the man putting it back together has the factory rebuild manual installed to memory !!!!
That's what I was thinking, the dude has solidworks in his head and the file of that engine loaded.
I wanted to express my profound appreciation for the level of skill involved in something so intricate as this. I would venture to say, There are only a dozen people in the United States capable of accomplishing a task like depicted in this video. All it takes is one tiny pin or ring out of place and the entire build is for not. My hats off to all you gentlemen. Thank you for sharing your truly amazing skills. It really is video worthy. Only a professional understands the complexity level of a build such as this. Truly amazing. I hope it works. 😅😅😅😅
the entire build is for 'nought' as in 'zero' (nothing)
Do you realize that the USA has indirectly influenced the fact that these people, by force of chance, possess these skills and work in these conditions. You are intelligent enough to realize this, but it is difficult to admit the truth
There is definitely a lot of people all over the world that can rebuild transmissions
Laugh all you want, but in an apocalypse scenario, you will be wanting to have these men at your side
What a spot on statement.
The last thing I need after the apocalypse is a Mercedes truck gearbox
I always say the same. During the Zombie Apocalypse, they'll be driving while we're walking...lol
As much as we criticise, we always end up watching these dudes.😂
I like listening to the Jawas. Oootini!
@@scottbilger9294 This is the way.
Hi
We must know what a garage looks like in Madmax.
And learning a lot.
The guy with the white cap, clearly knows the construction of these gearbox’s inside out, great knowledge and skills from him to repair the gearbox, not something for an amateur to take on 😊
Definitely! The guy in the white cap clearly knows his stuff when it comes to gearbox repair. His expertise and skills are truly commendable! 👍🔧
Crazy impressive.... #RESPECT
That may be right. But it should accompany proper training too 😊
He does none of the donkey work
@@Semantsen62 he train thetrainor
Beating delicate transmission parts into place with a hammer and chisel. Great idea 💡
5:32 and gravity powered extractor 🥺
I noted how he attempts to pull the chisel outward with each hit. Very delicate and "don't try this at home".
Somewhere in Germany there is an engineer crying 😂
Haha, you might be onto something there! These mechanics sure know how to get the job done, even if it's in a less conventional way. But hey, sometimes a little ingenuity goes a long way! 😄🔧🇩🇪
I envy their skill but I feel bad for them. One year soon they are going to get a gearbox with microhip matched parts and nothing will work without flashing the eprom using a private key from John Deere.
Yeah because somebody miss gendered them.
Agreed. Everything in that gearbox has a specific torque to it. I don't believe I saw a torque wrench of any kind.
Its an undevelopped country. Is poor people, dont have enought money for more.
If want perfect job, please go to an USA or German page....😊
These hard work men obviously have done this many times, I would love to see how these fellas would do in a more “pristine” work environment. Well done, hard work deserves respect regardless of culture, country or social status.
This is a ZF gearbox, looks like a 16s160 or something close to it, i've rebuilt a few of these and they never come apart like this, ever, they are normally bastards. All those 'washers' are actually shims and require correct setting and measuring for clearance/preload, my guess is that this thing comes back for 'repair' on a regular basis.
yeah sure - nothing can be done unless your at the dealership - bet it runs another hard million miles -
@@rudybishop9089He just said that this thing likely was taken apart before. That these guys take a few shortcuts is a given. Totally worth it though.
@@rudybishop9089 i worked fleet, dealer will sell you a recon to limit liability, fleet we fixed things, clearly you don't understand that these gearboxes are not easy to do properly, the syncro hubs are shrunk onto the mainshaft, you have to use special pullers to get them off without breaking them, if they're loose then everything will slop around and it will be jumping out of gear all the time or worse selecting 2 gears at once, like i said, things need proper shimming or it will fail
it comes apart easier because they are better mechanics than you are...
@@walkertongdeetrue
Fair play to anyone who can take a gearbox apart, and rebuild it with no parts left over. You cannot compare to how the rest of the world would tackle this task.
I would of liked them to have pointed out what parts had failed. like to learn too. However, it was an enjoyable watch.
didn't appear to be any replaced parts..
@@CATech1138 Some of the synchronization parts seemed to be worn by what I saw, but then again, I was no there, so I might be wrong.
@@erikziak1249 Yeah I thought the same as you, maybe worn Syncros cos we see him spinning them to see how much grip they have.
Back in the day here in England, we used to use sawdust in the oil to reduce noise, a long pipe lever settings for torque bolts and setscrews up, bottle tops for washers, cut new gears with handheld angle grinders, made thrust washers from old brake discs and handmade new clutch discs from compacted cement and straw. We have moved on since those days, but it is nice to see the same hands on old skool skills and techniques in use today in other parts of the world.
Nice to have you let others know that there is/was many ways to get job done.
who you do think taught these guys' grand parents?
So you worked in the British auto manufacturing industry then. Up to this October, I expect.
Sawdust only if you wanted to sell the vehicle - to make it run quiet and good. What happens after the next 5000 km is the next owners problem, right?
@@tomrogers9467😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There must be an unwritten rule that nothing can be cleaned before it is taken apart. Sand inside a mechanism helps rebuild it.
I was thinking the same thing?
🤣
Every jurny become advennture............... cheeerss.......... 😜
Sand helps with the internal "self clearancing" of the gears.
These guys with power tools and proper machining equipment are unstoppable
They prove unstoppable without that
who needs a tool box when you have tool bowls
I can’t imagine accomplishing this under perfect conditions
I wonder how often the snap-on man comes round in his tool van? 🤔😂😂😂
Nah they get their tools from Walmart!!
If they do they would need a rear gunner!
Actually these dudes save lives. The truck will break down with gear box issues. So no one will be affected by the other dudes who fixed the breakes 😊
I'm quite handy with all sorts of tools and equipment but have to say, I would probably struggle to take this bad boy apart never mind reassemble the damned thing. So complex is a gearbox to me that I swear it was invented by aliens and to see these lads throw bits and pieces in trays and buckets, then reassemble it after repair, well, I tip my hard hat for their ability. One thing I did notice that the weather seems to be inclement that even the normal sandle wearers have socks on.. :D
This type of rebuilding demonstration / example makes a “Mad Max” version of civilization seem plausible.
PS - This is the graduate school course for all those CZcams - will it run - content creators!
Wipes bearing surface with rag, drops rag onto dirt floor, picks up rag and cleans more bearings and gears, etc.

Serious expertise on display and not a power tool in sight.
Great to see you guys make the best of your circumstances. Full respect to your ingenuity. Necessity is the mother of invention. Nice work.
These people are unbelievably talented, and very knowledgeable. I love watching these repairs. Just look at that pan full of small parts.
I love their work, they use what they have and how they dressed is not an issue with me. BRAVO;

I am really amazed and mesmerized with such expertise, skill and memory. What a speed, cleverness and precision, without doubts. Chapeau. You are really unbelievable, Greets from Venezuela.
If Mercedes engineers can figure out a way to complicate things, they will.
But these men breeze through the rebuild with no issues. Can you imagine the
parts and labor costs, and the weeks of waiting, for this job to be done in Europe
or North America?
Nobody would do it, because a proper job would require a lot more work than in this video. And in NA/EU people would expect a warranty of some sort, this dude will give none.

These guys are amazing
Thx for the vid.
These miracle workers guessed to put a disk under the mechanism, a hundred years would pass and they would invent a convenient cart or workbench.
Ottimo lavoro. Siete dei bravi meccanici.
Saluti dall'Italia.
Pure Skill 🔥🔥🔥
the young lad washing the parts with his bare hands is either going to get the worst dermatitis imaginable or create skin so tough he can pull things out of the oven bare handed.
Did anybody catch the actual repair/ failure. Seems like they just took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together...
😂😂😂
Exactly what I thought 😮
Looks like the synchros were worn out and they replaced them with used ones in better condition.
Did you not see all those pieces he threw on the ground?
"Use Mercedes-Benz tool 8147 to remove shift forks" Homes just hits it with a J-wrench till the forks surrender.
I feel like the most impressive thing is how they know which bolts go exactly back in the same spot. There are so many, all different size lengths, diameter, etc.
Watch a Mercedes truck be built out of a pile of rubble, just like new 😅😅
Mercedes Benz certified technicians
Salute to you guys❤
This M/F better come with a warranty! 😂
They built that for about $20 so definitely no warranty just bring it back if it breaks only another $20 😂😂😂
beautiful call to prayer
Tolle videos weiter so.

I was a mechanic for 50+ years on industrial equipment and I am amazed that these people can rebuild that transmission in that environment with those tools is amazing! I hope it lasts a,long time ?
Imagine what these guys could achieve with a decent set of power tools.
Very good teamwork 🤘❤🤘
These guys are magicians, they always know just the right amount of dirt and sand to put into the item being worked on for a perfect rebuild.
