I see a lot of expert showing how forfeited cards are practically identical but the fail come from the much highest resolution and better colors from modern printers because the original cards come from old printers.

@@EliosMoonElios if you know the old printers/specs, how it was done (I think an engineer would) you could make a printer that could print that way. They only have to know how to reproduce it perfectly, not know exactly how the printer worked. As long as you can make it look the exact same way, it doesn't matter what the method machine is/was used to do it.

This is why I prefer to buy from Rudy. His primary currency is trust. His entire empire is built upon his trustworthiness. He *has to* only say what he believes is the truth, or everything else falls apart. If nobody trusts him, no matter how popular his videos or how fat his Patreon, his raison d'etre is done af, and everything he has worked for is ruined. Why could anybody sell him a collection, or buy *any* of his sealed product or reserved list cards if they couldn't *trust* Rudy? So for this reason alone, you can rest assured that Rudy believes what he says to be the truth. And with his network and connections, he is exposed to *lots* more inside information than we will ever get. So he is an excellent "source of truth" for the scene-behind-the-scenes in the MTG community. And his prices are good. They're not totally inflated, which is what you would expect for someone with so much trust in the foundation of their business. Good guy Rudy.

The only thing suspicious to me about these is that the foil stamp is virtually identical on the two cards we saw up close, down to the Black Mana symbol. The actual foil has alternating mana symbols, such that I used to try to trade copies of rares/promos shortly after it was added to get foil stamps matching the color of the card. But having looked at a LOT of the foil up close because of that brief OCD, I'm suspicious of two of them having such a similar cut. I would have liked to see the Hangarback Walker up close as well to see if it also bears an identical foil stamp.
From what I could tell it looked like the Hangarback had a different cut on the stamp, and the two we did see is probably just a coincidence. This is, of course, assuming that someone actually was able to fake the foil in the first place, even if it was JUST the Black Mana symbol and surrounding areas that they duplicated.

I don't know if that is normal or not? for example the Hangerback's stamp is to the upper right, and the other card at 6:04 is to the upper left? and the first card prior to these two are almost perfectly spaced and set dead center? The sharpie is from the post office. Look closely at the hand written zip code, whoever wrote it messed up the shape of the last number. If the auto sorter read that wrong and printed the wrong bar code across the bottom:
The post office will send it through manual hand sorting, a post office employee will black out the wrong bar code, hand write the zip code in big clear numbers and put it back out for delivery. I've had hand written corrections from the post office that look similar to this
I've also paid for hand sorting (it costs extra) so that cards I ship didn't get bent in the machines (you write "do not machine ~ hand sort" and bring it in to the counter, they charge you extra. If your hand written address is not clear, they will write it in with black sharpie

I see a lot of people posting you cant copy the hologram. But why not just take cheap real magic cards, somehow take them off and place them onto the fakes? Then you dont even have to bother trying to replicate it

      @Vincent_Beers Před 6 lety +3

you don't even have to take off the foil. there's a couple of ways to wipe the ink off the front of the card which produces a real card stock, a real hologram and simply a blank face to print over
the hardest part then is lining up to print over the blank without damaging the hologram

The only MtG card I have available to me at the moment with that little holofoil on it has a blue water drop in it. Card is Dark Imitations. no idea if other holofoil bits are the same or if that symbole changes based on set?

I'm looking at my C16 Saskia, and I don't see a skull in the hologram foil at the bottom. Does anyone else see the skull on their C16 cards?

Those are real for me... noone can duplicate the hologram.and even if they can, it's better to clone the euro's holo instead of some cheap unexpensive Magic cards

If you copy euros your jail time last 0 and you are asked to work for the bank of Europe as security detector. If you counterfactual mtg cards you can make the printer go brrrrr

Send one in to get graded and see what happens. Also look at it with loop and a bright ass led light like a phone flash. See if you can notice any signs of artwork underneath what is there as they likely used a real card to make it

Those have got to be real cards.
I find it highly unlikely that the progression of fake cards would go from patently obvious (even concerning the higher end ones) to completely indistinguishable.
If someone had the talent/skills/equipment to flawlessly recreate the look, feel, rosette, etc. why would you counterfeit new cards (which include the hologram, another major hurdle) rather than old power nine or reserved list?
Hell one Beta Mox, even if you artificially aged it to a light played condition, would net more profit than hundreds of newer counterfeits.

From what I can see, the holofoil printing is the same for all 3 card and they all have the same symbol in the same spot. Most of the real cards holofoil printing will be different and have other symbols in it.

I know its late as f but the black mana skull in holo is what gives them away. Its always spot on central in those cards. While in real thing holos looks as cut at random from a sheet - sometimes there is red mana in center, sometimes white, sometimes nothing is in center.
