I don't think this scene was supposed to make me laugh out loud, but it did. The way they show just how much our group has gone through in comparison to others and showing that it has changed them beyond anyone else was really amusing. Like it was just another day for Rick and crew.

actually, before Negan appear, Rick was the one who nocks, basically, he was playing Negan's role
You know, I don't know if it's just me or actually planned for by the writers, but this kind of reminds me of the scene back in S1E3 where Daryl 1st met Rick when he arrived at the Atlanta Camp and tried to kill him for what happened to Daryl. Ethan is trying to kill Gregory for his brother Craig (which was not in the comics btw), but the difference here is that (unlike in Tell It To The Frogs) Rick didn't kill Daryl despite being warned about him, yet he straight up killed Ethan after this 1 encounter and having no knowledge about the situation. Just shows how much the characters have changed over the course of the show.

Also remember in season 1 the world had just entered the apocalypse. Rick probably had all his humanity in him unlike in this scene.

Playfulpanthress (SPOILERS) In the comics, Negan broke Rick's leg and now Rick is crippled using a cane. (Now this is where I'm unsure of how the fight will play out due to me not thinking they will cripple Rick, but then again, this story arc has a lot to do with Rick's inability to fight) There is a threat of a group called the Whisperers, who skin walkers and dress like them to look exactly like the walkers, and they kill you and shit. (Think of walker with knives. Something you wouldn't expect) There are thousands of them btw. Stuff happens and Rick is holding back on taking action or something, I don't really remember but Rick at this time is more light hearted due to defeating Negan and living 2 years without a problem after Negan's defeat. Also because Negan cripples Rick in their final fight and he cant really fight physically anymore. There is a 2 year time jump after Negan btw. Anyways, the Alexandrians want Rick to take action and become who he use to be, which is the Rick you will see in Season 7 and 8 maybe which is a badass war leader. So two of the jump him and try to scare him. But More so then now. The identity of the attackers are revealed to Rick during the fight, so one of the guys (attacker 1) decides that" he saw us, so we have no choice but to kill him", so he continues to beat down Rick and the other guy (attacker 2) tries to stop him from killing Rick, and knocks the melee weapon out of attacker 1's hands and then when attacker 1 leans over Rick, who is laying on his back, to retrieve his weapon Rick bites his throat out and attacker 2 runs away. Maggie finds Rick and stuff and Rick is provided medical help.
