I’ll never forget the global weekly hype that this show had back in this era.
Now nobody cares and the show is god awful
@@Joewishh it’s not awful but it’s not that good
Yo life bricks I didn’t expect to see you here!
They killed all badass characters now show has lot of females who are boring. And from.killing zombies they went to men kissing each other.pathetic
@@BuildSituation Wow, a gay couple…how pathetic
That scene with the slow reveal that Carl was shot and then Rick & Michonne leaping into action to get him to safety was truly badass.
Their love for Carl was so evident in those moments…especially on Michonne’s face.
It really was great.
We always knew Rick loved Carl, but we got to really see how much Michonne had grown to love him, too.
i love when she smooches carl's forhead before she runs out to help rick
When Rick goes out in slow mo and the door closing behind him then going to town gave me goosebumps
That's my favorite part of this episode. Incredible acting!
omg i was ready to jump thru the screen and start slashing when carl got shot
@@sunnyshineti saw that and went “omg aweeee” it was so cute
No one ever mentions this but this episode was a turning point in the show for the crew. Every place they had been before from the camp to the prison to the farm had been overtaken by walkers. This was the first time they manage to defend a home from a walker horde.
Oooh good point I never really thought about that
It still gives me chills the moment Carl turns around with his eye shot out & simply says “Dad?” Their acting was phenomenal cause that scene felt real.
‘‘Twas good but still think the comic book did these scenes the best. I was honestly just surprised they did the scenes at all considering how insane it is in the comic book, it wasn’t perfect but good enough
Bruh you get your eye shot out you’re not gonna stand there all dazed like ‘dAd?’. You’re gonna be writhing on the floor in pain. "Realistic" lol
@@TheSCPStudio notice how he said "felt" real, I'll be honest and admit I don't really know what its like to get a hole in your head from a gunshot but It was probably a mix of being in shock and filled with adrenaline that would give Carl that kind of reaction, kinda like how a soldier might be dazed and confused rather than screaming beacuse his leg just got blown off by a landmine.
@@nikopteros1659exactly also he had to stay calm because there were walkers around
I don’t think the Wolf’s last scene is supposed to show that he’s a changed man, but just that he is CAPABLE of change, proving Morgan’s “where there is life, there is possibility” correct.
Agreed. He can change and join Rick's group, Why? look at Morgan. He killed tons of ppl too during his crazy phase but he changed.
Sounds about right. But also I legitimately don’t believe the guy would have ever fit into their group he’s still too much of a risk. He thought murder was “saving people” he also had zero emotion whatsoever which leads me to believe he’s a sociopath and there really is no coming back from that, just glimpses of humanity.
@@icetea5807 Rick has a special relationship with Morgan, he doesn't even have such a relationship with Daryl, Glenn or Michonne he is eternally loyal to Morgan as without him there would have been no him. He would have killed that wolf him self if he saw him as in his eyes the wolves are madman who put his family in the most dangerous situation possible. And singlehandedly destroyed his whole plan to save Alexandria.
another thing to note that typewrite didnt, when the wolf was being attacked after being shot by carl he shouts to denise to go a few times. and when the camera pans up to carol she looks like she heard it and partly regretted it
The thing is: even though the plot thread with the Wolf confirming Morgan’s philosophy was kinda brilliant, it then ends up getting squashed a season later when Morgan chokes one of the Kingdom’s own people to death (not that he didn’t have valid reasons but it made Morgan’s ENTIRE “philosophy change” seem flaky).
Seeing Rick just march out for blood and going absolutely apeshit was awesome alone, seeing Everybody come and fight was like an Endgame moment for me, just sent shivers down me when i watched.
God I love this show.
I think it's also when gabriel stopped being such a pacifist or coward whichever you choose
@@Errenyaegerrr he was a coward back in season 5 when he told Rick he let people get eaten because he was too scared to open the door
I’m a s1 and 2 fan but holy shit that was the most badass scene in the entire show it was heart pounding I loved it
I loved it when just shots of all characters just swinging started going fast
This would be my second best adrenylin pumping scene, i'd still give Tyrese the no. 1 spot at melee when he lost his mind and go apeshit on the walkers when everyone thought he was dead and he made it out, by himself, surrounded by walkers and just start hacking with his hammer, now that's crazy!!!
Rick taking out his hatchet, does his death stare and walks out planning to kill all the walkers alone is literally one of the most badass moment I've ever seen.
FR! you see him grab the hatchet and look at the door and you just know shit's about to go down. Also provided much needed inspiration to everybody left that maybe they can fight back.
@@chimchu3232reminds me of that one scene in the Telltale game with Lee
@@Duddy8822 I never finished that game, I'll have to look it up
If the show was 90% Rick, I would have loved it. But it wasted SO much time on needless side characters and uninspired "drama" that it got boring. I really want to go through and re-edit the show to trim the fat and just focus on Rick
@StewartFletcher, a big part of that was due to characters like Dale and Andrea or even Tyreese either dying too early or arriving too late so they had to invent new characters we we wouldn't get as much time with to take over their roles. By the time we get to what would be the later seasons in the comics it becomes even more Rick focused
Seeing abraham so happy at the end saving glenn just made me ugly cry, MAN I MISS THEM SO MUCH
Gabriel's speech still gives me shivers to this day
That was a good speech.
Which Speech??
The shot of Carl looking down with blood dripping down his face is amazing
Everyone slashing at the horde then Daryl coming in with the rocket launcher was just perfect action. Definitely a deserved episode to be the highest rated.
i think the b plot does make sense for the story, morgan has learned that no one is truly 'too far gone' when eastman is able to help him, but carol is also right in that it's not necessarily worth the risk to help him when there's other people who may be hurt in helping him, when he helps denise that of course doesn't absolve him of everything bad he's done but does prove hes not just evil through and through and has the potential to be better, rick later agrees with this thought process in s9 when he tried to help the saviours integrate with the rest of them
He definitely later has this mindset but right now he didn’t and I don’t think Rick would’ve wanted the risk of having him around.
I think some people were definitely too far gone, but Morgan was right about this particular wolf.
People from the show that I would put in the too far gone category are as followed.
Dave. Tony, the Governor, Terminus group, most of the dead cops from Dawn's group at the hospital, Simon, the savior that killed Henry's brother, and the one that intentionally pissed his pants when Jesus caught him, and of course the claimers, bad guys from the prison group, and most of the whisperers.
Those would be the main ones that got air time that were in the kill or be killed category. Definitely some of the background Saviors, and Wolves, Nebraska group characters as well.
@@shadowwolf9909
Idk man, the wolf was too far gone imo. Just because he saved Denise (and inadvertently saved Carl) doesn't mean much because he never would have done that if he knew he was going to get bit. He probably just wanted to take the doctor with him for selfish reasons... and when he saved her at the end he was really already dead - so that's great and all but if he was alive and well I am certain he would have been a dangerous psychopath... if they did save him there is no way he wouldn't have done some super fucked up shit later.
The B plot with Carol killing the Wolf was important because if he hadn't died, the resources wouldn't have been available to save Carl including Denise.
Agreed - in the video he says that "it's made out like we are supposed to feel bad for the Wolf" but i don't see that at all. From what the show has depicted I think it is pretty clear that Denise has very poor judgement - and Morgan is fanatical about the ideology that saved his life... no one else in Alexandria would have even thought for a second that the Wolf is worth saving - I don't think the writers really expected us to agree with Morgan or Denise here.
Although there is a good chance that Denise only said what she said so that Wolf would bring her to the infirmary where she would be safe - and she probably did intend to honor her promise to save his life (by cutting off his arm) - I really don't think that she believed he was redeemed. At least I hope she isn't THAT naive, but it is Denise we are talking about here so maybe she was that niave.
Seasons 6 and 5 are my favorite seasons of the show, and I’d say this was when the show was not only at its peak, but also did its best at adapting the comic material in ways that was sometimes even better than the comics 🔥
Thing is that’s when the show started to become shit lmao I wouldn’t say that’s when it was at its peak, maybe 3&4

I love The Walking Dead. Always have. Just so sad to see the downfall. Because it always seemed like the type of show that wouldn't go downhill. Definitely one of my favorite episodes of all time.
What downfall? It just dipped once and picked itself back up.
@@handsomeman9433 It had a very long dip that lasted four whole seasons. Season 5 sucked after they took out the cannibals, Season 6 started strong then completely fell apart. Season 7 was bad and Season 8 was some of the worst television I've ever seen.
@@cameroncaws5959 bro what, season 5 did the best regarding ratings. 17 million on average. 6 dropped off but the increase in action made it a favorite for many, including the famous 6x09 No Way Out. Season 7 isn’t liked due to how depressing it was but the writing did fall off as well, but not nearly as badly as 8 which is mutually accepted to be the worst.
@@handsomeman9433 I don't care about ratings, I care about being entertained. My opinion is it's awful. Season 5 put me to sleep, Season 6A was flawed but decent. Season 6B made me want to put my head through a wall in frustration and Season 7 just sucks, being depressing has nothing to do with it. I enjoy depressing stuff, TWD just sucked at it.
@@cameroncaws5959 Season 5 peaked at 5x3 and S6 had great episodes all around aside from a couple.. what about 6B did you not like? I also thought 6A wasn’t just decent but really good because of the payoff of that arc in 6x9
I think this is the most memorable episode for me personally. Especially Rick going on a rampage and everyone else falling in with him.
three very iconic things in this episode for me were ricks grunts right when he walked outside all cut together in a quick montage, gabriel saying “god has given us the courage to save (alexandria) ourselves” and carol saying “ricks making a stand”
Man, this episode also reminds you why it was such a bad idea to kill off Carl. Here you can see just how much of what Rick did is for Carl, to keep him safe, to create a better world for him. That kid was his entire motivation. It also makes Rick's reaction to his death a bit OOC because in this episode Carl was only injured and that was enough to make Rick go berserk, that makes you think he would completely lose it if Carl were to die, but nope, apparently his death gave Rick such a clear mind he decided to forgive Negan. 🙄
So I interpret that scene and that episode differently than you do.
that because Carl didnt get killed by Negan so who would he go berserk on? dont forget Carl asked his dad to forgive Negan to stop the war. you just didnt want to see that.
Because carl died of his own actions also pretty sure rick didn't go berserk when he thought judith died so it isn't OOC
@@DazedRose115 exactly because if Negan killed Carl. he would have went berserk but since Carl died because of his own actions and demanded Rick to find peace with Negan
What is OOC? Out of context?
@@ErinJeanette out of character
Glenn and Maggie scene gave me CHILLS!!!!! I'm not into TV romance at all but if there's an award for NON TOXIC, EMPOWERING COUPLE, it's these two. They reflect real life healthy couple, who struggle to get through life and a toxic environment, without having the toxicity inside the relationship itself.
I got to be in the same room as them at a comic con and it was amazing
And they argue occasionally too like a real couple but they always make up in the end
@@ErinJeanetteomg lucky! that’s so cool
@@jamescarr1265 I was pretty far away but it was still cool to see them in person!!

I think what really killed Sam was when he saw the zombie kid. He was doing so good but seeing a zombie kid really made him think about “becoming monsters” and so he panicked and shut down. Carol’s words really stuck with him. And in the beginning of episode (if i recall correctly) the ants that invade Sam’s room are great foreshadowing to his death. Im surprised @thrifty typewriter didn’t mention the ants in the beginning. They were great symbolism about Sam and Jessie’s family as a whole.
I think what made this episode special for me was the fact that we saw the TRUE strength of all the survivors and initially set the pathway for characters like Eugene and Gabriel to become better. It also truly marks Rick's group fully planting their roots into Alexandria and making sure that nothing will take away their home. The strength in these people is fucking beautiful
this episode made abraham one of my favorite characters for me, if not my favorite. i love how he is truly stoic and doesn't fear death. i also loved it when he managed to crack a joke after saving glenn 🥺 i miss abraham
3:52 Rick went outside because Denise had to turn on the light to care for Carl. The light attracted Walkers to the infirmary. Rick was trying to keep the infirmary safe so that Denise could save Carl.
The best scene in walking dead, I think to date, are the shadowy close up flashes of every characters face as they fight, swing & slash to save Alexandria & each other.
Bro when he's forced to chop off her hand to escape death while it flashes back to the love he felt for her that shit was deep one of the most memorable moments.
I consider this episode the series finale in my rewatches. It’s not that I hate why came after, but I don’t think it was ever as good as the first 6 seasons, and this episodes just wraps everything up so well
100%
Same
I think there was a season 3 call back when Carl got shot in the eye, Rick and michonne took him to Denise. And when Rick is just looking at Carl. Everything he hears starts to echo and fade and then takes his axe to kill the walkers. It felt similar to when Lori died and Judith was born. He had the same reaction.
Great episode analysis. You should definitely do the day will come when you won’t be
I remember how we use to sit as a family every Monday a new episode would come out all the way from around season 4 to 8 good times
Before season 7 and 8, this show was doing so well. It was so good
Completly lost me when they had the cliffhanger death scene at the end of the season. Just was a showing of bad writing and lazy hook attempt.
No Way Out has always been my favourite episode, their is other that are just as great but this was awsome.the quick shots of them killing the walkers and it ends on Rick was awsome.

poor Sam. he was just a scared kid who hadn't been exposed to the horrors of the apocalypse.

@@LuckIsImpossible my condolences man
The wolf leader didn't just change out of nowhere. Don't forget that Morgan told him his whole back story with the cheese maker
3:56 this is truly (for me) the PEAK of TWD, something about Rick just being so angry that he needs to go outside and kill all the walkers is so badass, but then everyone in ricks crew and most of the people of Alexandria join in so it goes from a man’s outlet for rage to a complete take back of their community
I think Sam getting absolutely wrecked is what gives it the edge. I remember being so caught off guard by that entire sequence. Nothing in the show ever shocked me that much again.
Such a good episode . I rlly can’t wait for twd 11c like it’s been on my mind non stop. This episode was so good and it’s making me wanna rewatch the show . I know it won’t be the easiest rewatch but I bet it’ll be worth ut
Imagine if they had that RPG during the Last Day on Earth, and the last roadblock they reach with like 50 or more saviors waiting for them standing altogether and not spaced out. Just imagine one rocket in that one scene
This chapter will always be one of my favorites if not the favorite of all The Walking Dead, the ending touched my heart from the first time I saw it (On air)
Your style with these videos is very cool and you have certain "story teller voice" that I like
Haha thank you!
My local theater had weekly showings of TWD during this era, i’ll never forget that hype.
I feel like they foreshadowed Carls death as early as season 2 really. I remember thinking every season they are gonna kill Carl, and then got super pissed when they did! Lol I also feel like they planned on killing Carol too, but that one never happened
Interesting how those 2 are reversed in the comics. Carol dies early and Carl never does.
@@chrischickering1959 I still haven’t made it that far in the comic, I need to go get the first compendium and finish it, it does seem like I remember her death though, and Judith’s and Lori’s was obviously way different so I guess I did make it that far but I would like to read it again and get the other ones too. Anyway yeah they do that all the time in the show, they’ll substitute one person for another and in some ways it has made some situations more interesting but I still think it was a mistake to kill Carl off and I swear from like season 4 from when she killed Lizzie and Micha (Mika?) on I thought they were building up to her death cuz I remember thinking oh well I guess they decided to re write it, who knows but I’m glad Carol made it, she’s one of the better characters barring season 10 in my humble opinion
Only carol can kill carol
@@chrischickering1959 That’s a good point .
They didn't foreshadow shit, Carl getting shot in s2 is from the comics where he survives, Darabount directed that part of the season.
I have to disagree with Rick forgetting about "The New World" This was a reference to TWD comics volume "A Larger World" and a hint at us entering that chapter, and we can see Rick chasing after the new world by working with the Hilltop. When Rick brutally slaughtered the Saviors, it was to protect the Hilltop, and be in good favor with them for the future of Alexandria. In his mind I'd imagine he thought he was doing the world a favor by taking out people on the same level as the Governor or Terminus. I will say though, after losing Glenn and Abraham, and watching Negan suck the life out of his community, he completely forgot what he said to Carl and saw red, and it took losing Carl for him to realize he needed to stop and set a good example to the communities for the sake of their future.

I watch this episode multipe times just by itself. The part after carl gets shot until the morning after is my absolute favorite part of the walking dead. The scared alexandrians finally finding their guts. Gabe and eugene also finally find their strenght. It's just perfect. In every way
If we had more episodes like this in Season 7 & 8, the show would still be very popular to this day
This episode cemented how far the group has come, that it would never again lose against the dead. After this episode, the walkers never again posed as much threat against their capacity to deal with them. Since then, it was only other humans that posed danger to their survival.
Love these episode analysis’s, making me relive how I felt the first time of watching these episodes. Great work.
Would love it if you did one for season 11 episode 9, no other way. Personally find it one of the best episodes we got in the later series, would love to hear what you thought of the episode.
I’ve been looking for a channel like this… great video!!
I remember the "all life is precious" memes. Lol this era was gold
Watched this episode a few days ago. It’s the feeling of even being backed against the wall you and others put your head together you can do anything. It’s such a deeper message in such a badass scene. People are a resource and people working together is the scariest thing natural forces or an enemy can see. Separation keeps us weak.
I'll never forget this episode because the day after if premiered, I came down with a really bad flu. Also, something, something, Carl's eye. Also, also, the Gravity Falls series finale aired the day after this episode.
My personal favourite of the entire series. TWD was at a really high point, at this episodes has everything that I want from a TWD episode. It's a great climax, with shocking moments, action against human and walkers, crazy rick and having all the cast together fighting.
About the wolve and denise storyline, I find it to be great, one of those moments were I felt that Morgan way of thinking made sense and about Rick's speech at the end, I don't believe that he went against what he said to carl but that the whole all out war was overwhelming and rick just did what he had to but in the end he wanted to build a good world for carl. I still believe carl was not the one who would make rick change, Morgan will always be the one who had that job
Looking back this is the last episode where I actually had a good time with the show. Most of the time in the season I was mentally checking out because many parts of the show felt like it was repeating itself from previous seasons. The many losses incurred during the show was mentally draining and honestly left me depressed after Ricks’ recent love interest died. It was however very inspiring seeing Rick and co. along with the citizens of Alexandria fight off the walkers to defend their homes. It’s been years since I first saw this aired and out of most of this season that I remember this is the one episode that always stuck with me.
I didnt know that this was the highest rated episode but when I first watched it, I was so hyped out of my seat. Especially when rick went along on the hoard to go apeshit and he kinda motivated the rest of the people to help in too, the shots, the music, the action, it was just so perfect.
Personally I think Too Far Gone is my favorite episode of TWD but this episode sure makes it into my top 5, maybe even my top 3 of all time.
this whole episode in its own right was perfect
- Abraham in uniform (he was my favorite character whenever he came around and damn it really developed his story)
- the eventual foreshadowing to negan
- Daryl with the rpg
- what actually happened to Carl and how it eventually shapes Rick
- the merciless rick grimes killing spree. which it still proves that he could be as much of a killer as negan was, but never tapped into that again whenever he saw Glenn and Abraham die
I’m glad you used the end of s11 ep16 music it’s one of the best pieces of music out of the entire show
when glen got stuck between the wall and a lot of walkers i started jumping in my chair. this episode was tooooooo good
This is still a favorite episode of mine. The rallying of the Alexandrians willing to fight for their home always gives me goosebumps. Michonne kissing Carl's forehead before she joins the fight, Gabriel taking Judy was so brave and he was scared shitless, but he did it anyway. Chills!
I actually completely missed this episode when it first aired, and I just wasn't able to watch it until a bit after the following season started... I was so f*cking confused when I saw one-eyed Carl and none of the "problem family"
i love your videos man keep it up
This episode in my opinion really challenges the mental and moral parts of our characters for the community, with the rest of the community joining in, it shows how much the people not only believe in Rick and Co but they believe in the new world they want to build, and ofc it gets Shattered when negan arrives later on.
Love your content sooo much
You make some really good walking dead videos
I love this episode and ending of this episode made me even more mad what they did to Carl and especially his actor :(
this is definitely my favourite episode of all of twd. everyone working together and slowly joining rick as he fights off the walkers as he fears his son might die… it’s so beautiful
The first twd ep i watched was the one before this and after some time of waiting and watching other seasons (previous ones) it was gonna be live on tv and i waited with my dinner and watched it. Once in a lifetime feeling
Heads up, Start to Finish, and No Way Out are the best three consecutive episodes of TWD ever in my opinion. Season 6 is my personal favorite, it was great and watching it live every Sunday night, it was just the best.
*BRO I'm just starting season 7 and I remember getting so hype during this episode and literally saying its the best up to what I've seen. Off the top of my head I believe its episode 9 of season 6. Although due to spoilers I pretty much know how the whole show plays out, but after a lot of spoilers and clips I decided to start watching a few months back.*
Yeah, I still have to put too far gone and no sanctuary ahead of no way out. (In that order). Interestingly the former and the latter were both written by Seth Hoffman, who next to Gimple seemed to write a lot of the bigger episodes in the shows heyday from seasons 4 to 6.
I would love to see a video essay on season 6 episodes 4 "here's not here" the message and overall shift within Morgan would make for a great video talking about it. As well as how this philosophy fairs in their post apocalyptic world.
I love your videos!
A review on What Happened and What’s Going On would be something I would love to see. The flashbacks and cinematography give it chilling feeling and the way Tyreese dies looking back on his past and regrets was just perfectly done. This would also be the perfect episode to review since it has so much attention to detail.
Great video man
I like the episode where alpha puts the heads on spikes. That scene was well done with the flash backs and intense music
Dude in rewatching the show rn and just watched this episode and never realized how incredibly badass the moment the entire group took out all the walkers was. I had like a growling face on the entire scene. I was just saying hell f’n yeah the entire time. Might be the most badass scene in all of tv
well, tbr the episode before this one was laughably hilarious with that nice sweet and calm music and the BOOM

this was the first episode of the walking dead I saw. I was a kid and I wasn't aloud to watch it but one night my mum didn't notice me so I saw it and fell in love haha
This just reminds me how much I loved the first 6 seasons of this show
I think the stuff with Denise and the Wolf dude could have worked had he done something more subtle like just stabbing a walker that got too close to Denise (maybe in the eye to foreshadow what happens to Denise later). Wolfie wouldn't think much of it, but the camera could linger on Denise's reaction so the seed could be planted that change is possible and Morgan may have been right to spare him in S5. Carol would still kill him on sight to give further weight to the "what if" argument, and that could give more significance to it all coming full-circle with Negan later on. I'm sure there's plenty with Negan's story that needs adjusting too (coming from someone who hasn't watched since S7E4), but with what I know happens, they really could have taken the time to embed the "too far gone" idea as a central theme and through line of the story.
It’s still unreal how this year this amazing show is ending . Been watching since 2010 😢
It was powerful and moving when everyone joined rick and it looked amazing done so well
I love the shots where it just shows all of them wailing on the zombies one by one in rapid succession.

Season 6 is gold.

I loved the hype when Rick was outside and everybody was like "This is it everyone our final Stand" and it Felt like for the first time in the entire Series the Surviving Humans " Pushed" against the End of the world and proved that they could Adapt
now i’m gonna rewatch that season that episode was amazing
When the episode starts out with Daryl blowing up some of Negan’s gang with an RPG, you know it’s gonna be epic.
The music when they start to turn the tide against the walkers after Rocket Daryl. *chef's kiss*
2:29 I'm pretty sure the reason is that it started raining so they had to stay in a house or something. It's not shown but that's what I imagined when I watched it. In the scene right before with Denise it started to rain.
Man The Walking Dead has been making a comeback on CZcams. I remember really liking the show awhile back but as I got older and started watching more shows, I started to feel cynical to the show and almost disappointed in the show for not being as good as other shows I’ve watched. Maybe I’m wrong but I just don’t consider TWD to be in the conversation of being one of the greatest shows ever.
Maybe not to you but to others it certainly can be. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time for sure but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s one of the greatest of all time or even in that conversation.
@@thethriftytypewriter I feel like was tainted the show was many of its awful seasons like 2, 7, 8 and maybe 10 considering some of 10c’s terrible episodes
God I miss so many of the characters in this, I'm rewatching and im on season 2 its such a different show compared to the later seasons
I remember seeing this episode live, great times 😂😭
