- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 tells a packed, eventful, and dramatic story across its runtime of 20-plus hours, and by the time it comes to a close, things has shifted radically for the status quo in Insomniac’s Spider-Man universe.
Key characters have unexpected futures set up for the future, others seem to be gearing up for prominent roles in unexpected ways. Add to that plenty of other teases for what the future might hold, and things are looking quite exciting for Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, and where it might go from here. As such, in this feature, we’re going to talk about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s ending and where it leaves the series’ story and world, and how it sets things up for the future. - Hry
From a technical standpoint, I can’t believe how well they pulled off a third playable character, even though it was only one small section of the game. I’m all for seeing Venom like that again.
It was a true "WOW" moment for me. You could feel his power and brutality...kinda made me worry that he would be waaay more hard to beat.
I bet the Venom section is a test bed for playing as Hulk in Wolverine. There was a Hulk tease in the Wolverine teaser.

@@alexdeluna9524If you read the comics, this wouldn’t have come at a shock. Venom tried to kill Peter’s baby daughter and physically brutalized Blackcat who was holding onto dear life. Venom is a brute and not quite the anti hero most make him out to be.
I’m glad they didn’t skimp out and went all out with Venom in the game.
I keep seeing this being said but I didn’t read that scene as Peter retired from being spider-man, he’s taking a much needed break to focus on the rest of his life like the foundation & MJ but he’s not done being spider-man permanently, even miles said “go be peter Parker for a while” obviously he’s gonna be spider-man in part 3 with what the after credit scene teases, also venom isn’t an anti hero in any way he’s a villain.
I think we'll see Carnage either in the DLC or Spider-Man 3.

Yes, thank you. I don't know why people keep assuming that ending was Peter "retiring", as if that would ever be a possibility to begin with. What it actually meant was Peter has concluded his tutoring of Miles, officially graduating him as a complete and fully fledged spiderman. Miles is now both able and confident in his ability to protect the city on his own if need be, Peter doesn't have shoulder it all by himself. Not to mention the game continuing after and you still being able to play as Peter kind of also makes it obvious that he isn't retired.
Side note, Spiderman 3 will really need to address what the hell is going on with the Avengers. The first game with Octavius and the Devils Breath, while that was horrid in the end it proved to be nothing that Peter couldn't deal with in the end. And Miles Morales, let's be honest there wasn't that much of a real threat to New York there. Not saying it wasn't a threat, because it was, but not as much as the Devils Breath that had the possibility of wiping out all of Manhattan if not further. But with Spiderman 2? That was global, literally apocalyptic events happening, and not so much as a peep from any of them.

I’m guessing Norman will test the G Serum on himself and then break Otto out of prison after finding that it needs more work or something to give to Harry and that will maybe lead the two of them to work together again. I think Norman will convince Otto that the serum can help him as well. And they’re probably going to need Peter’s blood or something to make it.
I’m pretty sure Carnage and Chameleon are going to end up being DLC.
I also feel that Silk will be the next game similar to Miles Morales and that they’ll set her game up in the dlc they’ll likely be releasing.
I'm guessing Silk is most likely going to be introduced more in DLC's and will get her own standalone spin-off game like what Miles got. With Green Goblin pretty much being the next antagonist of the 3rd game. This has me particular worried about Mary Jane. If Norman finds out who Spiderman is from Doc Ock, he will most likely be targeting MJ to make Peter suffer and with Gwen not being around then maybe it might be MJ who dies instead or gravely injured.

If they do a venom game it will probably be agent venom game playing as flash. He’s the one character they have mentioned in both games and have never showed.
That’s what I’ve been saying, Venom open world traversal would just not do it. Agent Venom moved very similarly to the Spideys. Plus they can always make him go full Venom with his symbiote surge to reuse the assets on the Venom section.

Norman knows Miles is a Spider-Man, so I don’t know what that really means for the end of the game. In my game I postponed the final mission and Norman Osborn called Miles and made him promise not to hurt Harry, and ended the call by calling him Spider-Man.
1:55 if you remember in a point in the game, Dr. Conors did tell Petter even though the Symbiote is off of Peter he said there were some still left inside of Peter and this explains the Anti-Venom suit.
Also explain why Harry is still alive and still hanging on.
Who knows maybe that part of Venom is in Harry but not strong enough to take over and Harry won’t lose control as Venom.
And Kasadey is still out there with his own Symbiote becoming Carnage.
This opens the door for a Venom spin off.
Another insane plot point everyone seems to be missing, is the ending of the spider bot side missions. It directly hints at Miguel and the spider multiverse, and perhaps even the Spider-Man coalition from all the multiverses. If they add that to the final game, it would actually be completely insane! All villains vs all Spider-Man’s!
That's just a small side/collectables mission giving tribute to miles morales into the spiderverse movies. Don't expect nothing out of it

So after the game when u play as Peter, he says "thats enough of a break" so hes not retired, hes just focusing on getting his life together
Foreshadowing Easter egg: In the final story mission when peter, mj, and miles are talking about the plan, they use a goblin caricature to use when talking about Harry.

I really thought they were going to have it that Peter tries to give his anti venom suit to Harry and part of the venom symbiote still left inside of Harry would leave and try to find a new host, and maybe in a weakened state it can’t do all the stuff it did in this game, it’s more single focused instead of being able to infect others and stuff
Good point. But the symbiote dies once the host dies. Maybe it can be revisited in spiderman 3 where he works with doctor conners to transfer his symbiosis to Harry. It may be more difficult as the binding of the symbiote died within harry.

I Dont think Peter is retiring just a lunch needed break. They are probably coming out with a second mile morales game and they need a reason for Peter to be on the sideline so miles can get his spotlight. The post credit scene for that game will probably set up the main villain for Spider man 3 which could be the green goblin or carnage. (I think carnage is to big of a villain to be dlc.) along with doc ock. Then Peter will join the fight again.
Unless it's the entire dlc like hammer head was 3 parts

Goblin is very much guaranteed to be main villain of the third game and if he is, YOU CANNOT have a Green Goblin main villain without Peter Parker/Spiderman. Peter Parker’s Spiderman and Green Goblin’s rivalry is sacred. You can’t have him primarily fighting Miles, a boring character with not as much history.
Surely Peter takes centre stage again?! If they want to wrap up Peter’s story, fine. But make sure Peter aka the TRUE Spiderman goes out with a bang.

Part of Silk's canon is the feral / hormonal attraction between her and Peter. They had a blistering physical romance because of it. Not sure how they would handle that aspect now that Miles is in love, and Peter solid with MJ. But yeah, Insomniac, keep Peter and MJ together PLEASE. I'm sick of Marvel's inability to just let them be committed to each other.

I’m almost certain they will change that part of her backstory for the game universe. For one, it looks like she is closer to Miles’ age rather than Peter’s. I do wonder if they will add a 3rd spider to the mix because there is zero chance she was bit by the spider that bit Miles, and if she is significantly younger than Peter, she might not have been bitten by that spider either. I’m guessing they will introduce her in a DLC for this game with Miles, Cindy, and Wrath going after Carnage.
Edit: Her powers are also slightly different then Peter's so it would make more sense if a different spider bit her

Controversial thought but I think the next game will be the Clone Saga, or at least some weird amalgamation of different versions of the Clone Saga. That the diary Otto has at the end actually details his plan to make clones of Peter.
I think this is the next step in Peter’s story.
The first game firmly establishes him and his role as Spider-Man, the story culminates in him making the ultimate sacrifice, not saving Aunt May to save everyone else.
The second game kinda breaks Peter, the symbiote taking advantage of Peter’s pain. Even going as far as to show that the root of that pain is the loss of Aunt May.
And with how the game ends, I can imagine Peter questioning his role as Spider-Man or even resenting the role, probably thinking that the world doesn’t need him anymore especially because Miles (and maybe even Silk) is around.
I think this will be Peter’s “No More” moment.
Then this all culminates in some good old fashioned Clone nonsense. At the height of Peter feeling like he’s replaceable, his fear and anxiety of being replaceable will be brought to life with a wave of Peter Parker clones raiding the city.
Then boom, he’s back as Spider-Man. He realizes that the world still needs him, and he swings off into the sunset.
The best thing about the spider man world is that it's so deep. I'm sure when somy to make some money they'll give insomniac a call to make another spidey game

What about when you collect all the spider robots and then you get that little cutscene of a portal opening and it's 2099s portal and then that girl at the bar tells you don't worry hopefully Miguel won't find out and then Peter's like who's Miguel so maybe 2099 will be coming too actual Miguel O'Hara or did you not do all the trophies?
I'd love to see both silk and venom spin offs. I got very excited when I saw silk in the post credits. But I hope silk will be the third playable character rather than replacing peter.

I don’t think Insomniac is going to go this route because Cindy looked young (Miles age) in that reveal but in source Cindy and Peter were bitten by the same spider and because of that they have a natural bond with each other an attractive bond too. So that would’ve been crazy to see in SM3 but again don’t think Insomniac is going make Cindy how she is in the source material.
Every universe in the comics or show is different. They def not gonna do the Peter and Cindy bond cause obviously weird and there’s a chance she might prob not become the third spider person.

@@ethanseger3441I like the idea, but that would be impossible. The spider that bit Miles was on MJ in Norman’s lab, then went on to the box Miles picked up and bit him. Miles immediately killed the spider afterwards so there is no chance it could have bit anyone else. My theory is that they introduce a 3rd spider into the mix.
What I would want from this is
1) DLC explains Silk and how she becomes part of the spidey family. Maybe the DLC can focus more on Miles since Peter is “retiring”. I think it would make more sense to do this since we know very little, or really anything about her inclusion in this universe.
2) A Wraith spin-off game that ties into her looking for Carnage and eventually leading up to the events of Spider-Man 3. She was super interesting and I want to see more of her story and how and why she got into this specific case.
3) A Venom spin-off would be amazing, but I think leaving it off like this is better. It adds more mystery of the next game and with Carnage potentially being in the next game I think a Venom spin-off would be cool but not needed. Idk if I want a continued story of Venom or if I want to see the POV of Harry once he gets the symbiote but this is actually lower on the list since I think the other two ideas sound interesting to me.
They need to do an updated version of maximum carnage and they opened up the door for knull with the Grendel symbiotes and venom with the wings

This is how Spiderman 3 will go: Otto will tell Norman who Spiderman(Pete) is. Then Norman will go take MJ and try to kill her. Pete will get there right in time
but ends up sacrificing himself for MJ. Silk and Miles will get there and go ham mode on Norman(green goblin) and either kill him or capture him and take him to the police. That’s how it will end.
One thing I have not seen a lot of people talk about is the possibility that we get "Superior Spiderman" with Otto. I mean would make sense since he is trying to get revenge on both Peter and Norman and him swapping minds with Peter and trapping him in jail possibly would be definitely a way to get at Peter. And Otto being in Peters body as Spiderman would sure allow him to get back at Norman.

Don’t know if anyone had the same experience as me, but when i was fighting venom it was way Harder to fight him as Peter then miles. When i was Miles i didn’t Get hit once and on Peter i had to use multiple heals. Both were 100% on skills. And in general miles was way better in almost everything in the game. If i could choose someone for a mission i always choose him Cause of all the shit he can do. I hope in the spider man 3 that while miles can be the same, but peter can be buffed somehow. And Even with the venom power, miles were like 100X better. Maybe Peter can have more effective moves or something? Cause he’s more experienced.

Sameee, played on the hardest difficulty and was gettin hammered with Peter, but Miles was dominant against Venom.
If we had a similar formula to the first game, a 3 part DLC with the side quest villians we saw throughout the game and a venom "expansion" similar to miles morales would be perfect
So I think that the Spiderman 2 DLC will focus on Silk and Miles, with Peter being more of a character who has brief cameos (kinda like how Miles was in the Spiderman 1 DLCs), then in Spiderman 3, Peter will be back as normal Spider-Man, with some more character developement, along with Miles, and Silk.

I think Spider-Man 3 will bring us the Green Goblin since Norman Osborn now hates both Spider-Men and The Lizard since this game introduced Dr Connors. Also, Peter Parker isn’t retiring from being Spider-Man and “passing the mantel” to Miles. He’s just taking a break for his family. MJ is the only family he has left, he’s gotta go be with her for a while.
It sets up the dlc, Miles will have to fight carnage its obvious
I think that Peter gonna take a break through out the Dlcs( if there's some) and the Silk standalone (if there's one) and then he'll come back as Spidey in the Third game
I'd really love a Venom game, but i feel like the next big Spiderman game might be miles morales two, following the endings of this game and unfinished storylines in the first miles morales game then finally cut to the 3rd and final spiderman game although after that idk if they could do another miles game

Next game could be related to the spiderverse, since peter is retired and there are multiple references to the spiderverse, Miles and Gwen or Silk could be in the next game.
man i really hope we see spider gwen in a game at some point, her ballet fighting/swinging style would be so fun to utilize as well as in the same way miles has his own game music she would have that punk rock in the background
They said that she wouldn’t fit in this universe, but they can at least add Gwen’s Spider suit to Cindy’s design options (pay homage to the character).

I have a sinking feeling there's going to be some self sacrificial shit going on in the third one...
If there is, this is how I'd personally like it to play out. Peter would obviously feel the need to sacrifice himself to save people he loves/new york. Bringing the goblin down with him or something like that. Miles, MJ and (Possibly) Harry are made to believe he dies but at the last second, someone is there for Pete. Who? Doctor Octavious. He has a last second change of heart and saves Peter from whatever it was that could and would have killed him. Not sure how, wrapping his legs around Pete to protect him? Doing something that would save him. I feel like Doc coming in and saving Pete at the last second would be a nice callback to the first came and how much Doc really did care about Peter before the tec changed him. Doctor Octavious would die in place of Peter.
Venom vs carnage would be cool asf. Just like the movies. It would develop a connection for the fans with venom, instead of just seeing him as a straight villain.
I personally think that, after some DLC, the next game is actually going to be Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2. Peter taking a break from being Spider-Man leaves all the room needed for a Spider-Man: Miles Morales sequel to feature just him as the playable character.

@@BrotherKnowledge. I think the sequel will be Spiderman Cindy Moon where you play as Silk and then its Spiderman 3 with all 3 Spiderman characters playable. I doubt we get a Miles Morales 2. It makes more sense to make a spin off spiderman game just on Silk alone and then Spiderman 3.

I thought the setup of the last post credit scene with Albert and Cindy was a bit weak, imo. The first Spiderman just showed Harry in the tank with the symbiote and it got fans going wild.
I think probably because many people don’t know who Cindy moon is. The reason why Harry in the tank makes fan goes wild, it’s pretty obvious because of venom.

But instead he's mostly back to where he were in the first game, and when things don't move forward (or go to some different place) is usually lazy writing. But I truly wonder what are their intentions to keep him alive.
what I want them to make is a young peter parker dlc for his first few years as spiderman , Add a playable venom storyline which reveals eddie brock for spiderman 3, last dlc could be related to carnage and Miles having his own short story dlc.

If they were to push these narratives. I think the best way is to give the OG Spiderman a proper send off... via Sacrifice... A Sacrifice that would give weight to the words "With great power, comes great responsibility", a Sacrifice that would teach Miles the true meaning of being Spiderman and to question the significance of its presence in New York. All we see here is Miles saving everyone and everything he cares about but what if in the third installment.... He can't.... Shit that would be something....
I feel the Emily may foundation is a switch for Parker industries, Otto is there for the superior spidey tease, obviously we are getting green goblin, I doubt they’ll kill mj so Peter dying at the end of three and that being the big moment for silk rather than miles would be the most likely switch

whatever happens in the next game I really hope they don’t follow a superior Spider-Man timeline where doc ock takes peters body. It would be a very sad ending to peters story.

I know this is very far away but it seems they are setting retirement for Peter as Spider-Man in the 3rd game . I hope in the 4th game they hit us with a surprise where Peter miles and Cindy have to deal with the spider verse and evil Miguel. It would be awesome
Chameleon is dating Miles mom. Green goblin is Norman Osborn. HOBGOBLIN will be a driven insane Harry Osborn. Norman will be driven mad by octavious but help with a "cure" for Harry. Silk will be torn by how nice miles is and her "dad" ..... she's gonna ba a spy of some sort for sure.
I hope the last game it's revealed Peter parker is spiderman to the whole world. With the amount of times the devs screwed up with having Peter, Mj and Miles being careless about hiding their Identity... They had Spiderman and MJ Scream fighting in front of all Pete's neighbors for god's sake😅

Insomniac should make an all female focused story. Each character have its own control scheme and different mission sets. Mid DLC style like Miles but in 1 game.

They will retired Peter. He has the anti venom symbiote…. Uh ohhh in the comics anti venom cleanses. Well in the comics anti venom wants to “cure” Peter from his radioactive blood which if he does…. Then Peter loses his power. So here is my take.
Peter will transfer anti venom to Harry, curing him and in the process he loses his powers.
A Venom game is a no brainer. Better yet, Agent Venom.

They will definitely introduce a new Peter from the spiderverse, they already have the tech to do it, so it is likely that this will be a Spiderman is dead and Miles is lost for a while thing untill lazy Spiderman gets to help him, Peter always dies in Miles universe...

Whatever they do, I just hope they don't kill of Peter. He is and will always be SpiderMan for me. Also, a game with Peter as spidey will do more well than say 'Silk' for example. Miles is great, and they have incorportated him very well but he ain't Peterr. Also, as a comic book fan, I KNOW they've killed off Peter many times, but fuck that.
Give us a venom stand alone game with Carnage as the villain and let us play as Eddie Brock, of course classic brutal venom not the one with the wings who gets defeated by Miles and MJ like a joke
