A bowler captain such as Cummins is ridiculous, because as a bowler you have to focus on your plans and as a captain, you have to organise fields and bowling orders. It is very cool.

Personally I would like to see a little bit more of a battle between bat and ball. I still think the IPL is the pinnacle of T20 Cricket but seeing teams fly along at 15 an over isn't as interesting to me. That might be my old school way of thinking as well 😂😂

It's not good for cricket, Nortje is a world class bowler who is getting despatched, and the pitches are a road too. Ridiculous.
Cricket is at its very best (regardless of the format) when there is a genuine competition between bat and ball. The IPL has been pushing things in favour of the bat as much as possible in recent years but this season really has gone too far. I would love to see the IPL remove the impact player rule and provide a bit more balance. I’d also like to see bowlers being able to bowl up to 6 overs instead of 4. This would mean that teams couldn’t ‘time out’ a particularly challenging bowler, and would tip the scales towards being balanced once again.
I am not sure how you think 6 overs is benefitting the bowler. Granted you can use more overs for some bowlers, but in a game of 11 players, allowing 3 bowlers to bowl a maximum 18 overs is not really a positive reinforcement to pick more bowlers or even all rounders. I agree with your earlier comment on removing impact player, but your point completely fails if a bowler bowls 6 over in a 20 over game.
A part of why I love T20 is because it still has some level of similarity to 50 over cricket where you need a bare minimum of 5 bowlers and that point still stands in T20 cricket (besides IPL) because of the 4 over limit so the balance in 11 player still stays
@@zawadsadaf9194 I do agree with you, but at the same time I still think there’s a need to come up with something else to address the lack of balance between bat and ball in the IPL. Getting rid of the impact player rule is a start but it isn’t the whole answer.
@@Yorkshire_Caviar Well I do think its half the answer though, another measure could be to make bowler friendly tracks or (this might be a stretch) go with the older bat dimensions. I doubt they'll go a bowler friendly route given shorter matches would yield major losses for broadcasters.
Love you guys and these pods! I think the IPL needs to remove the impact player again. I prefer there being more room for the all rounders.
I'd find the IPL franchises spreading across the world slightly dull. I like the vitality blast/big bash etc being a completely separate tournament
@@charlottescott7150 Agree I hate the idea of MI New York and MI Cape Town. It's a bit redundant. I want to see the uniqueness of different parts of the globe that plays cricket.
