  • The Texas and Pacific 2-10-4 steam locomotive, #610, and Southern Railway 2-8-2, #4501, each pull an excursion train along the Northfolk & Western Railroad, and then pair up for a doubleheader excursion in 1977.

    I used to have a copy of this film on super 8, .I don't remember who it was that was selling the copies. Cool to see it again.

    I believe she was the only Texas type in excursion service right?

      Yes. She however wasn’t a speed locomotive. Her top speed was 35 mph because her pilot wheel had numerous problems

    It’s a shame 610 isn’t in working order. A former excursion star deserves better. At least she still is in a somewhat good condition even if she isn’t moving under her own power.

      This is from an old reel to reel film my father showed me as a child. I’m not sure who made it. My father transferred it to VHS and then I transferred it to DVD and digital. Not sure who you should credit. I can’t take credit.

    Why am.I.hearing a whistle, and seeing no steam ??.....god I hate this crappy dubbed in stuff...then.just the opposite, I see steam, and hear no whistle...but worst of all, the exhaust beats dont.match.the wheel rotation
