    Nice video.
Wow, what an impressive new product! They’ve definitely pushed the envelope on the column array market.
I have three setups: SRX800 for large venues, ELX200 for small/medium and a Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge for tiny places. This fits in between the Fishman and the ELX.
I am very impressed with the specs on paper. The sub gets down to 35Hz (-10)/40(-3) where as my ELX200-12SP only reaches 41/49. That’s a big difference! And especially so for a 12” sub!
I like that they have delay as well as reverb. And Lexicon is my favorite. Harman is leveraging their catalog here.
Also I see they have compression in the mixer. I’ll be curious to see how that performs in practice.
One thing JBL has always needed (with me anyway) was a DriveRack with RTA mic to EQ the system for the room. I’ve never found their boxes to sound good without that. But it looks like that while the PRX ONE has the dbx feedback suppression (which is great) it doesn’t have the ability to tune a room with an RTA mic.
The (almost) all-in-one aspect of this is what really intrigues me comparing it to my other systems. No mixer needed! No floor wedge or in-ears. You could even use the newer 2.4 guitar and mic systems and really go cordless with this.
With my ELX200 and SRX systems I’ve got to bring in a mixer, a driverack and that brings a full set of features but takes up a lot of space. This is so much simpler.
And I totally agree on the appeal of having the app and the hardware knobs in a compact package. I love my Allen & Heath Qu-SB that uses the iPad but I really wish it had a few knobs. You know when there is a sudden loud squeal or something and you lunge over and slam the main fader down? Try doing that when you have to locate an iPad first, wake it up, unlock the screen… argghh
I have an SQ5 which has everything but it’s huge.
This is an exciting product. Hopefully their currently working on the JBL SRX ONE! :-)

Hey Aaron, I just found out that you're in NYC. I'm a neighbor from CT. I feel like we share the passion in searching for acoustic tech that will make our live sound better. I'm really excited about the PRX One. I currently own a LD Systems Maui 28, HK Audio Lucas Nano 608i and an EV Evolve 50 for column line arrays. I had a JBL Eon One and returned it for the weak preamps on the mics. I also have a JBL compact which is great!
A topic that I love for you to cover would be live sound check for the solo performing artist who sets up their own gear and has no sound tech. Unless we get out in front of the sound, we really don't know what the room is directly hearing. Bluetooth app operation helps a bit using a guitar loop, but it doesn't help with vocal and isn't the same as a virtual sound check that some bigger mixers can swing. Using a wireless mic and guitar could allow you to stand opposite the speaker and listen to what you sound like, but again you can't really tweak while just listening. I do set my IEM's to mimic the mixer out, so at least I can adjust the mix between different components of my mix, though setting EQ and such is not really accurate.
What are you experiences and tips with getting the best over mix of sound from venue to venue?
In my mind, the ultimate solution would be for a manufacturer like JBL to put a small flashcard in a unit like the PRX One that records 1 min. of all of the tracks independently, allowing you to play it back on a loop so that you can use the app and go in the audience to mix EQ, effect, volumes between all inputs in realtime... etc. Maybe they can achieve this by allowing the app to use the phone or tablet's internal hard disk to record and playback via bluetooth to accomplish the same thing. If they allow this, they might as well make the unit able to record sessions. This would be AMAZING! What are you thoughts on such and idea, and could you ask Brandon Knudsen about such a thing next time you talk with him?
Anyways, thanks for your consideration and for all of the great videos that really get into the nitty gritty of these products!! It really helps us working musicians make good decisions on our gear purchases. All the best Aaron.

We had 2 of them. The large ones with the 15s, We had a great experience with the speakers, I would run a line out of the one side, and line into channel 1 on the other side and we used it like a traditional PA system, We don't get Pan left and right stereo, but no one is really using that anymore, the pre-mixes were great. Our only beef was the top end. We almost immediately felt like we needed more PA. Our system got us through most nearly all conventional gigs in standard-sized bars. The line array was SUPER easy to set up, we could literally set up mic drums bass guitar 2 vocals for a power trio. Truly was an excellent system.
A couple of the things that bugged me, there are always a few things with any system, The PRX one app was a bit tough to do nuanced changes through the app, so turning the channel up and down for instance it takes a special touch, but doing nuanced and really small corrections could be difficult.
Anti Feedback settings were phenomenal, we would sometimes use the speakers behind us about a meter or 2 to left or right of mics and would be able to play "In the environment" minus even monitors and find an incredible sound with a mix of stage volume and PA. For solo gigs though that is where the system TRUELY shines., Acoustic gigs there is no easier, better, cleaner, lighter set up. 10 out of 10 for solo gigs. 2 units for full production act. 7.5 for 10.. Just my experience, Great channel Aaron, thanks for the feedback! New sub here!

Evolve30m user here. Bought it because of the app. JBL's app looks great, few miles ahead from the EV's (that still does the job very well!).
Overall, any collum PA is great for the solo musicians. No back pain, compact, all-in-one unit, easy load/unload, saved presets...
I am glad that many companies are joining the race in this filed, so we get better products.
I belive that they all sound similar (good), but it is the usability, customisation, and what you can use as a SOLO artist in LIVE situation that sets them apart.
Would love to see your comparisons off random collum PA's in the future.

This will probably be more powerful but I hope you can give an honest review comparing the SQ between the two especially since acoustic guitar sound and vocals have been your focus on the Acoustic Guitar Forum. No. I have never used a Bose Pro8. I would like to compare the Bose 16 to the JBL. I think those are the two that most people will be looking at. Sounds great though.
Play solo guitar and sings. Works Great.
But in the paus and i wanna play some party music or something i dont get so much bass as i thought i was going to.
I really must crank the master gain up to get some ”ompa ompa” out of it.
      Tried this.
      Full volume at my iPad.
      Full master gain.
Set the volume on Channel 7(BT-A) instead.
It plays loud, but not as hard as i expected.
Tried to fiddle a bit with the EQ and turn up the bass and different settings like DJ och Café.
For a 2000w 12inch woofer more should happen even at medium volume i reckon?!
I mean, i have a 12inch woofer in my Home theatre that has only 200w who sounds Louder at low to medium gain.
Do you have any good tips for me?

One system may be enough but if you need to expand for larger venues then you would simply connect the ‘pass through’ from the first system into an input on the second system and mix everything from the first system. If you want to have stereo then you would need an external mixer. I hope this helps!

This host has not touched on the most important part of the feature: to calibrate the AFS first by singing into the mic until you create feedback than adjusting the feedback and repeating this process until you no longer achieve feedback. The new calibrated AFS setting is held in memory so that when you turn on ONLY the live AFS the previous calibrated settings will kick in giving you optimum AFS. This host made NO mention of this.

Do not... I repeat DO NOT buy this system. There is a HUGE overlooked design flaw. This system sounds great when you are standing up in an optimal position to the top segment. BUT lower yourself down a little bit, such as sitting in a chair, or raise the speaker such as on a stage and it's all gone. You'll only hear mid range and bass. All the high end clarity is absolutely gone. They even mention the lower speaker are tuned to mid range. Why, friken why!? Fire the genius behind this failure. If you are not at optimal listening position it absolutely sucks! I tested this today at guitar center. Had 2 of their guys listening. Then I said squat down just a little and see what happens. Both said Wtf. We even tried leaning the system down. Which works of you again are located in the optimal position. And who wants to lean the speaker??? The bose 16 has a J configuration just for this issue. The bottom speakers curve in. The JBL, not only are they tuned to just mid frequencies, but they are also straight. In guitar we also went about 20 ft away and you still get the effect of losing sound by not standing exactly at a certain level. I sat on a drum thrown as if it was a place where people sit down at regular height chairs. The throne was actually a bit higher and still lost the highs. It sounds like a regular speaker with a blown tweeter/driver. Absolutely RIDICULOUS! And by design. Smdh!
Don't believe me? Go test it yourself.
If you want to use it, and have no issues telling everyone to please stand up while I use this system, then buy it. Other than that it's worthless. I ordered one as well as a guitarist I work with. We both canceled orders after hearing this absolute craziness! Jbl I am ashamed of, and embarrassed for, you.
