One of my favourite models. The way in for people on a budget to enjoy the BMW aesthetic (lovely proportions, fine detailing, unique shark nose grille, ribbed velour upholstery even in the base model). People sometimes criticise the 316 for being “slow” but I don’t think that was the point of this model. As with the Escort Ghia or Dolomite 1500, it was about quality. A feel for something special that was still relatively affordable to run. Cars from a more interesting age than today’s plethora of SUVs in silver, grey and black. These were the days of Henna Red, Dolphin Blue and Reseda Green, with upholstery choices of charcoal, dark blue, tan, pale green. Wonderful.
What a car ! even rotten-out that engine looks bullet-proof with a bit of basic maintaining it's working nicely, so damn hard to find parts for such rare cars..
Hello, I greet you from Barcelona, Spain. It is admirable what you do, revive an old BMW and also working in the snow and cold. My congratulations, I admit that I live entertaining moments watching your videos.
My former E21 had 110k miles on it. My E32 750iL has 223k miles on it. Once you get past modern BMW cheap plastic and crap technology issues, six figure mileages are not uncommon.
@@houseofno I drive now F11 530d with 294 700 km now and I am pretty satisfied with it. Although I have also W124, 220E, but with the Beemer I have absolutely no problem. Some 300-400€ yearly for oil change and some minor repairs are not big deal
man i dont know how u do it u work out in the rain snow etc. and make treys beautiful cars run again love your channel from your biggiest fan from Massachusetts keep [ up great work
That's an interesting headlight and grille configuration. Usually most E21s had either the dual 7 inch round headlights or the quad 5 3/4" lights. North American spec cars got the quad round headlights.
Dual headlights were fitted to the 316 models, 320's and 323's got quads, as max p said, you could get aftermarket kits for 316's that added the middle two lights.
When you were removing that oil filter that was stuck quite well, remembered about on occation when me and my friend worked on one 1.6 Ascona C and the oil filter on that was frozen solid to the housing. We tried an hour to get it out and finally we were able to get it removed when we just used a knife to shred the seal.
Love how you put all these great stuff on and in (cooling, oil, thermostat) and was shocked when there was no copper washer put on the oildrainplug ;) What rust on this car, and a lot in odd places!
удивляешься какой ресурс был заложен в автомобили 80-90 годов. О таком качестве в наше время остается только мечтать. Даже за большие деньги теперь не купишь по настоящему ресурсный долговечный автомобиль....

nice video. I waited to see when this car will get its own video since I saw it parking aside in another video. My father had one many years ago. It was a 1982 315 (i don't know what's the difference) 1.6L 4-gear manual. The police used to stop us regularly to check we don't speed up...
Hola exelente trabajo como siempre ....gracias por mostrar ese 316 hermoso modelo q noble q eran como siempre los coches de los años dorados puro fierro mecánica mecánica sin electrónica ni chips ....por dios eran maravillosos gracias por el video saludos
Such love and devotion to a car that has already been stripped for parts and is very badly rusted. If nothing else I always learn something even if the work is being done on a write-off.

That one looked too good at first for parts. Then you showed the rust! Amazing that carburetor still worked. Loved your "drive by wire" system!!!

Dieses BMW Modell habe ich 1990 auch einmal besessen. Ein Wunder, dass der Wagen noch anspringt.😁🇩🇪
It sounds EXACTLY like my '87 E30 did. The nostalgy hit very hard! ✌
I actually worked on it when it was a donor car. Took the interior and front bumper apart. Great to see it run!
Thank you for this video. This job was greate.Greetings and thanks from Romania🇷🇴
You are a giant among men for your skill, grit and determination in sometimes very hardh conditions.
My brother used to have this BMW in light red, when I was a kid! It was great.

It was an aftermarket item. Common for lower spec models to gain dedicated high beams

A common option for late model UK cars. The last ‘81-‘83 cars, with the 1766cc engine.
Guys, I can buy a E21, 315i from Greece. Does it worth it at all from

Is it 4 or six cylinder? Sounds really good . Glad you guys got it running again.
4 cylinder, the model is 316
Sounds really good for 4 cylinder. Nice 👍
Tremenda meia sola 👏🏻
I've said it in the past and I'll say it again: M10 motors run forever.
@Flexiny Why do you start the car so many times before changing coolant and oil? Is it on purpose?
Doesn't look too bad considering how long its been sat for
Nice car
why are you putting brand new fresh coolant into it? are you planning on putting this motor back on the road?
