    I read this interesting review from someone from B&H: So this has amazing features, you get the 360 barrel roll, locking mechanisms for easy travel, its lightweight and still built well, plus a claim of 6 pound load capacity. It all sounds good, right?
    Well, there are cons. First, this gimbal cannot hold 6 pounds unless the camera is perfectly balanced. What I mean is the lens and camera need to weigh the same in order to balance well on this gimbal to get that 6 pound claim (which is very unlikely to do since usually lenses are ether more or less then the body). So when your using uneven weights, say your camera is 1 pound and the lens is 2 pounds then it gets tricky to balance because Zhiyun limited the amount of space you have to for changing the axises.
    Its for definitely mirrorless. I have a Canon M50 and wanted a nice gimbal to use with that. I also have a 5DM4 and thought maybe for fun that could balance since with a 16-35mm f4 its under 6 pounds. Welp, it can balance actually if you really try, but the second you turn on the gimbal (with high motor sensitivity) and move it around, the motors give out and there goes your camera with it. So do not use DSLRs (even mid-sized ones like the 80D). Youll have spend $300 more for the Crane 3 LAB or get the Ronin-S (or last years Crane 2). This gimbal is more of a Crane V2 replacement. But I bought this for my M50, not my 5D, so Im too upset over that.
    Back to mirrorless. Like I said earlier, you cant use heavy lenses with a lightweight mirrorless camera on this gimbal. There simply isnt room on all of the axises to balance it correctly. Itd be possible if Zhiyun comes out with counter weights of some kind, but until then, you gotta stick with the small lightweight lenses.
    On the good side, as long as you have a small lightweight setup (Canon M50 with 10-18mm), youll love this thing! The gimbal itself is super lightweight which is the reason why I got it (less weight equals less breaks during shoots). The locking mechanisms work great for balance and I love the new button layout compared to the Crane 2, I do wish this gimbal came with the follow focus (but they wanted to keep the price down I guess).
    So overall, if you have a lightweight setup (better if you have Sony or Panasonic cameras), this is the gimbal for you! The design is fantastic (I love the handle change for low shots) and I give probs to Zhiyun for trying something different. I just dont like how the 6 pound claim is basically a false claim unless you have a very, very particular camera setup.
    I have yet to use the Zhiyun app yet, but I can tell you the Canon M series isnt supported. If you try to plug in the cable, it actually crashes your camera (you have to pull the battery out to restart it). So stick to Sony or Panasonic cameras if you want to use the smartphone and on-gimbal camera controls.

    The Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 lens with Speed-booster and filter on a Lumix GH5 is considered by many as the most versatile one-lens solution for the GH5. I believe Zhiyun would sell many Weebill if the GH5 setup was tested and demoed. The combination comes to around 1,800 grams which is around 1,000 grams "Under" the Weebill weight limit. Will hope for a test/demo of the combination. Thank you. 👍

    As a person new to Cameras and Gimbals, I have to say, after watching quite a few YT vids on balancing and connecting the camera to it, I like the gimbal a lot. Sadly, I have no other reference point to go, having never had either a camera or gimbal, prior to last week. I picked up an a6000 and the Weebill Lab (both used) and am actually enjoying them both. The Weebill was very easy to pick up and use. Thankfully I have a camera backpack that fits the Weebill perfectly. I don't need to change any adjustments to stow it away (the locking points are perfect for this), so the a6000 pretty much gets attached and it's balanced and ready to go in literally 30 seconds. Great review/overview!

    I was looking forward to the Weebill lab, but the footage is really shakey, and well, the main job for a gimbal is to avoid that. I don't buy that the EOS R + 24-105 lense is the max optimal payload, that's about 3.3 lbs total, for a gimbal supposed to handle up to 6.6 lbs. How much lighter can a mirrorless setup be.

  • @DonGutierrez
    @DonGutierrez Před 5 lety +1

    Based off your side by side comparison, it looks a little shaky compared to the Zhiyun Crane 2. Gonna go and take a stab at it and say that the Crane 2's motors can handle much heavier payloads. Especially right around 3:59-4:00 it just seems a bit bumpier. Even though the setups are a little different too(EOS R 24-105 vs A7III 24-70), they shouldn't be too far weight wise, so yeah, I'd say its probably right at it's limit.
    Definitely feels more geared towards smaller and lighter setups. The form factor definitely must be nice to simply fold and lock in the bag. Pair this with an A7III or A6500 and a wide lens and I'm sure this setup is pretty nice run and gun.
    Great video all around though Sidney, Can't wait to see your take on the Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab!

      Sidney Diongzon Can you make a follow up video to compare just the video smoothness if you swap cameras with gimbals. Example put the A7iii on the Weebill lab and EOSr on the Crane 2. This way we can determine if the more smooth footage from the A7iii is coming from the IBIS or Crane 2 gimbal. I'm a bit concerned because i have the A7iii and a Weebill Lab on preorder. Hi Sidney, nice review ! You were right... I sold my Feiyu a1000 for a better gimble. Do you think the Weebill could fit with the a6500 and the kit lens 18-105 ? Or the balancing will be to difficult due to the space between the back motor of the gimble and the camera ?

    Nice one mate. Just to clear things out, is weebill lab able to control the camera focus without the focus rig motor that is supposed to be attached by the camera lens? I mean can you focus the lens just trough the cable and the dial button designed on the gimbal? Cheers

    Bananas are great and the gimbal is too small for me but seems like a nice entry into the market. Will hold out for the Teases Crane 3 LAB. I had the DJI Ronin-S but in DJI fashion, it was released too early and a lot of the features that they claimed it had did not work on either of my cameras so back it went. Plus it is a heavy SOB. When will you be reviewing the Teases Crane 3 LAB?
