What a ride to watch you react to this. My mum is Norwegian and my dad was Belgian. When KARPE released this album it really spoke to me too, even though both my parents are from western countries. Belgium and Norway are quite similar in many ways, but I’d say they are also equally different.
Sadly my dad died when I was only 4 so there’s always been something missing, of course him, but also a feeling of connection to my own identity. I’ve never lived in Belgium but I’ve never felt Norwegian enough in Norway, and naturally I never feel Belgian enough when I’m in Belgium. Now that I’m older I’ve realised I need to nurture my connection to both instead of neither and so I am working to become more proficient in both French and Flemish (because my family speaks both). I have also sent an extensive application to the embassy in Oslo who then sent it to Belgium to get my Belgian citizenship reinstated (because I lost it due to bad Norwegian bureaucracy). I want to belong and I want to feel closer to my dad. Wish me luck!

They are playing in Brussels in a couple of weeks (May 5th at Le Botanique). My understanding is that they are bringing the entire show: musicians, dancers stage actors etc. (minus probably some of the specially designed stuff (pyro/cage etc) for their 10 concerts in Oslo Spektrum where this is shot. It is worth 30 Euro I would claim.

You know, I grew up listening to these guys and they have always been popular, but tthey really evolved. 20 years ago, they had fun and playful radio hip hop hits about the beach, girls, then more political and growing up and stuff... They got really big with more political and clever stuff. It is in the state they are now though, that they have become absolutely huge artists on another level, embracing their immigrant roots, going hard with the accents and musical references. They were always good, always evolving, but what they are doing now is really strong stuff.

@@SaeedReacts. haha well, not bad 😅 just said that you were right with bezzerwisser - know it all. And the "I know" is "jeg vet" and pronounced the same as dutch, at least how you pronounced it. "Jeg veit" (I know) is a dialect of "jeg vet" 😊

Bepaalde begrippen zijn hetzelfde of uitspreken zijn hetzelfde ook al is de betekenis een beetje anders 😂maar communicatie man dat is een heel andere ding. Gebeuren op heel veel vlakken.❤muziek, art , cultuur energie, gevoelens tussen mensen in ❤ 😮dit maakt mij wel die Bezzerwisser😂😂😂😂💭
"Besser-Wisser" is of course German, but has been "adopted" into the Norwegian language completely. After working close with Germans and German firms, I must say this stereotype is somewhat German and true ... 🤣. If I would translate this to Norwegian it would be "bedre-viter". Quit close to your Dutch?

@@SaeedReacts. I spent much of my childhoods vacations in Ijmuiden, Holland, with friends of my parents. To speek Norwegian was "a piece of cake" for them. Not the other way around, unfortunately! Pronunciation seemed to be the issue. Understanding? No problem!
