  • Social media is great but can also be misleading. In this video I try and be as upfront as possible about everything I do and don't do. It's a personal message from me to you.

Thank you for this Glynis. I'm trying to learn not to beat myself up when I miss exercise or eat a bit too much, the guilt is real and a leftover from my mother, I was never quite good enough or found to be lacking. Then at my ideal weight I was ' too thin' which was rubbish, I couldn't win. Now post menopause I try to work so hard at keeping fit and the weight off but it is very difficult. I appreciate your honesty, it does help and you look amazing as always.

Its so refreshing to hear you say that even stars have their quirks and ups and downs of life in general and that no one is perfect. I think there is so much emphasis on the perfect lifestyle these days and everyone leads such a busy lifestyle. I certainly do with four children and 3 grandchildren. My life is always busy with work as well and as you say sometimes you need the cake and wine for those treat days!!!😊❤❤ it can be hard to cram everything in.

And unless you're living in some alternative universe, everyone has their challenges. Social media can give such a deceptive view of people's lives.

It was so lovely to hear from you. Thank you for replying. I hope you and your family have had a good Easter so far. I will watch any videos you put onto CZcams. Do you have any quick exercises that you can remmend for busy lifestyles? I was always a fan of Dempsey and Makepeace. How times have changed. I met my husband in Nov 1989 when you married Michael and we have been married 33 years this April.
I hope you continue with all your different tips as so many people can get different sorts of information from them 🙂

You’re so lovely Glynis, thanks for sharing that. I identified with a lot of what you were saying. My friends know me to ‘try’ and lead a healthy lifestyle most of the time, but, absolutely, like you, I have plenty of days when I miss taking my daily exercise and just sit on the sofa watching Netflix! I don’t have a sweet tooth though, for me it’s savoury; cheese and crisps! And boy, how many of us as women would want to put up a ‘crap’ photo?! 😂 I think it’s about striving to be the best version of yourself, but also recognising the reality is, like you say, none of us are perfect. I’ve always been a fan of yours Glynis, and really enjoy your inspiring posts on your channels. Thank-you 😊

I was over at Ageless looking for something completely different, but then I found your article on #ThatGirl (such a powerful article, so well written and so thoroughly researched), and after reading I clicked your link which brought me to this gem of a video. I think in many ways you are #ThatGirl to many of us, but your down to earth attitude and honesty regarding your *gasp* flaws also make you the antithesis of #ThatGirl. You’re admired for your tips and advice, certainly, but I think the overwhelming message I have come away with is that it’s all about finding that balance between being healthy, and also being able to enjoy the naughtier things in life.

This made me smile. Yes you are right. Whilst I'm an ardent supporter of a healthy lifestyle, I also think life should have a bit of naughtiness, treats, and fun. Pleasure does us good. All things in moderation.

Hey Glynis, thanks for this post, lovely. It’s always so refreshing to see someone being honest on social media, and not trying to show off or perpetuate an image of themselves that this wish was true. As for social media generally, it’s great to take a break from it sometimes, and not worry about how ‘likes’ you get from a Facebook post! And this may sound a bit twee, but in these troubled times, we should be grateful for what we do have, be honest, and be supportive of each other. And you do that very well. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday 👍 ⭐️ X

Thank you for this wonderful video Glynis - I think many people believe everything they see on Social media. As we know a lot is tarted up. Thank you again Glynis for being so honest about how your real life is - even down to the cake! I adore cake too❤️ Alot of women need to watch videos like this and stop beating themselves up! PS - just finished watching Dempsey and Make peace. I have to say I enjoyed it as much this time as I did first time around. Best Wishes Sam xx

Great insight on humane nature and words told in a so soothing voice...💖 The fact that you accept the simple pleasures of life as they come to you and still manage to lead your life in such a healthy way is what makes you a wonderful person. You accept who you are in every way... I wish you all the best Glynis... Always... Love from sunny France.(today) 😘😘😘☀️

Thanks for sharing and your honesty x Just watched a documentary on BBC iplayer - The Instragram Effect - very interesting, I feel sorry for young people struggling with weight and self harm. On a side note, as a young teen I was influenced by what Isaw because I thought that because my nose is long and not straight I could never be pretty 😣

One very down to earth lady who's actually very challenging in a debate :) - Although I'm sure I did read some where that when you visit friends you have a tendency to go down their fridge freezers and chuck out all their unhealthy grub :)

Ha ha no I don't just barge into people's fridges! However when I bought out my book The In-Sync Diet I did do a series of videos of going into people's fridges. It was great fun.
