Addie Kent Thomas Jeffries was my nieghbor as a kid about 20 minutes from New Hope.
Sadly your tour guide left out much!!
Although the train is Very expensive it's worth it if you get a good tour guide!!! The dinning car is for Mystery Crime Night Rides. There's also the Santa Train ride in winter. The regular train ride points out many of the Abolitionist Safe Houses as well as Andy Warhol's house, houses once owned by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle and many, many other artists.
The Wedgewood Inn is a great place and the owners Carl and Deenie are lovely people and a beautiful place to stay. Carl was the man telling the story of the bridge.
At one time in history both sides of the river were called Corryel's Ferry. Your tour guide also didn't point out where Stella Dallas and her husband an FBI agent lived.
The Logan Inn has great food and Sliders. Eating outside on the patio is good but Karlas is sooooooo much better! Not sure if Karlas still hosts a poetry slam once a week but does have band nights.
Havana's also has Great food and many, many Amazing bands and musicians play there!
Sadly there are no more Mule Barge rides up the canal because they stopped the canal from filling up :( The canal on the Lambertville side is full and you can ride your bikes, hike, walk and enjoy from Washington's Crossing all the way up to Frenchtown or Milford NJ. Maybe farther.
Just Always remember if you're driving across the Washington Crossing bridge, pull in your side windows or you may lose them if there is oncoming traffic!!!
You may also enjoy Shad Fest, the 2nd to last weekend in April. In 03 the river flooded so high a Baluga Whale came all the way up the river chasing Shad. It just couldn't go further than the Wing Dam. They got the poor thing turned around and back down all the way to the Bay but then he turned himself around and swam up the Schuykill River and got up close to the Rocky Steps at The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The Bucks County Playhouse is Wonderful. With all the new renovations there are many plays, The Nutcracker Ballet and other events in winter now because there is now a heating system in winter. They did a lovely job rehabbing the place for the long history of the place. Many Broadway Plays were tried out there first before being shown in NYC. Such as Barefoot in the Park with Robert Redford. Not sure if they still do Jesus Christ Super Star in Spring but the rule used to be that Any child wanting to be in the play was Always allowed.
And then there's Winterfest in February that begins with Mummers marching across the bridge and events on both sides.
Not sure how the Covid is affecting many of these events but on Friday night's in summer there's usually a Great fireworks display over the bridge too and eagles nesting on the pylons of the bridge even with all the hundreds of people walking across daily.
    Enjoy :)

@@MLRG551 You're very welcome. I also forgot to mention the reenactment of Washington crossing the river on Christmas Eve is held yearly. Sometimes the river is too shallow there to row across so they walk. There are unmarked graves of Hession soldiers all over up there. There are also all along the canals on both sides, unmarked graves of the Irish immigrants who died digging them.
So many hidden gems and back roads to take to bypass tourist traffic. Hidden old Speak Easies where folks like Louis Armstrong played. The Algonquin Round Table group may have had lunch in NYC but many of them had homes in Bucks County. After that first tragic 9/11 they began showing promo ads in movie theaters in NYC to come move to safe Bucks Co. From that 1st 9/11 till that Christmas, 600 families alone packed up and left the city. I can't imagine how many more now.
Mikey Land I think you just helped me make my final decision to move back home and I can't thank you enough!!!

I don't know how far you travel to get to New Hope & Lambertville but there are Soooo many Great places to see all up and down my favorite river there!!!
From Ringing Rocks State Park in Upper Black Eddy to High Rocks Vista at Ralph Stover State Park that the writer James Michner gave to the Township to The Stockton Inn made famous in the Broadway and film musical Pal Joey with Sinatra singing this song...

They missed new hope arts center. Home of 3 ghosts. My Gallery is there, Scrambed! Gallery of Gifts. One of the ghosts is known to push people off ladders, so when I have to use a ladder to arrange art , I have to ask the ghost to please not push me. ;)
