Cool video, about to do my saloon. I have the nicer 17inch oem wheels going up for sale. You can have them cheap if youd like them. Gets them out my way and helps a fellow 40.
did you use the old top mounts and bushings on the new coilovers because im about to do the exact same on my v40 bar the rears i have new bush repair kit for those
Today I also lowered my v40 on coilovers, but I ran into a problem. The rear coilovers come with a kind of triangular cap that should go on top the spring in the rear, but I was unable to put it on because I didn't know where to place it. Now I used the original cap that holds the spring in place on the coilover and upt it in the car. but the car bounces a bit in the back when driving fast on flat roads, why is this and what is this triangular hat for?
Hello, I'm not too sure to be honest what the "triangular hat" is for, was it maybe part of the top mount? Not too sure without looking at it. They are quite bouncy depending on the coilovers, mine on these coilovers bounced all over when I was driving fast!
Thanks for the info man ^^, just one nore question that popped up :P, do you notice something in the allignment of the wheels? Like irregular tirewear or anything? Or is it not needed to re-allign the wheels after installing coilovers? (A total newb when it comes to suspension stuff and my mind yells at me that they need to be re-alligned but i hope im wrong xD)
@@MrHappyHerb No problem! Yeah you definitely do need alignment after any suspension work that is as involved as coilover installation. You can get it pretty close just eyeballing it but definitely needs aligning to not chew through tyres etc!
The techniques should be, the coilover link I put below I'm not sure, just check with the compatibility checker in the item description or ask the seller :)
Hope everything goes smoothly putting them on! I used just the actual top mounts themselves, it's like a full unit with the metal mount and a bushing inside if I remember right. Re-used all 4 as they seemed fine
@@genericcarchannel ah no worries, yeah so the coilovers I bought came with everything apart from top mount, obviously might vary depending which you bought but in my experience putting coilovers on most cars I've bought (because I'm an idiot) they usually come with most bits apart from top mounts! 😀

Thank you! I appreciate that but I've actually got rid of the car now as I have no self control

I did yes, however I have now got some top mounts to replace them as the fronts have started making noise since disturbing them
