We here in Argentina give him the credit. Only people not really into football complain about him. His only problem is that he had a lot of injuries, so he had an uneven career.

What a player... my God. He made the french defense in the World Cup final look like some school kids. He is the closest thing I've seen to Zidane in terms of grace and dribbling. If he could have played the full 90 minutes, France would have never equalized. The second he came out, Argentina forgot how to play.
They would have won the 2014 final as well had he played vs Germany.

It´s not as you said. France has a physically very imposing team (probably given the ancestry of most of his players, this is expected). DiMaría is not young anymore and can´t stand 90mins at that level of effort (nor does Messi, nor Otamendi, no anybody around 35). The rest of the players are also less strong than the French. Skill-wise, Argentina was by far a better team, but France has a very physical team, and after a whole cup, being tired is a problem. So Argentina dominated the match easily till they run out of energy. It was the same against the Dutch. We play better football, but they have stronger players.

he is 35, had a complicated career due to recurrent injury and is not precisely imposing physically (his nickname is "noodle" for some reason). How can he play 90mins against a team of guys so strong as the French. Argentina was at disadvantage physically during the match. But thankfully our players are just more skilled than the French.

I was 5 years old. I remember me and my brothers woke up at 5-6 am to watch the olympic final (Argentina - Nigeria, I am argentinian). From that day, I became a Di Maria fan. For me, Di Maria is the decisive one, at least in the national team. If born in a different time, he would have been the player of the generation. However, we are very lucky to have this two beasts (Messi and Di Maria) sharing the stage.

Di Maria really is a wonderful footballer and his legacy will remain for both club and country. I would only have one criticism for his national team and that would be that at times he has been selfish when he could have passed. I remember thinking this in many games. That being said, I am being bias as I am a Messi fan and there are lots of times I would he would have passed to Messi as he was in an excellent position. Anyway, fantastic video as always!
