Week 6 of The Summer of Steven Seagal brings us to the one and only film the man directed himself, On Deadly Ground. Set in Alaska, Seagal plays Forrest Taft, a whatever thingy with Seagal powers that must go against the EVIL EVIL EEEEEVIL Oil company, that is drilling for EVIL money to fund their EVIL empire of EVIL. You could say they were depicted a bit less than believable.. But was it at least entertaining?

This movie was amazing as a kid and I think anyone over the age of 30 considered it an amazing movie as well. You got to remember that people's movie standards were much, MUCH lower back in the day. 《Even back in the 90s when I watched it!》

I mean... I've seen all of the mans movies... He is no better or worse then the hype any other action star got back in the day. Only I liked the action and plot of the other movies. Lee, Chan, Norris, VanDam, and many others had some good action movies. Not liking Segal or fairly reviewing the movies in a funny way is alright. Doesn't make him an effeminate for having the taste I think getting a hard-on for a guy Segal is kind of telling though.
No seriously, some actors can pull off the I'm invincible crap like Chuck Norris. But Jet Lee, Jackie Chan and even Van Dame had to take some major licks. And sell that shit like they were dealing with the WWE and from what I hear this actor isn't so nice to his stunt guys or to others in general. 2018 and we have some expectations of Action Heros that weren't shown back in the day.

You absolutely can set C4 as an implosion charge. It is known as a shaping charge in demolitions. It is not easy, and requires either multiple detonators or a force diverter, but nuclear weapons use implosion as a method to spark fission. Now was the charge he set anything remotely close to implosion spec? Hell no. But it is possible to do.

It came off as too "preachy", in my opinion. I respect the fact, that he cares for the environment. I just do not think it works, for an action movie.

ONE OF THE BEST SEAGAL MOVIES BETTER THAN UNDER SEIGE 1/2 THE FIRST UNDER SEIGE HAD ERIKA SO IRRITATING, THE EXTRAS WERE BAD ACTORS AND I FELT NO THREAT FROM THE TERRORIST GROUP AS THEY ONLY APPROACHED SEAGAL AND FRIENDS IN THREES AND ,FOURS, PLUS IT WAS IN DARK CORRIDORS OF THE MISSOURI ,ON DEADLY GROUND ON THE OTHER HAND HAD A BEAUTIFUL THEME SCORE AND THE SCENIC BACKDROP OF ALASKA WAS BEAUTIFUL I FELT FOR HUGH AS HE WAS TORTURED I CHEERED WHEN THE RACIST OIL WORKER SAW THE ERRORS OF HIS WAYS AND LOVED THE FACT JENNINGS HAD NO CONCEINCE

I really don't get the plot of this movie. I understand the reason that Michael Cain wants to rush the platform into operation, but the data on the platform CLEARLY shows that the preventers are going to fail. And it's not just one issue, it's a FUCK ton of issues. Even if Michael Cain's character is a cartoon level of villain that only cares about money, he wouldn't put a platform online that is clearly going to fail upon operation startup. The company would have to pretty much rebuild the platform when it inevitably fails which would cost a shit load of money and that's not even including any potential injury settlements, legal ramifications and negative publicity they would have to deal with. I would maybe give a pass if Michael Cain didn't know about the faulty equipment, but it's established that he clearly does. Joke of a fucking plot.

That's only really true in Canada and Greenland, it's not quite so simple in Alaska (or Siberia) because the most common group, the Yupik, aren't Inuit. Eskimo is actually the more accepted collective term there: calling a Yupik an Inuit is like calling an Englishman a Frenchman or a Pole a Russian.

It's so funny , seagal dips his hand into water that turns to oil and is told this polluting of the earth stuff is bad so....fuck taking the dog sled back to civilization lets take the GAS and OIL powered snowmobile that these Eskimos some how have because....well, its fun to take out after a hard day of ice fishing??? This movie contradicts itself at every turn , it preaches a "Save the Environment" message but then the actions of all the characters (even the eskimos) are seen to do the exact opposite to further the plot. You cant have a guy blowing up oil refineries having incredibly dangerous chemicals and smoke billowing into the air and have Eskimos with gas powered snowmobiles behind their animal skin tents and still act as if all ur actions are somehow justified or are helping to save the environment. This is why hack actors should never try to be directors.

I disagree. Usually when a movie is "so bad it's good", it was done intentionally, as a form of light morbid humor if you could describe it. This is a steaming pile of self-serving radioactive dung. I totally forgot how awful it was and cannot really remember much except for Billy Bob rambling about how to position his rifle's buttstock and Seagal's bizarre-as-hell slap fight in the bar.
