I don't see why this day needs to be a holiday. There is only one God, that's Jesus Christ, who controls all, even astrology. Its just astrology, not a God in anyway..

Different cultures & different people believe in different things. It’s okay that you don’t believe in it, but perhaps have some respect for Matariki as the Māori New Year for the indigenous people of Aotearoa. It’s not a holiday for the sake of being a holiday. It’s a day for Māori to remember, reflect & celebrate the new year through their customs.

Why do we have a holiday on New Years? Or Boxing Day? Or the Queens birthday? This holiday is important to acknowledge the people who have passed on throughout the year, to celebrate their life, spending time with family, to reset, to acknowledge and give thanks to what this world has provided for us and what this world continues to provide for us. ASTRONOMY has always been important in every culture and religion. We ask for a holiday to celebrate our culture and everyone’s loved ones… it’s not a big ask considering how much of western holidays have a holiday….

This is a celebration and recognition for Maori New Year and for all of Aotearoa as a people to celebrate and remember. Please show respect for other cultures than your own. Why do we celebrate New Years/ Easter/ Chinese New Year or even Boxing Day????
