I made this channel to inspired dads to skate again and I can still enjoy talking about parts of skateboarding even when i cant skate due to new priorities in my life. I Still love to skate. I feel Nyjah and the Boss Andrew Reynolds are my favorite skaters of all time but I love so many others! Mark Suciu, Shane Oneil, Antwain Dixon, TK, and the amazing Anthony Perkins LOL. I'm so scared of becoming a popsicle doing these lol. The tip that always helped me with these is placing my popping foot in the pocket, similar to how you would pop a treflip - sometimes it will feel like you're trying to pressure flip it or something, but for me it works 🤷‍♂

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Hmmmm. Someone said pretty much the same thing in the comments about putting it in the pocket. It's gonna take awhile to get used to that honestly!! Dude that's why I never did them cause I was always so close to popsicle myself lmao. I thought I was the only one. It's crazy how the pop is completely different from nollie flips

    • @CurtinChad
      @CurtinChad Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@tonyperksexperience1988 Yeah nollie flips are easy in comparison lol. But that flicking out sideways more than forward tip is a great cause the flick is what controls this trick.

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yea that method really works as long as you pop it correctly! I gotta get these better.

    my secret hack is press ur right foot on the toe side of the board so when u pop the board is tilted due to pressure and almosty wants to catch ur heel so u can flick. Idk if my explanation is coming across visually but heed my words, i got nollie heels in a like an hour of hearing that from a homie at my skatepark. makes it so much easier to pop higher, flick is smooth and consistent. you already got nollie heels in the bag but its like skateboardings quality of life thing. make it easier wherevere u can yanno. Joes advice was dope! no doubt, im just throwin my two sense in the ring.

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Bro!!!! I needed this! Yea man I im gonna try to pop on my nose cause I see what your saying. Once you pop it should start to turn the board towards a nollie heel because I'm popping on the toe side pocket. Man im taking all the advice I can get I'm taking because it's one of those tricks that just escapes me. I'd rather do a switch bs flip than nollie heel cause nollie heels are way harder lmao

    Personally , i enjoy the "learning a new trick " videos the most , theres not too many of them from intermediate skaters.
    Its either tutorials from people who have perfected the trick so there is no suspense , or its some crazy berrics dream trick thing that no one can relate to anyway.

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +2

      its crazy cause I watched a guy Learn treflips and it got me so inspired to try nollie heels because I am TERRIBLE at them lol. I agree on your point of view with the tutorials or dream tricks. I could never do any of their dream tricks in my wildest dreams so I definitely cannot relate lol. I'm glad you are liking this format. should I do more of them?

    Bro, is incridible how I identify myself with you...I also sucks with nollie heel all my skate life...I skate since I had 12, now I have 35 and only these days I learned how to do that! Was always frustrating to watch how people that know this trick do it so easily! I still have to focus a lot and can't do it easily, but need to look back to the tail, and kick it like Im doing a switch heelflip, if you know What i mean...

      That's the park and it definitely (proportional speaking) is very weird and awkward. The new parks are wayyyy better. When did you leave the AV? You should come check out the new parks if you get some time. Well worth it!!!

  • @MJ87808
    @MJ87808 Před 8 měsíci +1

    @grandlegion1613 is correct. it also helps to ensure that your front leg is sucked up after you pop to prevent the straight leg falling forward situation (don’t be lazy with it) lol. i still make this mistake and nollie heel is my fav flip trick.

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It's weird because I know how to nollie when doing nollie kickflips but nollie heels seems like a completely alien trick lmao. Yea I never think to.suck up my front let. The crazy thing is I did it down a 9 stair one time in my life lol. But yea il definitely do some tweaking and do a part two.with these comments and.see if they can help me improve them

    When I learned these, I treated more like a nollie first then mid lift to kick back and out to level it out. Same thing though less out and more back towards the pocket. If you watch folks who send these to the moon there's a lot of lift before they kick to get it level. Nice work!

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Yea after watching it I think my pop was off. I totally agree with you. I've been wanting this trick for years but it's just one of those tricks I just continue to struggle with. For some reason I cam form nollie back heels much easier than doing a straight nollie heel for some reason

  • @erics2091

    Sometimes burning yourself out on one trick can hurt more than it helps. Next time try taking a break doing something you know or just cruise for a few minutes. Clear your head. Learning new tricks is always hard. Wish you good luck to the point where you can do 10 back to back.
    It’s hard being a dad in your 30’s trying to skate. We don’t have all this free time these kids do. But don’t force it. Don’t know if you did, but take a second and rewatch your footage. Compare it to someone who lands it. You might notice something.
    Of course, just my thoughts. Do what’s best for you.

      Man I started to do that for awhile with my left foot. It just takes muscle memory. If you watch my trick tip on switch flips... there is a hack that allows you to develop muscle memory for flicking tricks.when your skating or not skating. It's hard to explain on text tho lol. I'm sure you can get that right leg working lol

      I had this same question and started questioning whether I was too heavy to be skating anymore. I am 36 years old, 6'2', and 210 lbs right now. As I got older, I started to have foot problems from skating. I think primarily due to having trouble finding a wide-fitting skate shoe. For the last few years, I have been really inconsistent with spending time on the board. I will get out there for a few days, then spend several months without skating due to the busyness of life. You are inspiring me to get out there more. Great video!

    • @tonyperksexperience1988
      @tonyperksexperience1988  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yea man being a bigger and skating has its own host of problems but your definitely not to big. 210 is a good weight for your height. But I do understand the foot problem and that can definitely prevent your joy from skating plus being busy with adult life lol. For me, the more consistent I am skateboarding, the less sore I get and my body tends to feel better. Try it out bro
