Reverend Ed, you are so right on in your philosophy. There is so much negativity circling our globe right now. All those negative feelings can sink us quickly into depression. I'm "76," and I've been in pain 24/7 for over 20 years now. My struggle to stay out of negativity is a daily challenge. And so, I'm constantly focusing on what I'm grateful for. And it comes down to the simple things of life and what I'm able to control. I can control my thoughts. I can't control other people or how they think. I can be kind and loving to everyone. I can choose to be part of the healing of our beloved planet. I am truly blessed. My wish for everyone else is peace of mind, body and spirit.

Here here. The older I get the more I am careful about what I watch and I feel the effects it has. So I try to stick to things that make me feel happy. Remember when you lay down with dogs you get fleas. True story
I do my best (don't always manage) to stick to funny animal videos. I decided my psyche can do without the stress. 😸💖

That's ultimately why I left Facebook back in 2020 and other socials in the following years, it turned into a cesspool of continuous and cultivated outrage to keep people engaged. Now I mostly just follow people who share good news and spread positive, wholesome vibes, people like Sam Bentley, Tank Tolman, Opal In Sky, and of course this very wise pastor named Ed Trevors :)

Ain’t it the truth! There’s some story that each of has two wolves inside of us, a vicious one and a gentle one, and which one dominates depends on which one we feed….or something like that. So feed kindness, optimism, generosity and peace instead of cruelty, hopelessness, selfishness, and rage. I still like to watch Die Hard, so I’m still a work in progress.

Many things are invidious, insidious and somewhat seductive. This is often under estimated in how evil spreads.

I read a few of the comments just now, and it seems a lot of us are on the same page. I have unsubscribed to nearly all political sites as I noticed they were doing me real harm, whether it was being downcast when the wrong guy was in the ascendant or triumphant when the wind was blowing in the right direction.

John Prine inspired me my whole life, since circa 1975. I miss him, but I'm grateful for the many great songs he wrote that I love to sing when I start taking things too seriously... "it's a half an inch of water but you think you're gonna drown" reminds me that things aren't so bad.
A more recent artist I love is Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. There's a line from a song on their new album I've adopted as a motto too:

Yes! I made a decision after the latest Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity to limit what I intake. For our mental and physical health, we absolutely must make smart choices. Discern. Limit. The algorithms construct deep holes. We don’t need it. Choose light.
There's a show called "Harlots" on Hulu.
Since others are sharing their "feel good" interests, I'll give a blatant plug: the acapella group, Home Free.
Unmatched harmonies and a beatboxer who I swear was a drum kit in a past life. Sweet, humble guys.
They lean about half country, half pop/rap/R&B/sea shanties/opera/ gospel/patriotic/ doo wop/viral Korean pop, you name it. Funny as all get out And not just covers, but many original songs as well.
They just dropped a video cover of "Your Man" last week. Check 'em out!

Yeah, I don't watch real life horror any more via the news/ social media.
I've seen maybe three real bad snippets from Gaza.
I didn't want to become desensitised to horror.
I hear others talk about it/ read about it and the horror is still apparent. Still felt.
I’ve always thought a healthy balance of anything you consume, in any form that doesn’t help you achieve your goal, just turns into belly fat that sits around until you convenes your self you cannot walk because you can no longer see your feet. Haha
So be careful what you consume, and don’t forget to put that consumption to practice too. Are my thoughts… because I got fat in hate, sat and consumed more, instead of getting up to do something about it. Forgot I had feet because I couldn’t see them. Not to mention the AMOUNT of hate I consumed meant, I had to lose an awful lot… it’s been a journey for me. Regardless, your part of my Hate Watch program and I appreciate you ❤

Another reason not to click on tempting content devoid of real value is that its that ckick that sets the algorithim that ends up feeding conspiracy/hateful/misleading content. The media companies calculate what gets the most views and therefore makes the most money for them and just replicates it until that is all we see. If we want our world to be more reasonable, thoughtful, informed, and caring then we all have a duty to make sure to give only that content our time and to thereby defund the divisive content

You can always click those silly click bait titles and seek to the clips. I always read those titles as "bad thing was said or done by opposing party", ignoring the creator largely.
