    This worked for me. Tying the positive and negative and waiting about an hour then even used the second part but didn’t wait 5 minutes

    • @andrewhigdon8346
      @andrewhigdon8346 Před rokem +7

      @@MrRyanlipp1980 use whatever you need, bungee cord, Vice grips, clamp, whatever, but disconnect the battery cables, both of them, go inside the vehicle and turn on headlights, honk the horn, pump the brake pedal several times. Then make both battery cables touch connectors together, and use whatever to hold them together for as long as you have to work with, at least an hour, or overnight if you can. The duration really might not matter much, but the idea is for any capacitors in the electrical system to fully discharge, and different vehicles have different options, etc. Doing the horn honk, headlights, are both to help discharge capacitors in the system, and pumping the brakes makes the ABS pump work, yet another way to get all the residual voltage out of the rig. So at minimum, disconnect, pump the brakes several times, then connect the connectors on the battery cables for at least an hour. Reconnect them to the battery, drive it. The vehicle will behave a bit differently at first until it “learns” your driving style, and since at first it will have less samples to compare to, some of what you do at first will make adaptations somewhat exaggerated. For example, I made the mistake of using the shifter to hold gears while in traffic, and it took a few days of driving before it would shift into 5th gear on the highway, because it “thought “ I liked holding gears, but that resolved itself. If you drive very conservatively it will shift earlier. Please note that while doing the horn, lights, brakes thing none of that will work, which is expected. Always disconnec t the negative battery cable first. Always. And reconnect that one last. After all of this, it might not change a thing. If it does not change anything, whatever issue you had most likely had nothing wrong with the “adaptive learning” part of the program, and most likely your Transmission Control Module is fine. I’m not THE expert, but it seems like, as with our PCs, the computer gets “confused” and becomes much more slow to react. Think of this procedure as the same as the unplug, plug back in scenario.

    Sooo... my transmission was acting all funny when trying to shift from 3rd gear to 4th. Got a C-READER 3001 (30$ on amazon), plugged it and it was showing "P1741 CODE ERROR" so I unplugged the battery, pressed all the electronic buttons + gas / brakes for about minute, I taped both positive and negative cables together for one hour and now my 2017 Dodge Caravan works fine!

Before this happened when cold or if I haven’t driven in 3 or 4 days when first driving seemed to have hard time shifting 1st to 2nd and made a clunky noise but usually afterwards would shift fine but now seems stuck in 2nd gear and engine light came on afterwards…😢

Pressed the start button to put in run mode, but don’t start the engine, don’t press brake then when in run mode, pressed and held the accelerator pedal for 15 sec. After 15 sec I turned everything off. I sat in the car and waited like 10 min or so until everything turned off then I started the engine and did a test drive. Everything is shifting normally again now. Took a few more drives for the check engine light to go away, and finally it did. Drove for a few days now. Everything seems ok now…

      I have been experiencing the same problems (2019 RAM) It seems that at the time you come to a stop, the gear stays in 2nd, and after you press the accelerator the gear drops abruptly to 1st causing an unpleasent kick, and I know this will be causing future joint failure when miles add up.

    • @ej2civicb736
      @ej2civicb736 Před rokem

      Your transmission is bad my friend no electronic can fix that sounds like bad pump or broken sun gear something internally bad in the trans unless you transfer case somehow went to neutral and stuck in that position so the input and output just free wheel but try and put it in 4low and 4 high and neutral on transfer case and see if it does anything but also get someone to hook up a pressure gauge to the transmission to check line pressure that will tell you if it's the pump or not but this was a month ago I'm sure u got it fixed I noticed that after I typed all this out but I bought a 96 reg cab 1500 4x4 5.9 super clean for 1k but it won't go over 35 has all 4 gears convertor even locks but at 35mph its almost 4k rpms or higher so I'm praying the transfercase is somehow stuck in 4low but the selector is in 2wd so it does not lock the front dif but will not go to neutral or 4low but 4high works so was urs trans or tcase stuck in neutral

      2 yra ago my 2014 Ram Transmission went and at the dealership with parts, fluid and labor that was a $7,000 dollar job.
      I'd only imagine with inflation it's higher now.
      Not to mention Dodge/Ram has discontinued the Hemi 5.7 engine. As of Jan 2024 their new engine is going to be called Hurricane. Imagine the cost/shortage it will be for parts and possibly auto insurance going up if you've got one.

      Hello 👋 It sounds like the mechanic broke the starter when replacing your transmission because you have to remove the starter in order to access the torque converter bolts! The mechanic most definitely destroyed the starter prying on it or broke wires on hooking it 👍🏻
