I like how the furnace wire and electric barrier all have a legitimate death screen but in the end it’s just “good job numb nuts”

I love how spookys jump scare mansion is scary but still has a sense of humor
The monsters: pretty basic and scary on a degree
The deaths: the flesh is reforming, the fog is coming
the death screens: ggs bro u failed
The 2D textures of this version definitely add to the uncanniness
Though at the same time it looks a bit…cursed

The 3d moddels also feels uncanny to me because they felt way too detailed for spooky’s jumpscare mansion,

the electrocution and explosion ones got me the most because at the end of the electrocution, the corpse turns to face you and being in a room about to explode is one of my most specific fears
The cut off sound when the corpse faces you is somewhat not scary for some reason to me

1. If you die to the Husks, Git Gud is a very fitting message. Also the death screen makes me think that they're turning your corpse into a husk or at least explaining how they were made from the dolls and spirits.
2. Same for here, except the stretching corpse in the background is a nice touch, makes it appear more agonizing.
3. This one gives off a more industrial feel, possibly adding onto the theory that Frenzy is the soul of a GL Labs worker who went insane.
4. I guess I'm seeing a pattern of each Death Screen spelling a riddle about each Doll Monster's origin story. This one is probably the most gruesome and ambiguous, which explains why the text is so faded.
5. Be thankful you didn't stick your other thing in that hole.
6. Imagine being made fun of by barbed wire, hah. Couldn't be me.
7. APFJOIQWFNOVQOIOFNE WHADAFUQ? This electric gate is fucking haunted, man.
8. Why does it feel like this connects to the Dollhouse's Bad Ending?

Every death screen text is a metal verse, and I had so much fun coming up with a rhythm for all of them. Thank you for killing 30 minutes of my day!

Some people would be surprised to encounter Specimen 9/Taker since in the main game you defeat Taker and they haven’t encountered any specimen in the doll house.

Something about OG sprite Charles standing up at about 1 frame per second and then transitioning into a smooth, fast run makes him ACTUALLY unnerving.

Heya, first comment in a while. These were pretty neat, I have definitely not seen all of these before!
I have to say though, I have no idea how anybody is supposed to reasonably figure out what some of these death screens are trying to say without trying to screenshot it or anything like that. You were right about the flashing warning, and even pausing the video to read some proved to be a bit challenging in it of itself.
However it was still really neat, and I didn't release the other specimens from the hellgate chase actually had different text in their screens. So I certainly learned something today!
I don't have a whole lot else to say, however I posted the crazy Lisa chase from stream, I'm sure you already saw, I still need to get to uploading the stream itself though. I am curious, do you still want to send the link to the interview with the dev? I think you were about to, but Lisa cut us off!

I totally agree with you about everything you said though. Many of these deaths are pretty cool, but I just wish I could read the text on them better. But at least the "," and "." keys allow us to move through the video one frame at a time, which helps a lot!
I have actually not watched your Lisa chase video yet, but I will very soon since that was indeed a clutch chase. It is ironic how you escaped that insanely hard chase, but died to Specimen 5 in the end. Specimen 5 was the last specimen I would have imagined to end your run, and I'm sorry it had to happen, especially right before Room 4000...but hey, 3900+ is still insanely good, and very few people can make it that far (although I'm sure it may be a tad bit easier with the Spooper glitch).
Yes, I'll go ahead and send you the link to the interview, as cringy as the interviewer was. A few awkward silences were unbearably cringy. Some of the questions that were asked were rather pointless, but some were quite interesting. Sadly, there were many questions I wished the interviewer had asked, but oh well. The interviewer was probably someone who isn't as knowledge with the game as we both are!

I guess the distance from the monsters makes things a bit more clear of what they do and stuff. Feels like running straight up to them while they're being too close and you can't see much of them feels wrong. I don't know how to describe. And if I'm even thinking right.
Edit: And doing things at the last moment can make things feel too quick and you maybe get more unsure of where it came from. Introduce the viewer to the thing, show what it does, how dealing with it looks like a little and then take enough damage for the death. But again, I'm unsure with my thoughts.
