    I would love for a model manufacturer to make a DVD of how a car model is made. From concept including box art,instructions to finished dies, to watching the process of injecting hot styrene, cooling process,pulling the product out of the dies, packaging and distribution. That would be something I would be really interested in.
    Anyone else ? Damn I wish Johan was still around. The technology we have today, those dyes could be replicated and modified .On another note, Its really a bummer that American model companies can't make their kits on the same level of quality as Tamiya kits .

Now that you are into researching these kits, take a look at the Revell gasser kits, i.e. 50 Austin,51 HenryJ,Thames panel,etc. Just posing a small challenge for you. Have fun with your research. Have a great Sunday

    Add me to the list of "did not know this." Like you, I have not built a kit in a long time so how am I to know? You keep the content you want to cover coming! Love when you open a kit too as, I look to see what parts I would need to build it the way I would want it (the pickup would get a blown Boss 429) and then determine if I want to buy the kit based on what parts I have.

    Firstly, I applaud Your efforts with the video content, Thank You! What Your doing is "Kit History." Which should be of interest to anyone in this hobby. I for one watch all that I can about "Our" hobby as I find, well, most of them, (and I am speaking of "all" the videos that are put out), of great interest. MPC used that Vette Gasser as the kit the "Malco Vette" gasser w-a-y back, one of the first kits I build along with the Spirit of '57. I believe what they did was "cost effective" in producing kits, for all of Us to enjoy building a variety. You keep sharing videos and like You say, if one doesn't care for the content, don't watch. I think they are missing out on the hobby. Again, Thank You!

    Interestingly, neither a real 53 Ford F100 chassis, nor a real 57 Chevy chassis, really looks anything like the chassis in the kits. None of them are narrowed in at the front half, like the chassis in the kits are. Both have parallell frame rails all the way.

    Had model building buddy when I kinda first got into doing model cars back in 1984 who had both the then MPC '57 chevy & '53 ford flip nose kits,I remember thinking that too at the time too how similar those 2 kits were apart from obvious body,bumpers,intake(Bug catcher),I think from memory the wheels might have been the same,not sure now?.later on in around the mid 90's I remember another buddy buying the early 90's release of the AMT '53 Ford flip nose,come to think of it now most of that kit was almost identical parts wise as the 80's MPC ford,chassis rail,seats,engine with more modern looking intake though,remember my other buddy clipping off part of front leaf springs with nail clippers,to drop the nose of the '57 chevy to give it the more lowered look as we never really adopted the 'Gasser' look here in Australia,still use nail clippers with my model building btw,have done so for as long as I can remember?,lol

    @charleskottman6609 Před 2 lety +1

    In some of my building, I have found that a lot of chassis will interchange with other makes and models. Example. Most GM A bodied will use the same chassis. 58-64 Chevy Impalas have basically the same chassis and suspension. I have even taken bodies from Revell and put them on AMT chassis. There are usually only slight modifications. The big ones are the pro street kits. The AMT 67 Chevelle SS is a popular kit to bash. I put a Revell 66 ElCamino body on the 67 Chevelle pro street chassis. Cutting and modifying are sometimes necessary, but not always. I suppose it’s only natural that would be the case. Saves on having 1000 different molds. Also found that the late 60-early 70 Mopars are like that too on occasion. Pro street GTX chassis will accept a Charger Cuda, or Challenger body. It is indeed interesting to find things like this. Don’t let “know it alls” deter you from making videos you want. People who want to watch Willard haters are always gonna hate. Press on. You’re doing a fine job...

For the next couple years when we'd be over there for holidays (my grandparents on dad's side lives next door to our burnt house) my dad and I had fun going in there with flashlights to pick through the kits, found a few that were mostly build-able and LOTS of stuff for mine and his parts boxes, felt like a treasure hunt 🤣

      @@modelcarswithglen. Don't want to cause an argument with this comment, just want to straighten out misinformation. If you are thinking of the MPC Datsun Lil' Hustler flip nose gasser, then The Raging Dolphins Maniac is right, that kit doesn't use the same frame/chassis as the kits in this video.

    Well, count me in as another modeler who did not know this. Who would have ever guessed they would use basically the same kit for a CHEVY CAR and a FORD TRUCK!! It looks like the frame is not actually correct for either. I've owned numerous 55-57 Chevies and 2 53-56 Ford trucks so I pretty much know what the stock frame looks like. But really good to know about this.

  • @alanwickwire7491

    I knew it but I still enjoy watching it. But a little history on that chassis, motor wheels and tires MPC first had a Datsun or Toyota pickup body on it they called it Lil Hustler then they came out with 57 chevy then MPC put the 53 Ford pickup body on that chassis but, the first 53 pickup was black on the box with flame on it and and they did use the same front axle that they used on 57. They didn't use drop axel until they rereleased it again I think in 79 or 80 and it was called Flip Out, not only did the front end flip up the bed did too. They rereleased that truck so many and they did changed it up a little each time, but any how I do enjoy the comparison videos there ain't to many people that do it, and some of us old modelers could use a little refreshing on some these model again. Keep the good work.

  • @theragingdolphinsmaniac4696

    Im working on an early version of the 53 Ford now. I don't normally complain about fit issues because I expect them and fix them as I go. I don't know who mastered the truck, but they must have been stone drunk when they mastered it. It's a train wreck of problems.Nothing keys or positively locks into place. I started it as a co--vid remedy quick, out of box build, and I literally had to reengineer the entire things to make things fit.

      @@garyparker2969 I have built both kits and the 57 Chevy doesn't have the issues the Ford has. I did learn a lot though. That's why I don't complain about problems. I almost always learn something by figuring out how to overcome a problem. That said, even with all the reengineering I had to do, I am happy with the way it's turning out...
