Great interview Scott…love Candy. 💜
Thanx, Candy is truly an inspiration...
Great interview. I love hearing these non-Revolution related interviews. It gives us more perspective into the grown-up musician Prince. People forget that Candy was a major part of Prince's sound and actually spent more time with him than Wendy or Lisa.
And unlike Wendy she dosnt overrate her own segnificent in her relation to Prince
Can you tell me what albums/songs she worked on with him? I'm curious.
@@jaybo8043 Candy was a part of the NPG from 1998 to 2004, and did guest appearances with Prince in concerts and talk showes even after that. She was with him on the Musicology tour, which I was lucky enough to catch of two separate dates, played on the song Partyman, and numerous other songs. If you listen carefully, you can sometimes here her parts during the horn section. She played along Maceo Parker at time when he was with the NPG as well. Candy was already an establishment musician when she met Prince, much like Sheila E. who would later become one of his band directors. I think he liked to work with women who had experience. It meant that he didn't have to do as much hand-holding.
Catching this late but better than never.
Man you tease us with all these upcoming episodes. I got all excited and started typing in Ricky Peterson and Levi saucer. Lol

The Dutch are always good , and always have been good , at selling their country as being something special. Candy Dulfer is clearly Dutch in that regard. The hype is not always justified though.
Cabis lupus howling to the Moon, Native, play that Funky Music, wild child, you got that! Rewilding is spot on, minus wise photography, wolves do have great hearing, just do not try to outrun them!
Great interview Scott! I love all your interviews keep up the good work. BTW What software are you using on your computer for conducting these chats with artists ?
Usually using Zoom and OBS.
🤘🏽👽💜
Super interesting interview, Scott!
As a lover of funk I wonder if you’ve heard of Swedish trio Dirty Loops yet…
Their bass player Henrik Linder plays some epic funk bass, is good a verbalizing his many deep thoughts, good at telling stories too and would make a great and very interesting interview subject, I feel.
Would love to see him and his playing represented on your channel 🔥
Thanks, Scott 👍
Thanks for the recommendation, will have to check him out.
@@FunknstuffNet, take any Dirty Loops piece and you’ll hear Henrik’s outstanding playing;
here is a young Dirty Loops track, their 2013 hit “Hit Me”:

Nice, those are some talented boys. Hearing some Stevie Wonder influence in the vocals too. Thank you for sharing, I will look into further when time allows.
@@FunknstuffNet thanks for checking them out.
This is from 2013 -they’ve come a long way since then….
And yeah, I agree, lots of Stevie Wonder influence in Jonah’s singing back then :)
Enjoy the Loops journey ☺️
Btw, digging your channel, the many fascinating interviews and well-made videos. Thanks 🙏
We walk on clay in wooden 👞's...

It's interesting that Candy talks about how not enthralled she was about working with Prince when she started working with him. I was in Europe when she started working with Prince in the late 80s. They are not so ambitious in Europe. A little bit comfortable with their lives. So when ambitious people like Americans like myself who comes around with their crazy ideas. Although they due respect success. So I wasn't surprise with her non -chalent attitude.
💕💕💕💕💕💕💋💋
I AM GENTLEMAN PEACE HEART ICONIC CANDY DULFER
Does Candy substitute for Jazz, or does Candy got Jazz's Mass!
Listening to her describing her relationship with Prince & how she was somewhat nonchalant with her opportunity..I wonder if her zodiac sign is virgo
She's 53? Wow!
There's alwatys incredible stories when Prince is involved. And this police escort story is one more of them.
Wow, so she actually got hooked up with Prince from basically being a privileged spoiled dutch brat? 😢
