The Ford Taurus was the best selling car here in the U.S. for a long time. Next to the Honda Accord. It's been a long time since ive seen one though. Great job getting this one running again! Still looks good!
I bought an '89 Sable Wagon ( identical to this one) with 120,000 miles on it just as a drive to work car/pickup truck. The transmission was slipping and there was an electrical short in the power windows. I changed the transmission fluid and filter and put some JB treatment in it. I installed a toggle switch on the main power wire to the windows and drove it for 5 years and over 200,000 miles on it when I gave it to my friend who then drove it to Alaska! Good old car and sneaky good handling.
But remember that Fords of those days had, whether German or American as seen here, 5-digit speedometers. So 153 000 miles is more likely given the state of the car.
Nice to see an old Taurus still in decent condition. Seems like an import from the US. Registered in Estonia back in 1994. Lots of American cars were imported from US back in early 90's. Many of the vehicles, specially Dodge and Chevy vans had either EU lights fitted or separate turn signals added which looked bit weird. Most of them were run into the ground and ended is scrapyards.

All i remember is that he complained about the prices for spareparts as they had to be ordered especially for him - and there was not much the local Ford dealer could do for him as they had no documents of the Taurus.
There are some running around imported from the US. The analogy with the Sierra/Scorpio isn't a good one because, aside from the logo, everything is different: the Sierra and Scorpio were German-made, rear wheel drive, and had different engines (the Cologne V6s). The Taurus is front wheel drive, had a US V6 (don't remember the name) and they were bigger cars than those two.
