I worked in Scotland for several years and got to visit several castles while I was there. I went to Sterling on my last trip to Scotland, and it turned out not being far from where I stayed in Greenock. I love this castle the best and still have an 8mm video from the day I was there. I love Scotland

Was there this summer. Stayed at the University of Stirling, and the view from my bedroom was the castle! It was just beyond magical to wake up every day to the sight of it! And the visit with the tour guide was just everything... yes I did feel that magical mysterious vibe you speak of. I'm very grateful for this experience. :)
By the way, at 12.14 that little corner/nish where you were standing, looking out through an opening, some guy was killed there back in the day, had his head smashed against the wall. I'm a medium, well not a professional medium, but I channel randomly like that. Interesting that while I was actually there I didn't see anything. I think I closed myself to it coming in so the experience wouldn't be too overwhelming. But I just saw it now while you were there.

Bound too be full of past residual energies (ghosts)...don't know if I shall ever get to Scotland in my lifetime now, but have always wanted to explore the home of my namesake, or where it originated from, but would be getting close to the Shetland Isles in Scotland for that! Thank you for sharing the history of this altogether fantastic castle its good to be able to see such on film....and there are a fair percentage of castles in Scotland, possibly because of the vastness of the county...

Do you like European history or History of the British Isles which is two different things or both. We are part of the British Isles ( which comprises of about 187 permanently inhabited islands in total) not connected to the European mainland which we would call Europe. The British Isles is not Europe. Though we are part of the European Union. Coming from England I personally love our History and the History of Scotland which is so intertwined with ours. I suppose it could be said as we were invaded by Europe we have some things in common with European history bar our wars with France and Saxons and Norman invasions. If your interested in Scottish history you should watch the History of Scotland series or if you love English History then there is a great series on You Tube called Britain's Bloodiest Dynasty which covers the Plantagenet kings. if your into ghost stories in English, Irish, welsh and Scottish castles then there is a great series narrated by the late Sir Robert Hardy Called Castle Ghosts of England, Castle Ghosts of Scotland and one of Ireland. you may really enjoy them. All of them are on you tube. i thought they were fantastic you may enjoy them too.

Happening across your video was a real treat. In 2017 I took a holiday to Scotland, partly to honour my late Scottish friend. Stirling Castle was one of my stops. I tend to take my time at locations and savour the atmosphere. Your video brought back it back to me. You also mentioned events & occurrences that I was unaware of. So thank you both.
One of the other locations I visited that year was Edinburgh Castle. I was there for the Royal Military Tattoo. Interestingly, many of the photos I took once darkness had set in were replete with 'orbs'.
Take care, mind those castle walls, & Happy 2020.

21:04. My grandad used to live in Raploch Road the street at the time mark when he was wee. He tells us stories of the castle and how they used to sneak into the cup and saucer and get up to no good. It’s amazing to take him up to visit it and to hear all the tales. You are more than welcome back to our wee country any time! Awesome video! 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Well done, Matt! I toured Stirling Castle in September,1998 and they were about to begin preparation for the huge celebration on 12/31/1999. So many great castles in Scotland but Stirling was very special. The great hall was amazing as was the military museum. Didn't see (or feel) any ghosts, although I expect there are many about. It was a clear day when we were there and we could see Edinburgh Castle in the distance. You were so lucky to live there for a year, Matt. The people, the history and the countryside make Scotland my favorite vacation spot.

I'm curious if you or anyone knows how much later the newer part of the castle (where the Queen's apartments are) was built vs. the older. Great, great video.
