You guys are reading way to much into this. Nick Saban is 72 years old and has been coaching for 50 years. Most coaches aren't still in the game at that age. It was more than likely a case of him wanting to enjoy a retirement. And Deon just came off a losing record so I'm not sure why you think he's going to Alabama or anywhere else. The guy needs to win something before you start talking about him as a great coach.

Deion was basing it off of how the affect NIL deals and transfer portal changed the game of college football. Not thinking he’s better than Saban. Saban is a traditional style coach who use to do things a certain way which helped him win all those championships.

Bill Parcels got his start with the NY Giants, when coach Perkins decided to go to Alabama after coach Bear Bryant passed away back in the early 80s.
I know y'all are trying desperately to make Alabama fans being opposed to Deion replacing Saban a race thing, but it's really just a success and experience thing. *THAT* would be the only reason Alabama fans would revolt if Deion was hired. Thankfully, this is not a serious conversation in the first place because y'all know you're only trying to fill empty air time with outlandish possibilities for higher ratings. More importantly, it's an unserious conversation because Alabama's AD doesn't even have Deion Sanders on his list of potential replacements to begin with. He's too competent and plugged in to college football to even consider it.

Funny the first thing Key mentions is Saban not liking change, being a traditional coach. Yeah he is traditional but he's probably been the most adaptable coach in the sport. Look at what he won his first national title with at Bama and look at the last one he won. Drastically different teams/styles. Along with adapting well to the transfer portal unlike Dabo.
Saban could have stayed another 4-5 years, won a couple more titles and dipped if he wanted. But he went out on his terms and the GOAT has left with something that'll never be matched

NIL didn't level the playing field. Alabama was a big benefactor from NIL. It made smaller programs much weaker, and top programs much more transient with transfers
And to Saban’s credit, he said that would be the outcome as soon as they started talking about NIL as a possibility. I remember everybody saying that he was against it bc he was afraid of others catching up when it’s just the opposite: He didn’t want the gap between the Haves and the Have Nots to widen even further.

College football is finally balanced
No it's not. It's just going to lean heavily in someone else's favor now. Most likely Georgia and Texas. Even though Michigan just won the national championship and has 3 straight Big Ten titles, I don't foresee them using this as a springboard to a so-called 'dynasty' of their own the same way Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia were able to. I don't see multiple championships coming as a result of this. I see this Michigan championship much the same as 2005 Texas, 2007 LSU, 2013 FSU, and 2019 LSU. Just a special team that had a lot of seniors return in order to chase a championship, and a season where their obstacles were removed from their path ahead of time, and had everything set up nicely for them.
This may ruffle some feathers, but I don't consider Jim Harbaugh the great coach the media lackeys do. I genuinely rate him the same as Mack Brown, Les Miles, Jimbo Fisher, and, yes, even Ed Orgeron because he benefited from an excellent staff and special group of returning upperclassmen. I don't view a purely Jim Harbaugh coached team as a consistent juggernaut. I think he's too goofy and spaced out to be a great college football head coach.

A minute and 20 seconds into this and it's clear that Keyshawn is clueless about Saban. Saban likes things a certain way? He only likes certain quarterbacks? Saban adjusted to every single change that occurred during his time at Bama....and came out on top.
My personal opinion is someone old school like Saban absolutely hates the NIL deals and the transfer portal. It takes away leverage to a coach. Now if a player has a problem about anything even something small, they can now just transfer to a different school or just leave because Alabama offered me $2M but USC now just offered me $5M. That's a huge difference for someone who is 18 or 19 years. He's also 72 and probably doent have the drive to recruit to the level you now need too. I actually think one of these networks probably offered him $8M a year to be an analyst and it's way less stressful to just be an analyst.

They have no clue about what Nick Saban has done. He has adapted to every change in college football. Why else would he have so much success? Key said He's used to coaching the same types of players. He's coached 4 white qb's, 4 black qb's, and 1 Samoan qb? These guys are reaching too hard. Having gone to a university in Texas, and getting to know some of the other schools in the deep south, I just don't see the university infrastructure/staff at Alabama employing a coach like Deion. There is a level of racism there that just won't allow it.
