2010-2017 Chevy 3.6L Water Pump Removal - The EASY Way!

  • These water pumps are on a lot of different vehicles over quite a year range. They're pretty tight to the frame. Getting them physically out can be tricky. To make room I used to remove the harmonic balancer. Easy to do with a good puller but you definitely want to pull all the water pump bolts first. Let it drain the coolant so you don't get that through the front main timing seal and into the crankcase. You could pry the engine back with a prybar but I don't like sticking my digits up into tight spaces and relying on someone not to slip with their prybar... A ratcheting 4-piston style disc pad brake spreader works excellently though! Lots of other tips&tricks to make this job quicker and easier!
