40 liters of water would weigh 88 pounds and occupy 1.4 cubic feet. Impressive bottle!
maybe its D2O heavy water too
Uses Tardis (TM) technology
Yea its this new techology. They send it to another dimension via singularity, that is located on the bottom of the Hydro flask™.
yes, Hydro flask™ can also double as a liquid fuel rocket motor.
liquids cannot be compressed! only gases
40 litres? it must be like the tardis inside.
It's smaller on the outside!
haha heavy bottle
You win the best comment of the day,
Man, those galafrayans are really innovative huh?
Wow.... I never win anything, I don't even have a speach prepared, oh well here goes......
I'd like to thank Cody for giving me the oportunity to comment, my Mum, my Dad, My agent, my producer............
That is not 40 litres.
I enjoyed the video though. Thanks for the tip.
Probably centilitres. As he drinks 3 a day, it makes sense.
That is not 4 litres. 40 Oz probably. Just over 1 litres
Oh I see now it has already been pointed out. I'll just stay quiet next time.
several times
Glad you got ahold of one. I mentioned them in your video about storing water in your vehicle during winter, so I'm glad you found out about them. I never go anywhere without mine - keeps ice water cold even in Mississippi's summer heat. I have a 32oz. and dropped it on the ground when full a few too many times and have messed up the vacuum seal. It stills works well, but not quite as good and now sweats some. It took a good beating before failing, though.
40 litres, apparently the M in metric stands for magical ! hahaha !Your video are great.
Thank you for the review Cody, I've been looking for something like this. I can't believe 35 people would give a thumbs down on a video like this. What is this world coming to? Anyway wanted to say something positive and I really do appreciate your channel and your upright life.
so if your drinking through a straw isn't that made from plastic? lol...
The Great Lakes Piper yes however you’re reusing it for years
Ive seen that bottle in the background in some of your videos. I learned about them from a couple friends of mine that guide on the Green River here in Utah. They are the real deal and have a bunch of different sizes. Being able to keep water cold all day is priceless!
I was going to comment on the 40 liter thing but when I see that 99.5% of all comments mention this I decided to just let it go...But that's just how I roll... :-/
XD same.. but it kinda made me stop what i was doing to make sure i was paying attention XD
NOw THAT'S a comment worth commenting on!! But I cannot find the words ..............
this man said 40 litters!!!, its also a magic well!
i know he miss spoke btw
+chester field it must be like Mary Poppins bag
Come on, we all know Cody doesn't metric well....
hes tired, been running chainsaw allday
he said it was good amount. lol
I miss product reviews like this!! been in the market for a new bottle and will definitely take this review into consideration
That looks like a nice bottle indeed, I use similar ones too, but particularly that lead looks better. I like your channel, keep up the good work! Best
great review! can’t wait to get mine.
I love the enthusiasm that you have for all kinds items/tools. If it is well designs and fits a purpose fully, it should be appreciated, and I like that. Best Regards, George
I love this water bottle. I have an orange one. I've accidentally dropped it several times from 4+ feet in the air and it is still great. I once filled it with water and about 8 ice cubes, and took it with me in my car. I accidentally left it in there for either 3 or 4 days right before the middle of summer (75+ degree days so my car got really hot) and there was still some ice in the water! Great bottle!
As a trail crew member and wild land firefighter I have also tried many brands of water bottles and like you, the hydro flask is by far my favorite
Hi Cody, I was watching this video earlier this morning and liked the HYDRO FLASK. I was at New Seasons doing the grocery shopping this afternoon, turned the corner and there it was on an end cap. I wasn't even looking for it. I bought one, got home told the wife and daughter about the video and my new water bottle. My daughter laughed and said "great Cody is costing us money now". :) I used it this afternoon working in the sun, It is a great way to keep to keep your water cold.
I've been using them for a couple of years. They are a great product!
I am right there with you as far as needing to drink more water. I recently started buying lemon juice and putting a couple drops of that in every glass of water I drink. I used to drink 64 OZ of grape juice every month and now I drink no fruit juice. My water intake is like 3-4 quarts daily at least now. Quite amazing how the lemon juice basically got me hooked on drinking water for the first time in my life.
I have one and man it is one of the best things I have bought in the past year. I love mine. Great videos
I have the same set up love it found out you can pull the straw out and tip it up to drink so it is much more easy to put ice cube in side and have cold water all day
100% agree. I am looking at my HydroFlask sitting on my desk, which still has crushed ice in it from yesterday. I've actually had it keep ice solid over a weekend. The only negative thing I could possibly say about it is that it isn't good for cooling down a room-temperature drink in the fridge (it would probably take a day or two). I actually have the Klean Kanteen 3.0 lid, which fits the narrower (standard) HydroFlask and is hands-free (I can open and close it with my teeth). The only negative with the Klean Kanteen lid is that you have to vigilant in keeping the rubber spout clean, as it tends to collect gunk. I'm seeing on Amazon that there are new lids that weren't available before, so I may try those next.
I have Hydro Flask and you right it is worth every penny! I love mine so much I tend to give them as gifts .best product I have ever bought
Good for you man! Nice little video.
Hi Cody, One thing about straws is that some insects like to nest in them, I have had the misfortune to use a straw without checking first and that was not a happy moment. I have only come across this once but it reminds me to check every time
I own 4f hydro Flasks, and 6 true pint tumblers! Love them
the stanley one hand vacuum mug is another awesome mug for keeping drinks hot or cold.
Oh man, I get so excited about good water bottles!
Thanks for the review Wranglerstar, i have bought one in green! Hope i will enjoy lots of cold water.
Have got one, its just like you told. Great cold water, for at least 8 hours.
The bottle seems great! The only problem I see with these bottles are those tops with the mechanism to flip up a straw... After owning 5+ water bottles with that mechanism I notice that after like a few months of use you get mold and mildew in the top even with regular cleaning
Thanks for the recommendation. I grabbed a 40 oz wide mouth one with straw top for my wife out of the Wrangler Mart. It arrived today (delivery in Sunday?!?!). So great!
Nice review! One of my coworkers swears by these and I have been contemplating it for quite a while. Time to pull the trigger!
I own 3 of these, absolutely love them!
I use the 12 oz and 16 0z Hydro Flasks for my coffee love them. Am planning on purchasing a larger one for water similar to yours. However I usually drink coffee all day long water not so much.
Well, you've done it again cody! you have 'forced' me to buy another excellent product! Thank you for shearing this amazing water bottle! - Ash
I had access to these for a great price for awhile, and now that I know you like them I'm wishing I'd brought a few to you at the Mother Earth News Fair. I just picked up a few of the Hydro Food Flasks, and they are wonderful too. FYI, clean those straws. My coworker didn't, and even though she says she's never put anything but water in them, mold eventually grew.
I dont know how you guys do it nutnfancy and you make a video on something and I buy it.Saw the video yesterday and saw the bottle today in rei for 20% off in i went home with it.Keep up the good vids!
I like a good water bottle. Agreed about the plastic ones. I have always preferred normal stainless steel ones. Never thought to look for a double walled version. I'll have to look into these. Thanks for a great new product tip.
Hi Cody! i have that same bottle. I bought a Liberty Mountain bottle holder as well to go over it to protect the stainless steel and to be able to attatch it to my belt. there is a flap at the top made to go over a Nalgene sized bottle, but i cut that out and just synch it donw around the bottle. It is on amazon. You should check it out
Cody i just got my new Gransfors Bruks American felling axe with a 31" handle i like it very much and i recommend it to anyone
That video you referenced is hilarious. I have a double walled bottle that keeps my water cool through a 12 hour shift, but I'm envy that lid. :)
Great bottles I have the same one. Although they dent easily.
Hydroflask is most awesome! The price will shock you a bit if you're used to the standard Nalgene bottle. And it's probably not the bottle for backpacking if weight is a concern. But for everything else it's so worth it if you like hot or cold drinks. The 18 oz size with the sippy cup style of lid is fantastic for coffee. Wide mouth bottles are slightly easier to clean but you can still get a sponge into the narrow mouth and use a wooden spoon handle or something long to scrub it around. Very high quality product.
SO worth it. I just recently bought a 12oz with the coffee lid to complement my 32oz water jug. They even make a 64oz beer growler. So nice to have ice cold beer on hiking trips, though its definitely a luxury considering the weight is has over a Nalgene.
These are awesome, some of our nurses were using them, so I bought one to try. Ice and water in the morning and they stay cold all day long.
I have the same one. I almost said something they other day when you had it in the video. Love mine and how long it keep ice. The only problem is the paint chips on mine like crazy. Still a great bottle
I have one other those stanley states steel water bottles and its amazing. My greatest tip is if you're putting something hot in it you have to rinse it with very hot water so that the heat is not absorbed into the metal. Same thing with the cold but reversed. Also the stanley bottle fir pretty much all standard caps for thermoss
I also got the 40oz hydro flask, I 100% agree that it is awesome. I have been wanting one for a while. I found out about them while working at the fire department. One thing I got for mine was a Go Novate 40 oz sleeve / Pouch with Pocket off of amazon. Made caring it around Disney all day a breeze. Just thought I would share. Let me know if you want the link on amazon. (I am not associated with the pouch just thought I would share)
I just got one of those like a week ago, and it's awesome.
Another good thing about these insulated bottles is they don't sweat. Nice to set my drink down on my desk and not have to worry about the condensation. I have a Zojirushi brand that has a pop up button to swing open the top so you don't have to twist off the cap to drink. Being able to drink with only using one hand is much quicker.
We have been using those kind of bottle for about 2 years now and it's great. There are other brands than the hydro flask, Thermos is the best one we have try, as I don't think I'll find hydro flask in Australia but I will look around.
Vacuum bottles are the greatest invention in the world. In the winter time you put hot coco in and sure enough it's hot when you drink it. In the summer time you put cold tea in and sure enough it's cold when you drink it. How does the bottle know whether or not to keep it hot or cold? Amazing.
Technically the bottle is whatever temperature of the fluid you put in it. There's just an outer material shield around it that prevents ambient temperatures from changing it.
LOL...it was a joke! Thanks, man!!
No problem, I don't think I processed your comment completely, My brains going in like 4 different directions today lol.
I have days like that too--every other day. We're good. :>)
Picked up 2 of these for $5 bucks each. They were scratch and dent and work amazing. I like them. The best one to me has been my yeti cup. They both work about the same though.
I've used Hydroflask for years. The first one I got always had black particulates in the water each time I filled it up. I tested the same water against another bottle and only had problems with the Hydroflask. I returned it to REI, and then stayed away for maybe a year. I bought another one and didn't have problems.
"men don't drink out of straws"
if simply drinking out of a straw makes you question your manliness you have some serious insecurities.
It's a joke
@@billjamal4764 I just want to clarify, I wasn't talking about Wranglerstar himself. I was generalizing any man who thinks that, which in this case was his father.
And I don't believe he's joking about his dad saying men don't drink out of straws.
I've had one by Camelbak of the same design for a few years now - great as I travel and make many stops in my work truck during the hot summer days!
I have the 64oz hydro flask and can fill it with ice and water and leave it in the cab of my work van in the middle of summer here in Lynnwood Washington for more then 48 hours and still have bits of ice at the beginning of day three! More then durable too!
wow that's a steal compared to the new Yeti thermos. I might have get one and try it!
Hydroflasks are the best! I have been using them for years!
I drink using a straw, but will not drink using one of those bendy straws, that's where I draw the line haha.
That's where you 'straw' the line
Tom Montague ;)
Me I draw the line at the crazy straws.
I had a very similar to one of these out in death valley, they did awesome keeping water cool all day. I think your cap allowing you to drink without opening the bottle would keep it even cooler for longer.
*40 oz* (sorry done being one of those guys)
It's funny I've been running the same rig for about 6 months now and I have to remember still not to put too much ice in it because it takes so long to melt even hiking down here in 90-100 degree plus Kansas/Missouri summer days. The flip top was icing on the cake, make it a lot faster and easier to deploy on the trail
i use a Klean Kanteen 40 oz. It's only single wall but I can use it in a fire if i need to heat anything. It's wide mouth similar to a Nalgene wide mouth. I replaced the top with a Humangear wide mouth top. The opening is small enough that spillage is minimal. You might try that so you can get rid of the straw. I don't sip my water I gussel it. So a straw won't do. Hope this suggestion helps with your straw problem
Hi! IMO like a knife and flashlights.. buy in bright color not black! Something I've been highly opinionated about... what good is a camo knife or flash light?? Both stay in your pocket, and if you drop you can't find!
Got mine in lime green today at REI. Great product! I know I will be using this!
Haha 40 liters I think not
oops
perhaps 1L
40 oz
I bought a stainless steel bottle at a grocery store. It is single wall stainless with a wide mouth. The lid only is a screw off, which I don't care for. I would much prefer the lid like you have. I would also like the double wall, so I will look for one. In the mean time I will try to find an insulating jacket for mine. Won't be as good, but will help.
he predicted the hydro flasks future of greatness i wish the viscos could have seen this
did you have the chance to use this prendy axes more? I found them in a local shop here in Israel and I'm not sure if they worth the money in the long run.
I will be happy to hear your opinion about it.
thanks!
I have a stainless steel Nalgene brand i purchased years ago, NEED TO GET A LID LIKE THAT THOUGH!
One of the most important things I ever did in regards to my overall health and also to drinking water was to learn to drink my water at room temp. By drinking all my beverages at room temp without ice my body is not chilled down by the fluids I'm intaking therefore I can drink more,faster...hydrating more efficiently. I still drink hot beverages like tea occasionally, but water is my primary almost only drink 95% of the time. So many of my health issues have vanished since I gave up soda and caffeine that it is amazing...
I love mine! Great for coffee too
@Wranglerstar it would be nice to see a follow up after this summer season to see how its held up against your rough and tumble fire fightin' way of life. Seems great, I wonder how well the vaccuum seal holds with some wear.
I have an 18 oz hydro flask and it is the bomb!
I've had trouble with a metallic taste from cheaper Stainless steel bottles, do you have that issue with this one?
what about the weight of the bottle? I really like cold water on a nice hike but I like to pack ultralight. what is the weight comparison to a non insulated stainless bottle?
I wonder if the straw would contribute any BPA to the contents?... I imagine it would be negligible given the size of the straw but one still wonders.
They make cups too. I visited my brother one time and he wanted to show me how crazy it was. We were barbecuing and she poured a ice cold beer in it. After probably 5 hours IN the sun, a took a sip of it and it was still ice cold. Amazing cups!
Ya I never use straws, my Dad didn't either (just a waste of plastic)! Does it come in any other colors or designs?
Bought one to carry for long trips on my bike, the 27oz one? (700ml).
I haven't tried it yet, the only thing I don't like is the powder coated finish, for some reason it feels kinda slippery in my hands.
i picked up a smaller one to go on my bike and they are amazing
Can you maybe do a follow-up in half a year or so about how the lid holds up? I like the concept very much, but I had about 3 cheapo lids with the same general design break on me within a couple of months (the hinge pins of the flip-straw thing snapped off).
Have you ever heard about Ph levels in water, the target numbers? What are your thoughts?
10.5 gallon!!! wow your strong one handing 87.6 lbs of water!! your a beast cody!!!
Nice product, I can even get it here in NL. (@ bever sport), but not the straw cap, which is a pity. Still might get one for my bicycle bidon holder, if it fits.
BTW. the conversion confusion made me giggle, too.
I had a spouted stainless bottle years ago but it almost killed me one fine spring day. please make sure you guys buy a test tube brush somewhere, (home brewer kit or a paint supply store) and run the brush w/ hot soap & water through it. no matter how careful you are, there is always backwash from your mouth every time you drink. If left or simply washed in a sink, said spit (containing DNA) will grow into a naaasty mold that might take you out. The bottle is GREAT!!! (Keeps liquid liquid in minus 25 degrees too)
Try Klean Kanteen, it's my favorite bottle so far.
I have two on my pack and one in my truck, we are all using them now they are great.
Great vid! I subed!
I bought one 6 months ago. They are great. I try to drink 120oz of water a day and the Hydro Flask helps me do that
40oz, 1.1 liter
Costco has something similar. Takeya ThermoFlask. It has a wide mouth lid with an integral smaller lid on a hinge pin. Use the large lid to fill with ice and the small lid to drink from. It costs $35.00 for a two pack. It works so well that the ice seems to take forever to melt. Today was my first day to use it. Tomorrow, I will fill only half full of ice then top it off with water.
I was raised the same way, to drink plenty of fluids. Now with ESRD and on dialysis, I can have only 1 liter in a 24 hour period.
18/10 stainless steel. Welcome aboard, albeit a little late nevertheless you made it into the Hydroflask group. I've had ice water keeping cold in the direct sun for a full day, keeping ice for two days (not in full sun).
A hot day at 80 degrees? I envy you guys up in Oregon.
until winter time
same
J Tucker Even still. When I lived in Northern Japan we had almost six months of snow in the winters and lots of wind whipping down from Siberia. I loved it.
fact: if the outside weather is say 80 degrees like he said, if the vehicle was in a spot where sunlight directly hit it it, the temperature inside the vehicle would roughly have been 20 degrees higher inside of the vehicle in the first hour
ANOTHER FACT: The misinterpretation of say parents on a mild sunny day saying that they're going to the grocery store and going to leave their child in the car with the window cracked can leave infants with severe brain damage in the first 30 minutes... Cars are moving ovens
Fact. 100 degrees is child's play. I grew up in AZ where it reaches 120+ every summer. I lived in Bahrain where it gets hotter than that. In central California where I live now, 100+ is standard all summer. The point is I would love to live someplace where 80 is a warm day again.
Also, if it is 125 outside and it is 20 degrees hotter in the car, and I have to get in the car wearing body armor......yup. I'd still kill for 80 being considered a warm day.
That looks like a really nice bottle, but my favorite bottle is my army issued canteen from the army surplus store.
You should try h2go Hawaii brand of water bottles they are of a similar concept being vacuum insulated but I find the keep liquids cold longer and they are more of a traditional water bottle shape
I have the 64oz and use it every day. I love it.
FYI, you can use the flip lid without the straw. I have had my Hydroflask for years (maybe it is a FiftyFifty-we have a bunch of each-lids are all interchangeable). I hate sucking out of the straw. I used it for all of about 5 minutes. Without the straw, you can simply tip the bottle and take a big swig.
could you make a experience video for how eating better works for you and if you noticed any changes ?
Would be realy nice :)
Those things work great down here in Texas. It was pushing 95 degrees and about 92% humidity yesterday.
yeah buddy... I'm in Houston it was stupid hot. we reached a real feel of 100 in pearland. with 85% humidity
i had to turn on the ac it was so hot yesterday... thank goodness its raining today!
+Ollie Woody I'm in Pearland too! :)
92% humidity... there should be a device to just drink from the air😂
No kidding. I stepped outside to walk my dog and immediately started sweating. I would love to have a nice cold front come through again. 70F to 75F would be a ideal summer but given the location and history we are bound to see triple digits with 90% humidity. Just bury me in a motel ice machine.
REI is one place that sells these, in addition to Amazon (of course).
BTW both carry both brands.
I have a Kleen Canteen and I can keep ice in it for just over 24 hours. Ive been looking at the hydra flask just because of its size.
