WOW! I trust you have scanned these pages you made. They are beautiful. I am almost at a loss for words in my own language to tell you all the things I want to say. I so appreciate the effort you put into translating your videos for us English speakers. I appreciate your willingness to experiment and share and encourage others. I hope Tim Holtz takes the opportunity to see what you have done with his die cuts! (I'm afraid there won't be a leaf or flower left on the campground now. 😉)

When I was studying to be an artisan, we had a course in natural dyeing. You weigh the yarn or fabric dry and use 10% alum. So if the dry weight is 100 grams, you use 10 grams of alum. I think it might be the same for paper :)

Hi Luisa, I have been eco-dying a great deal for nearly three years now. I have never seen anything like your die-cutting the plant material. It is a brilliant idea and also produces negatives for other processes. I think it is better to measure your ingredients. That way you don't waste anything. You can always add a little more, but you know what you produce will be amazing without removing the spontaneity. It is also useful for some people to know which processes produce papers that will last at least a few decades and which will break down quickly. I recommend Best of Both Worlds: Enhanced Botanical Printing by Jane Dunnewold. I know you will love this book.

Hi from Australia. I love eco dying on paper. Thought you would like to know that it is also easy to add either or both colours of the outer pieces of onion skins. Also adding copper items or spraying copper and vinegar water to parts of the papers give a blue hue. Hope this is helpful and keep on having lots of fun. Regards Sandra

I love that your videos always make me consider the science. The top surface of leaves have a waxy covering, called the cuticle, to protect them from the direct exposure to sunlight and to prevent excess water loss. This is why the cutouts release more easily when the dies are placed on the top of the leaves.

Louise, I’m so glad I stumbled onto your experiment today! This was so informative and so awesome!! Thank you so much for posting this video, I loved it & I already have all of the dies that you used. Before my retirement I worked for Sizzix and I actually introduced Tim Holtz to Sizzix. What a joy it was to work with him and learn from him! Aloha, Jill
