I would have asked for my money back. No excuse with ' We have not got it'. Why put the Christmas menu on the table if they haven't got anything to serve. Disgraceful. What a COMPLETE let down . Wetherspoon's let the side down again. Come on, if your going to charge that much then 1. Have the things you advertise, and 2. Serve fresh food. All the best you and Ange.
I agree there's a level of consumer service that outlets will try to blur & its down to the customer to enforce.
I was a contractor working at another pub chain venue & overheard an elderly couple be led to a table, allowed time to look at the menu, & then be told there were No potato products available due to late delivery, all they wanted was a lunch including some chips & they rightously departed.
The standards and management of Wetherspoons need to be sorted out before more and more of branches are compelled to close.
Tim Martin was an aggressive Brexiteer and the lack of cheap foreign labour to use/abuse is affecting Wetherspoon ( and many other pub, restaurant chains).
He only has himself to blame.

When I lived in Derby, we used to go in the Standing Order, on girlie nights out. I was never a fan, tbh. The building is lovely, but the high ceiling and lack of music, makes everyone's voices echoey, so it is really noisy.

Lee, you'd think that if Weatherspoon decided to move into a beautifully ornate place like this, that they'd put some effort into great meal preparation and quality that's befitting such an ambiance. Disappointing fore sure.
Please bring the Blond Angel on more of your adventures! You are even more animated and she is a beautiful companion who understands you and is a great amplifier of your very interesting personality. You both are a great joy to watch no matter what you are doing or where you are. Also, I have the impression that she can handle range anxiety better than you do having her with you is wonderful psychotherapy. Watching your videos is really helpful psychotherapy for me also! There’s no chicken because this current bird “flu” outbreak has done for them all, so my farmer friend tells me. That’s why there’s no eggs in the shops. He also tells me that there will be very few turkeys at Xmas for the same reason. Depressing country this isn’t it???

There are eggs in most places and I've also seen chickens in shops and chicken on dinners etc, had some today in a Spoon's actually. Never been told 'no chicken' as yet.

Incredible how it’s so long since you’ve returned to Derby. My other half was in the Standing order the previous day & had Steak & chips. Said was decent (For Spoons). Your exactly right Spoons can be so indifferent depending on which day you visit. Shame you both had a horror show with your meals

Lloyds No.1 bars originally were a small handful of 'Spoons with music and aimed more at the younger crowd with DJ's and open later. They were bought from Wolverhampton and Dudley brewery about 20 odd years ago.
They used to be called just "Lloyds No.1" but now they have had a pub name added to that title.

Secondly,. I have an idea for your next EV Video, I have always argued that EV fans never talk about the cost of cold weather on EV Batteries SO, can I suggest repeating a journey you have done in the Summer , do it now on a cold, rainy, dull day & let us know how range is affected !

Derby, the City I was born in. I said on your Spoons Curry vlog that the The Standing Order bogs are in the Sky. I remember well from Friday night beers years ago. Always a great night out in Derby! I’ve always enjoyed Spoons pubs but only for drinks ever since I had frozen roast potatoes in a Sunday lunch in High Holborn.
Mister Macmaster that was an excellent vlog with Ange. She was on top form...glad I'm not the only one who struggle to get on my feet after kneeling down..bloody ageing process...as for the spoons food..mmm..think room for improvement 🤔 thankfully the rapport between you both made up for what Was disappointing fayre! Hope to see more of you both doing Christmas menus as the days tock along 😀

Usually get a good meal , breakfast and since it's been refurbished is a way to the loo. Always check the app thar generally shows what's not available then go next door to the Leaper 👍 good to see Ang

Hey there MacMaster hope your good,my finance and me went to weatherspoons the other week in Halifax we both got a wrap and a panni each and it came without the salad 🥗 and chips 🍟 but for the same price,plus it was dreadful, cold very sad 😥 looking, again table was dirty,very disappointed 😞,just had to let you know,keep up the good work you do much love from Melissa and Tom xxxx

Just a thought if no-one has mentioned it. Next Spoons you attend - give them a quick ring and ask if all items are on the Xmas menu before you go. I realise you shouldn't have to but it may help the review if you know the food is available. Great as always and that extra pizzaz with the Blonde Angel in attendance!! 😁👌👍

As your a frequent visitor to Wetherspoons I'm thinking the Blonde Angel should perhaps consider carrying a damp soapy cloth in her handbag to wipe the table when you sit down she could keep it in one of those zip lock plastic bags widely available. The meal you had didn't look good and it reminds me why I rarely have anything to eat at there establishments.
There's a River Derwent near me too, runs into the Tyne at Derwenthaugh.
That comment “ we’ve got supply issues “ seems to be a standard excuse in lots of restaurants. I’ve stayed at 2 Premier Inns in the last few months and half the choices on the menu were out of stock with that same excuse but later overheard a manager telling a chef to up his game to get stock ordered when they was getting low. What is going on nowadays. 🙄

Went to my local Spoons today to try the Christmas dinner. They didn’t have it. So ordered the chicken, stuffing, bacon and cranberry panini. After I’d order and paid on the app they came over to say they didn’t have it. Got the Brie and cranberry panini. Partner want the Christmas dinner, ended up getting chicken korma with garlic nan. His dish was awful, the nan had a pool of oil on it. The rice was burnt, the chicken was rubbery and the sauce just tasted too buttery. Mine was okay, although the bread was a bit chewy! And it was not what I wanted. Usually the food is much better. Will be a while before we go back, like you we didn’t eat our meals. Other half said his dish was a 1 for the Pepsi. I’d probably say 4.5 for mine.
Food just looked bland and unappealing. Could have made it yourself and saved a fortune.
I am derby though and though great to see you in best town shame the shopping Centre Christmas decorations have not been put yet

Lloyd's are the only spoons that play music and are a bit more bar like at night.

Left the UK in 94 thank, God I only had a couple of years of Spoons. Hate them, they basically killed off the local.
In this country (UK) if we are not happy with the food ... We ask for and get a full refund

The burgers never taste of much at spoons to me but I had the mixed grill two nights ago at the Gog and Magog in Plymouth and it was good. Going back for the Christmas meal next week.

So, you visit Derby and dont tell me !!! I could have joined you in Wetherspoons, or even given you some other ideas of places to visit. Huh. The Derby Ram statue is in East Street, not far from the old Derby Telegraph office at Northcliffe House. However we also have some Ram statues from the Derby Ram Trail back in 2021 all over the City. As for your comments about Derby County well back in the days of Clough, Taylor and MacKay we had our glory days. Maybe one day we will have the good times again. Shame about your food, but as you said the building is lovely. The Thomas Leaper next door is for sale, perhaps you need to try that before it goes? Up the Rams xx
I used to be a big fan of Wetherspoons. But they have deteriorated quite a bit. The breakfasts are not too bad to be fair.
I used to love their fish and chips but that's gone downhill too.

If you want a good spoons I recommend the quary side in newcastle. Quality bar 🌟 The food at this spoons look like dog 🐕 💩 The bacon 🥓 so fatty. An absolute disgrace 😤

You can Microwave bread buns at very low , lay them on 2 chopsticks if you do / only for 2 mins ish like fresh baked. stops tough base
I work for spoons in the kitchen and all pubs have been restricted on the amount of Christmas food they can order to make sure every pub has some and not one and not the other, same applies to eggs and pancakes etc at the moment.
When you go to a big pub that’s busier like the one in the video, they are likely to be sold out most of the time.
Issue is not spoons, it’s the suppliers, they can’t keep up with the demand from the customers.
To ensure customers have the best chance of getting the Christmas menu, staff are also currently not allowed to eat the Christmas food.
As a spoonie my advice for customers that wanna try the new food is to stick to the quieter pubs rather than the big and bold ones.
No excuse for dirty tables though! Have a great day 👍

OMG , awful and i could see from here that the bread was stale . However, very happy memories of the Assembly Rooms , watched so many greats perform there . Four Tops , Commodores , Edwin Starr , Hot Chocolate, The Real Thing , The Drifters , The Supremes , Gloria Gaynor and I think it was there that I saw Aretha Franklin . Good times on the coach trips with mates from Mansfield . Thanks Lee and Ange ❤

Hell No!... That looked bloody disgusting Ang & Lee... What on earth is happening to Wetherspoons lately... The tiny Burger you had in Leeds City Centre recently had stale Burger Buns too!... Are Wetherspoons only buying almost out of date Buns these days or what?... And as for the member of staff with the attitude problem slamming down Angie's Pigs in Blankets... That person needs to readjust their attitude real quick or resign... If a paying customer has paid for various items that are listed on the menu... Then they should all be on their plate... Like Angie's Pigs in Blankets... If they're missing from your meal... Then you have every right to have those missing items provided and delivered to your table... After all you've paid for them...
But having Salad items that are also on the turn... Shows a complete lack of food safety management and responsibility... If food being served to customers isn't fresh... Then how can customers ever trust a company that serves food that should be thrown out and used as Pigswill... Even Angie's Chips weren't cooked thoroughly enough... I know you don't like complaining Lee... But if nobody ever complains and makes a fuss... Then they'll just keep doing the same thing... Because they'll believe in their own eyes that they've actually done a good enough job... When in reality they've messed up big time... And will have probably ruined a meal out for paying customers... Sorry but 0/10 is all it deserves guys... 🤮 Yuk!.
Lee, the burger you had was pretty much the same as the heatwave burger sans the cheese, hot mayo & hash brown. It’s weird how they are so variable where you are. I had the same burger here and it was fine.

That explains why the Penderel's Oak in Holborn London didn't have the Xmas Menu. When I went there yesterday. Clean tables Staff went beyond service i.e. the server came to find us to say the beer I had asker about was now back on the pump. I meet up with some old work colleague for a Friday fish lunch. I had a red plate my friends had 2 blue plates but with different patterns. Chips were countable peas were not fish was well superb. A good 9.8
I’d boycott it completely, wouldn’t even buy a drink in there.
