I purchased and watched the video from PFS of the documentary of the Basic class of 4 days. Seems absolutely ridiculous that half of the students dropped out because of dehydration to the point of heat stroke. Definitely imbicilic type of structure of the class. I mean, what's the point? 99% of folks arent in military shape and won't ever be subject to such stress. And even if they are what about their wife and kids... gonna trek them 6 miles in 105 degree heat index carrying 35 pounds of gear in a backpack + another 35 pounds sticks and branches in a 55 gallon garbage bag. IMO... it's a crock of shit stress unnecessarily done. Kudos to you and others for getting through it, but your average guy or gal can't do it... or tredge through miles of thorns trying to find their way on a navigation course.
Would love to see an outline of your course by day and topics covered. Agenda etc without giving away your training system.
You ought to also have "patches" and a training path of Basic Intermediate and Advanced... and also offer CPR and First Aid classes through the Red Cross, etc. For folks to get certified.
I have to say that the makeshift stretcher that CC Shawn made from 2 garbage bags and to branches to evacuate that guy that had heat stroke was pretty amazing military style evac procedure. Glad you guys left DC and started your own style of training.

We appreciate this feedback! We do not think it’s necessary to put people through “boot camp” in order to learn. The stress will come naturally without us having to beat students down. We are all learning together and believe that EVERYONE should be given a fair chance to learn, no matter the physical challenges of that person. We have had great success and feedback from our classes! We are in the process of starting a Red Cross Wilderness First Responder training course. In addition to that I’m starting a Wilderness Immersion program that will give people training, knowledge and tools to not only start their own thing but also how to actually teach/coach someone! I will be posting more videos about the classes and what will be available soon!

@@bsd9230 Honestly buddy I don’t hardly have any clips, I get so into teaching and having good interactions with the students that I totally forget to record it lol. All of the classes are on my property, Kenny only lives about 20 minutes from me and Shawn is only about 45 minutes.

It doesn't have to be a professional video, just like clips snipets will be like an advertisement.
His personality and mannerisms make him seem like a good guy to learn from. The flexibility in gear selection is refreshing as well. Bushcraft is not boot camp, students learn more when taught in a calm demeanor with minimal stress. Learning is like going through the gears on a bicycle, come to think of it, making a proper fire is like going through the gears on a bicycle as well. Start small then gradually add in more sills and stress.
Just signed up and looking forward to it. I really appreciate the fact that this course is affordable and does not require certain brands of gear. Everyone does not have the disposable income to buy branded gear and pay for a class.

Excellent kit! Im old school and based my survival kit on the marine corps kit issused during vietnam. I was there and know that the kit works. Ive added a few items and use a hiking kit with all the gear you mentioned. Two different kits. One fir hiking the other fir survival.

I'd recommend a sleeping pad , sleeping bag , and a small boo boo kit with aspirin and imodium and at least a tourniquet.

Is this a course where you’re putting the students through high stress and long hikes?
There will be some stress, and there will be some hiking. But we aren’t here to bust the students into the ground, we want students to learn without having to worry about wether or not they’re gonna pass.

Can the cup be aluminium, I have the Bear Grylls survival canteen and cup set. And is the BG ultimate survival knife with its ferro rod ok. Thank you.
It would really be best if the cup was stainless steel or titanium. Simply because aluminum warps if you heat it with no liquid inside. So making char cloth could ruin your cup.
