I lived in the San Diego area from 1974-1981, at some point I met them at the Balboa park. They lived in a house close to the park. Had lunch with them a few times at the park and where they lived. Very nice people, am glad to have met them.

What happened? We got older, quietly. Now we are old and very appreciative that we had this special taste of life from early on to lead us in certainty to life's perfection. I would not trade a billion dollars for the happiness, love, contentment I enjoy from the influence of Lord Caitanya's movement as brought into my life by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, reaching out to my eternal soul so kindly so magically so heavenly back in the early seventies, just when I was looking for it. Make that a trillion dollars! Even these young girls who are here remembering their early days with Krsna, one day will feel the tears roll down their cheeks, their hearts explode with love, realizing just how very fortunate they were way back then, and now. None of that love is lost.

I stayed with the Montreal Krishna devotees for a while. They were always kind and generous, particularly in giving very tasty vegetarian food to the hungry. The chanting did lift one to a higher place, but the temple life was not for me, as my career took me away for at least half of the month. I wish them all well.

They need much more followers. In my town their is just a very small group about 3-4 chanting through the streets. If they was about 10 minimum i would join in with them.

When I was a teenager in the 70s, I could never understand why, when we were shopping in London, my friend would run away, terrified, when the Hare Krishna groups appeared. They always seemed so incredibly benign and rather jolly. I can't think of any prominent religious groups that I'd say that about nowadays.
I always loved and respected the hare krishnas. Going to the temples and chanting was a seed to my spiritual growth and happy life for the past four decades.
You don't have to follow the hard path but you can always chant the holy name with unconditional love for Krishna and the supreme Godhead Lord Krishna is so kind that He will always protect you from the influence of all evils and walk with you as your true companion in every phase of life and thereby fulfill your life with true ecstasy, joy, happiness, and love that can never be derived from the material world of Maya. I remember sleepwalking every time I met Hare Krishna's. I chant now to myself all the time because I believe I am in presence with godhead. I now work in this mindset and it has made me aware of my surroundings, loyality to produce my best work always. It is calming and rewarding. We live in a beautiful world filled with conflict. Spirituality means a direct connect with the Supreme being. He is in no way concerned whether you dress in the Hindu fashion or the Western fashion or you have a Hindu name or a Western name. The password to Him is pure heart and complete submission to Him. He is the "giver" of the World and doesn't want anything in return but just pure humble submission and love. You shower your love on Him and see the transformation in your ownself.
It is a beautiful promess, great times with the elderly Swami Bhaktivedanta (Prabhupad was a status nickname), but indeed his leading disciples took over to fast... sure lucky these ladies were, aside parents serving outside too much, cause in USA much wrongs, some by sheer trust in recruts, some by non carring Authorities (as WV new vrindaban). I admire the people who were able to experience the beautiful aspects of this movement and not get destroyed by the internal issues. I grew up in the 70's as a teen and saw Krishna's at Rainbow Gatherings and ate at their kitchens. I have friends who were into this even more than me back then, and most have grown up to have careers and happy families. Not many communes happening anymore. People have changed.

There are western groups and stick to them - in India it is horrendously sexist. What happened? We got older, quietly. Now we are old and very appreciative that we had this special taste of life from early on to lead us in certainty to life's perfection. I would not trade a billion dollars for the happiness, love, contentment I enjoy from the influence of Lord Caitanya's movement as brought into my life by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, reaching out to my eternal soul so kindly so magically so heavenly back in the early seventies, just when I was looking for it. Make that a trillion dollars! Even these young girls who are here remembering their early days with Krsna, one day will feel the tears roll down their cheeks, their hearts explode with love, realizing just how very fortunate they were way back then, and now. None of that love is lost.

Although I am not a Krishna devotee, I have several friends who are. They are amazing folks full of love.
I believe being vegetarian is the best thing which we can do as a human being .and don't know how long we keep on saying about humanity even after being too inhuman to the creatures in the world. and giving an absurd justification that; God created all this for us .and its a paradox that how God can leer on someone that constantly denies the freedom of animals to live .PLZ UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NO COMPASSION AS Distinct.its same for all living things try to see God in human and even in a nasty pig because it protect and show ultimate love to his baby under any circumstances even they risk their life .that is the quality which we sans.we have a sectarian approach to everything like love for same caste, group, community and so on .A discriminated form of love is not ultimate compassion it's just like an afflicted law .they are just pretending so for their well being and they show their real character on one day .this is the reason why the old age homes are poliferating.
Love and compassion to every creature is most important point for Hre Krishna Devotee . Without it there is no profit of 'Japa' . Service to needy Beings is service to Krishna .

I stayed with the Montreal Krishna devotees for a while. They were always kind and generous, particularly in giving very tasty vegetarian food to the hungry. The chanting did lift one to a higher place, but the temple life was not for me, as my career took me away for at least half of the month. I wish them all well.
why they are not kind and generous in their own country...they treat Christians in INDIA as very low caste and humiliate them if required....they want to showcase themselves, they are not good as everyone thinks....A good person/religion is good at every place not specifically to particular place

When I was a teenager in the 70s, I could never understand why, when we were shopping in London, my friend would run away, terrified, when the Hare Krishna groups appeared. They always seemed so incredibly benign and rather jolly. I can't think of any prominent religious groups that I'd say that about nowadays.
I always loved and respected the hare krishnas. Going to the temples and chanting was a seed to my spiritual growth and happy life for the past four decades.

You don't have to follow the hard path but you can always chant the holy name with unconditional love for Krishna and the supreme Godhead Lord Krishna is so kind that He will always protect you from the influence of all evils and walk with you as your true companion in every phase of life and thereby fulfill your life with true ecstasy, joy, happiness, and love that can never be derived from the material world of Maya.

As the Church attracted many perverse individuals...- But sure was nice video, wonderful to see happy souls came out of very immature management in all regards. THANKS!
I admire the people who were able to experience the beautiful aspects of this movement and not get destroyed by the internal issues. I grew up in the 70's as a teen and saw Krishna's at Rainbow Gatherings and ate at their kitchens. I have friends who were into this even more than me back then, and most have grown up to have careers and happy families. Not many communes happening anymore. People have changed.

There are western groups and stick to them - in India it is horrendously sexist. It's fun but they hate Darwin, evolution etc and are over sexed but blame tonatoes, onions and garlic!:) Good fun if you don't get involved too far until you find too many instances of hypocrisy and gross stupidity. But hinduism doesn't force anyone to learn everything from society but asks to stay away from only the bad things like adultary , liquor , non-veg etc . Yes that's fine but nobody asks to not learn the schools knowledge , games , trends , clothing .
