After seeing 3:12 I have more questions than answers. How exactly does Freeman trigger the alien gun to fire projectiles with his hand inside? Dare I even ask?

The problem is he spent most of his time "is it going to fit" or "Am I really have to stick my hand inside of it",he should sticked instantly and try to find inside that thing a trigger,a some kind of organic extension or organ represents a trigger forget it the solution can be found even just trusting in your instinct,if your willing to put your hand into that thing in the first place.
Trigger mechanism might just be the things prostate...or something similar
The alien grunts don't even have hands so the bigger question is how do THEY fire it?
That's one question I don't think anyone will know the answer to. We don't know how the hell that thing works, much less where the hornets come from!

What's with the Tau Cannon's sound effects? The sounds that play during the animation when you pick up the weapon? They're both the opening and closing sounds for the doors from Doom...

Yes they do, but I don't think they learn to use prototype energy weapons or RPGs. If some of them do, however, I'm not sure Gordon would be one of them.
Gordon received bio-hazard training so he might have not train those weapons but probably lessoned to him

Nucleus classic sights option is not useless since there you can actually see where you are shooting. The bullets don't shoot at the top of the iron sights making them useless

I'm going to come off as the hugest fucking sperg right now but there's something about Gordon and the way he inspects and manipulates guns in BM that doesn't sit well with me. it's strange given how he's literally a blank slate character-wise but he's hard to picture as someone eager or excited about the prospect of handling a firearm. makes him feel more like a brute killing machine instead of someone diving headfirst into a disaster with close to no odds of survival. the way he's depicted there just feels... wrong.
he's an MIT graduate who undertook a very basic weapons training course in case of an emergency, the remake doesn't really give off the vibe that he was there originally to conduct an experiment
