    I love the Land Tax/Winds of Change idea. I think that could turn out very well.... Great pink weenie deck. Looking forward to more videos... thanks!

    I like that you are building old-school decks. It shows a bit of history. I ran a variation this in a local tournament . I had made it control agro... Using power surge and antiquites.. 2:2 factory land until end of turn. Power surge shut down blue. Savannah lion and thunder spirit as my first strikers that fly. It was great against those that played power cards...at the time. Of course this was in 94-95 when I played it. It was so fun. Oh ...golbin balloon too with fire breathing. As a side board I had circle of pro. Emerald mox with beserk and 4 ball lightning for more fun. Your deck list was very similar to mine as far as chaos orb which I only had one.

    Dang Edwin. I am trying to make it to this but in the beginning of the work week makes it hard. Aaron is a great guy and "The Horde" are a great group of people. Sorry for the loss that is bringing you to the PNW but hope you can get your mind off of things while enjoying some old school.

    This is nearly exactly my first oldschool deck. I love it. Plays great against all kinds of things. I'm still chasing those duals though... got to get rid of those proxys at some point

      The prices seem to be softening on Revised duals... might be time to strike pretty soon.

    Great to hear your analysis of Shahrazad with the lack of tricks to get cards in opponent's hand/graveyard, however, could Wheel of Fortune work in this deck (although I noticed its recent price increase)? All the best.

    Great video :) Thanks :)
    One thing though:
    Preacher doesn't trade one of your creatures for his... It just steals one of his creatures (he chooses) :)

    Hi Edwin,
    Massive fan love your deck techs and thoughts.
    I always was wondering if you had done a land tax and lands edge deck or play tested with that?

    Good Morning Edwin! I hope you and the family had a good Halloween, Did you guys all dress up? Curious to what everyone was if you did. Anyways thanks for the shoutout! I watched the whole video I love how good disenchant is in the old-school formats vs standard / modern etc. Also me and my brother have always loved the FBB JPN/KOR swag even way back in the day. I remember when they use to be really valuable and sought after (They still are, just not like back in the mid 90's). Was going to shoot a halloween special with my full latex zombie makeup, but it started ripping before I could get the video done :( Curious to how hard you think it would be to upload 1 video every day for a month?

    As always, Edwin: Great Video, exuding your usual joyful love for this great game! Thank you for sharing your passion with the growing Old School Community! Perhaps in a future video you can share your thoughts on the current state of the growing *inclusiveness* of Old School, due to growing acceptance of Eternal Central Rules, especially with a focus on the *Legality* of Collectors' Edition Cards in their *UN*sanctioned events. A major point of discussion can (or should) include talk about how things went at (this upcoming) Eternal Weekend, which is now **ALLOWING** with WotC's approval (!!!!) the use of Collectors' Edition (and International Collectors' Edition) cards in their Old School Side Events. Thoughts? Reactions? Encouragement to continue the spirit of Old School Inclusivity, etc, Either way, your thoughts are always welcomed by your viewers (that's why we subscribe). KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! :)

    Great to see your doing a Deck Tech again! Interesting build with some unconventional choices such as the Army of Allah and the three moons. Interesting to see how this deck differs from the Swedish brews that I usually play against. Why did you decide to play with 3 chains and not 4?

    • @87plank

      Why don't you do it ?!?!

  • @yamchadragonball6983
    @yamchadragonball6983 Před 3 lety

    I would probably go with something like this instead:
    Mana
    10 plains
    1 strip mine (R in local rules)
    1 mountain
    4 plateau
    4 mishra's factory
    (Mandatory, too good not to include)
    4 land tax
    Creatures
    4 lions
    4 javelineers
    4 knight
    4 order
    Another option is ironclaw orcs since they are easier to cast with factories and strips.
    Spells
    4 bolt
    4 chain
    4 plow
    4 disenchant
    (Cut one for chaos orb if you feel like it)
    2 jalum tome
    (One could argue for sol ring due to this card)
    2 armageddon
    (I'd cut them if going for pump!)
    You could reasonably fit in 4 crusades, army of allah, jihad or some other creature pump.

    Edwin, I like your deck idea. As Old School decks are very creature-heavy, I would play the Preachers main and take the Pikemen out. The Preachers are the best cards in Pink Weenie.

    • @EdwintheMagicEngineer
      @EdwintheMagicEngineer  Před 5 lety

      I suppose to some degree it depends on Meta. Seems like I end up playing against more control decks or other decks with small creatures.

    Hello Edwin.. Greetings from Denmark. I've been following your channel for quite some time and really enjoyed your videos. So please continue the good work :) In relation to your deck tech I have some questions about some of your choices since i'm in the brewing proces of making a Pink Weenie list myself.
    Have you considered Thunder Spirits or did you leave them out purposely because of the price tag? Also i'm curios to hear why you have choosen to leave out the Crusades with that high a creature count and Land Tax as well when you mainly run basics? Thanks :)

    • @sdidonato6178
      @sdidonato6178 Před 5 lety

      Yea, I was curious about Crusades over Army of Allah as well.

    • @EdwintheMagicEngineer
      @EdwintheMagicEngineer  Před 5 lety +1

      Thunder Spirits, yeah mostly price tag related. I already pushed the price up due to duals and orb, the Thunder Spirits are VERY limited use cards and if a person had so few expensive cards that they need to drop hundreds of dollars... it's MUCH better to spend those hundreds on Duals and an Orb.
      Army of Allah hits harder at that moment, which is extra-good with First Strike, has the surprise factor (meaning you catch blockers off guard), cannot get disenchanted in the middle of the attack, and makes your opponents fear cards in your hand (letting you bluff more). Consider that I really don't have many artifacts/enchantments in this deck so the opponent PROBABLY has a Disenchant sitting there in their hand waiting... This way, it remains a mostly dead card.
      About the Land Tax.. that really is a good debate, especially with Geddon. However, much of the time I don't seem to be struggling to find mana and I want to keep that pressure on and draw a creature over Land Tax. It's a good debate though.

  • @implode3
    @implode3 Před 5 lety

    Sigh, no Army of Alah or Chaos Orb...just a bit short. Do I want LoA, in a deck that dumps hand? Seems left out for good reason. Though you suggested reason was price.

    Buddy you are misusing the term "mid-range". " Your decklist is WWr, a Mid-price list.
    A solid replacement for the chaos orb is the third disenchant.

    • @EdwintheMagicEngineer
      @EdwintheMagicEngineer  Před 5 lety

      2nd comment I have seen about the name.. I like your suggestion... ok I'll change it to Mid-Price.

    @eolfeci Před 5 lety

    Haha, midrange already means something in MtG lingo, and it does NOT refer to the price of the deck. You might want to change the title of your series because it is a little misleading. Just letting you know, it's also not a huge deal ;)

    • @EdwintheMagicEngineer
      @EdwintheMagicEngineer  Před 5 lety

      that's true... I'm not sure what else to use...
      Mid-level expense?
      Less than most expensive?
      More expensive then budget?
      Middle Expense?
      Median Priced?
      Medium Priced?
