    It took me ages to figure out, but the reason why the grease pencil objects are black in that viewport is because the "vertex paint opacity" is turned off. To fix, go to "vertex paint" mode, and click the greasepencil button at the top next to the viewport overlays buttons, and you should find the "vertex paint opacity". It's buried in there!

      That's kind of you to say! But I'm also super inspired by all the other artists making incredible grease pencil stuff 😊

    You're brave as heck, Sophie. I'm STILL too petrified to learn Geometry Nodes. But, with this video I think I can muster the courage. Thanks for inspiring. :D

      Thanks, haha! I hope it helps to see my honest journey, complete with my many moments of confusion 😅 Honestly, I've been working on my next project, and it's going so well! I'm already having so much fun with geometry nodes, so I really recommend giving it a shot

    This is sooo cooool! I love your videos, you do stuff with blender I never would have thought of. Plus the concept for the art piece is so cute too. I like that you show when things are difficult in your process too

      Thank you, I'm glad you like it! This piece was more personal than I tend to make my art, so I'm happy it resonated ❤ And I'm glad you appreciate seeing the struggles too :)

    Great video Sophie!
    GeoNodes is the future and perfect mix with grease pencil!
    I just published a tutorial what you can do with it in blender 4.3, it's soooo good ❤

      Thank you! Also I just watched your tutorial, what an exciting time for grease pencil! Makes me very happy I'm learning geometry nodes now, I think I'll be ready for when the update launches 🤩

    Hmmm, regular 3d objects require a set material node to tell the instances what colour to be. Not sure about GP objects tho

    • @SophieJantak
      @SophieJantak  Před měsícem

      Interesting, I didn't know that, I haven't tried using 3D objects as instances yet. So far, it seems like my GP instances are the correct color without additional nodes

    This is interesting, I might actually start learning GN... I will try this & try to make something of my own..
    The BIG problem for me is I cannot wrap my head around node based workflow,
    I can easily understand code based (python etc) workflow cause of my programming background..

    • @SophieJantak
      @SophieJantak  Před měsícem +1

      Best of luck! That's interesting to hear why nodes isn't as intuitive for you, with your background. I wonder if there are instructors who approach geometry nodes from a more code-based mindset, maybe that could help

    did you tried Linux operation system before does Linux OS suitable for Graphic designer?
    I'm a graphic designer and using Linux for above a couple of years it's charm and fast
    I have replaced most graphic tools to Open-source graphic tools like (Gimp replaced to Photoshop) - (Inkscape replaced to Illustrator) - (Krita for drawing) -(blender replaced to Cinema4D).
    I replaced all my graphic tools to this Open-source apps that I have noted above.
    best wishes...

      That's great! I also love open source, I use Blender and Krita, and recently a program called Scribus for when I need to prep files for printing. Though I'll admit I've never looked into Linux and am not sure I ever will, but it's great to hear that it works for you! Thanks for sharing :)
