thats is exactly what they did! I work with this engines as emergency generators, and nerver saw one of the OM 400 or 440 series engine blow up or even having some sort of problem after 20-30 years of service. freaking tanks!!

This engine works in the dmu series 628.4 of the german railway (DB) too. There it has 448 kW / 660 hp.
DB Honk 609 hp = 448 kW
Some of Adelaide's 3000 Series Diesel Electric railcars use OM444LA's that run at 1500RPM
