@@Kaledrums Your advice is much appreciated, and I will, indeed, follow it. Though I am kind of well prepared for all the app settings by having previously watched a few other videos, including JBL's own (lengthy and informative) presentation of the entire product in an interview by the chief product engineer with Aaron Short (who has an excellent YT channel). I have an RCF M18 digital mixer, so making such settings (compression, EQ, effects, feedback control, etc.) is not new to me. I expressly opted for the PRX One due to its user-tweakable settings and great (Lexicon) reverb, not to mention ample number of inputs for my various guitars, mandolin, bass, stompbox rhythm pedal, BeatBuddy, etc. The effects make it possible to gig in a very lean-and-mean way, without the need for my wonderful-but-huge pedalboard. OK, my boutique efffects no doubt sound a bit better, but the JBL's will be quite sufficient, I am sure. Many column systems have no or crippled effects, or lack compression, or suffer from "preset-only" limitations that castrate one's ability to tweak as needed. If this thing sounds authentic enough (after EQing, of course, in order to alleviate the "mids hole" of such systems), it'll serve me as an all-in-one solution for my solo gigs, as well as for my duo.
Your opinion, please, on how you think it would sound in smaller outdoor venue with hat surface walls to bounce off 25 feet away in front and on left ? Also, do you know have an idea for the BEST company ( cheapest and can get best coverage like you were talking about at the end of your video) from which to buy this? last, have you found anything comparable yet better since this video was made two years ago? I am a professional singer and often use backtracks and a microphone and sometimes a guitarist will plug-in as well

I like the capabilities, it offers and thinking about replacing a pair of 12 inch active speakers (Yamaha DBR12's), with outtboard mixer for my backline PA for my keyboards (organ, piano etc), electric guitar and windsynth(sax). It would be less gear to set up etc so very attractive but would it cut through rock drums , electric guitar and bass with their own amps in a small pub/club venue ? On paper it has the SPL but is it loud ? Difficult question but does it have the guts ?

Mine arrived yesterday. Once I got it assembled and running, the first issue I encountered was related to listening position - standing vs seated. When standing, the top of the column is at the average persons head height. The audio was full range - rich lows through nice, airy, highs. As soon as I sat down, boom! - highs GONE instantly - leaving only lows through high mids. This is probably due to the unit’s relatively narrow, vertical, look angle (30 deg). My test space is small and I could only get 10 ft away from the unit. At that distance some of the highs started to return. Perhaps further out the sound spectrum would expand more. That said, my impression is that this unit is not suited for intimate, sit-down venues. Better suited for events where folks will be up on their feet. Volume wise - It scared my wife and my cats. Nice system, I prefer my Bose for several reasons. The ease of just getting great sound without tweaks Bose is fantastic. Plug and play. I usually don’t have time to sit and tweak the sound. Nice features that the Jbl offers were you can make adjustments to get better sound. Also prefer the reach and smoother coverage of the Bose. But all in all this is not a bad system. More of a learning curve with this unit but it’s not horrible.
That’s not particularly accurate and depends on which Bose L1 you’re using. The JBL system is equivalent to the Bose L1 Pro32 and is considerably cheaper than the Bose 32. Also as for plug and play that depends on if your personal gear is matched in the Bose tone matching. The Bose 32 has no upper mid and lower mids with no way of fixing it. The. One is brutal the stand near. The Bose is heavier with 3 components compared to the 2 part of the JBL. The Bose only has 3 channels and the JBL has 7 channels
Go mix out from one to the first channel in to the other. Otherwise if you have a mixer, you can go left in to channel one and right in to channel one of the second PRX
you will need to purchase an XLR cable for the length you want toe speakers to be about. which ever speaker you are bluetooth connecting too, you will use the pass thru out put on the back, and then connect the other end of the cable to the channel one input of your second speaker.
technically you could use both mixers at the same time. Honestly, and if I am understanding you correctly, you would be better off using a standalone mixer with a couple of aux outs or monitor outs. EQs are usually saved even when the unit is turned off. Of course you can adjust and reset them at anytime.

What are your thoughts regarding pairing this unit with a home karaoke system (Magic Sing for example) located in a living room or family room? Would it be too much? Would I be better off with a pair of bookshelf speakers and a sub woofer?
It's a different beast. It has the mixer and effect I like, like the EV30 , and the the size of speakers from the Evolve 50 I like. The 50 in my opinion hits harder but isn't as clear on top. You have to fiddle with it. Now, if you're asking which one I like more? It's the Evolve 50.
I know a lot of people that like the Bose. The JBL has more power and with good EQ it's crystal clear. Check your local dealer and see if you can demo the two. Also, if you don't need a seven channel mixer, the Bose may be a better option.
@@nyoandricky The Bose is a 1250 watt max SPL of 118 system. ThE JBL is a 2000 watt max 130 SPL system. The Bose offers a thousand to the sub and 250 to the tops as where the JBL has 1000 to the sub as well and 4 times the wattage going to the top than the Bose at 1000.

@@nyoandricky I work for one of the biggest music supply companies in the US. As a result every day I get to A and B both units side by side for various uses. The Bose may be crisper. However with proper EQing and the value of the JBL , is what usually wins my clients over. The RMS is even a more moot point, and here is why. Should the Bose run at 1250 continuous. we can correctly guess that the JBL is running similar to maybe slightly less, let's say 1000.RMS. The MAX SPL is still higher on the JBL and you don't have to spend four to six hundred dollars to expand the input capability of your unit. I will agree the Bose unit is awesome, but as of now more people are buying the offerings and value from EV or JBL
@@djfronkiejay Honestly it's left an right. The PRX has more power. It's my opinion the sound is better out of the EV, and the ease of use is desirable. Unless you need 2000 watts power or 1000RMS the jbl would be ok.
The Ev50m has an actual AUX1 out. I don’t think this one does. This is advertised as 2000w and the ev 50m Is 1000watts. Do you know if that output is at the same frequency? But it’s also 400$ less than the ev.
The JBL seems like it operates at a higher conitnuous watt, and I will admit that the sound is cleaner then the EV30 or 50 out the gate. However, with some proper eq I have heard the EVs sound as good or better. The numbers escape me, but both manufacturers site will tell you what frequency these will run at.

Would be good to here the effects with the vocals
No one on CZcams demo this
Just bought it today, but I need another one, any instructions as to how to link two?
Go mix out from one to the first channel in to the other. Otherwise if you have a mixer, you can go left in to channel one and right in to channel one of the second PRX
@@Kaledrums I'm a beginner sorry,, but we got them for a large adult day care and we want one on each end,,
you will need to purchase an XLR cable for the length you want toe speakers to be about. which ever speaker you are bluetooth connecting too, you will use the pass thru out put on the back, and then connect the other end of the cable to the channel one input of your second speaker.
@@Kaledrums awesome thanx, I'll buy the cable and speaker tomorrow...
if i buy 2 PRX one can i use both mixers for channels? can i use a monitor? can i save eq settings?
technically you could use both mixers at the same time. Honestly, and if I am understanding you correctly, you would be better off using a standalone mixer with a couple of aux outs or monitor outs. EQs are usually saved even when the unit is turned off. Of course you can adjust and reset them at anytime.
thank you that was a big help
@@Kaledrums thank you i understand now.
can i get a bass drum kick sound with that thump in the chest with the eq.
@@roncormier1038 you might be able too. It's a 12in sub, so it may be more punchy than boomy. Give it a try and see if tickles you the right way.
Correction - those two USB sockets are for powering phones ipads etc not for wireless mic inputs as you stated.
From the JBL website "2 USB 2.0 ports charge devices and power AKG wireless systems (with optional JBL adapter cable)jblpro.com/products/prx-one. I may not have clarified it as I should have.
How doze it sound to 2 Bose l1 compacy
Honestly The Bose would sound great, but I feel with Bose you’re paying more for a name rather than anything special over the PRX
Can you play music from phone on this
Multiple ways, but the easiest is Bluetooth
Nice speaker, but not a line array system, this is a column array. Gonna have to hear one of these sometime.
What are your thoughts regarding pairing this unit with a home karaoke system (Magic Sing for example) located in a living room or family room? Would it be too much? Would I be better off with a pair of bookshelf speakers and a sub woofer?
This would be fine. Granted this unit is design for live performance. However, thats what volume controls are for. Go make it happen.
This bloottooht ok or not?
It is Bluetooth
What's ur take on this going against the electro voice Evo 50?
It's a different beast. It has the mixer and effect I like, like the EV30 , and the the size of speakers from the Evolve 50 I like. The 50 in my opinion hits harder but isn't as clear on top. You have to fiddle with it. Now, if you're asking which one I like more? It's the Evolve 50.
I have learned that EV has a 6-7 channel mixer Evolve 50. For 1999.99 it may be worth it
I'm debating between buying the Bose L16 or waiting for this. Love the sound of the Bose and not sure the JBL will sound as good. Any thoughts?
I know a lot of people that like the Bose. The JBL has more power and with good EQ it's crystal clear. Check your local dealer and see if you can demo the two. Also, if you don't need a seven channel mixer, the Bose may be a better option.
@@Kaledrums fyi the Bose pro16 is way stronger than the jbl its not even in the same class
@@Kaledrums listen to it in person than write back specs on paper is nothing. I did not like bose until this new line they came out with check them out and the bose wattage is rms
Does it have a battery
This one does not. I believe the new Eon One MKIi does though
Need a comparison against the evolves 50 and rcf's
If you would like to purchase both of those for me, I will do a review.
@@Kaledrums I already got the evolves...just curious to see if the prx is an upgrade or basically the same.
@@djfronkiejay Honestly it's left an right. The PRX has more power. It's my opinion the sound is better out of the EV, and the ease of use is desirable. Unless you need 2000 watts power or 1000RMS the jbl would be ok.
Apprently I got the max SPL wrong. It's 130 not 135
This speaker can't do 130 db.
@@lucabertolaso2167 from the JBL website Enjoy unmatched power and performance in a sleek, compact package: PRX ONE delivers a stunning 130db max SPL,
@@Kaledrums from Sony website they say every of the speaker do 20-20khz
@@Kaledrums when I will find a prx unit to test I will try to do measurements and comparison between jbl and db es1203
@@Kaledrums do u see any issue with shearing off any of those knobs in transit? If it had an AUX1 like the 50m I would have bought it in heart beat.
I tried the peavey ln1263, ugh the front end/interface was terrible coupled with poor design.

@@philipsunderland3452 Me too!
You need mixer and notebook
No body Demo these with the mic & reverb & delay
The market in my opinion, is intended for the singer song writer or small band. However it seems these are more popular as a PA system for Karaoke etc. Ill see what I can do about getting you a mic demo. Thanks for your feed back.
So I just got a pair today. Got home and set them up and there's NO SOUND!!! No Bluetooth or signal is coming in. Smh....
You have to go in to the menu, down to settings etc connect Bluetooth audio paring, make sure the device you're using like your phone or computer is turned up. then turn the volume up on your Bluetooth channel, which is channel 7 also make sure the volume on the unit is turned up as well. Best of luck!
