Thanks for the tour of New Hope. My daughter and I lived there back in the eighties. she went to high school in New Hope, I was a school bus driver at the high school. Ocassionally my son would join us and he worked on the towpath leading the mules that pulled the barrages full of tourists up and down the canal. My honest opinion of the town was that the people there are snobby, I was really surprised when I saw a Dunkin' Donuts on Main St. Back when I was living there anything "main stream" was frowned upon.

You actually passed the best kept secret in New Hope...Martines which is to the far left of the playhouse. The other great place is Zoubis . Fun thing to do...go into the visitors center and get the scavenger hunt map. There are plenty of beautiful sculptures to see that you have passed by unknowingly.
Years ago we would tour New Hope, Usually at first snow. But went there many times during the summer. At the time the canal suffered a several season dry spell. The guide at the canal tenders house when asked about why it was dry told us that when they restored that canal lock they couldn't get it to seal because the lumber the lock gates were made from would float! Me and my wife Sue made our own New Hope tour CZcams video in 2010 but it has copywrite issues because of the music on the train.
That cop was such an ass for telling you ya can't scooter in the street , WDF ? But yet they can ride their 10 speed bikes on River rd /32/ N main st .with just enough room for cars to drive on and that's ok "Geepers" , ..I know put him down in kenzo an see how that works out for him ..lol.
There are a lot of snobs in New Hope and everything is over priced.

At 75 New Hope doesn’t have the appeal to me that I had as a younger man. Window shop, people watching, more window shopping.. THANKS for the tour

Funny I lived in Philly in the 80's and never once visited this place. I live about 4 hours from there now I might have to take a trip this summer.
I am in Warrington, i ride my scooter around 611 and horsham with no problems yet.. where else do you ride? What kind of scooter do you have?
I hike the canal through there pretty regularly. I see lots of wildlife along there. When I was a kid in the early 70's my dad took me on the New Hope-Ivyland train. It's a stream engine. That's still operational.There were also barges pulled by mules that you could ride on the canal. They are long gone. When I was really little I remember we drove through and a mob of hippies was sitting by the cannon. One of them shot me a peace sign.
Great tour! BTW, I rode my bike across the New Hope/Lambertville bridge in traffic. As I reached the end in Lambertville a Delaware River Bridge commission officer walked up to me and said I must walk my bike on the pedestrian walkway. Not yelling at me but said calmly no riding in traffic on the bridge. His demeanor was very cool. Oops! I didn’t know any better. Lesson learned!
Hi Captain! You were speaking of bad taste sensations...the other day I bought a big bag of potato sticks...later opened them really dying for a handful and got the worst taste sensation ever...by mistake I picked up sour cream and onion flavored, yuk! I hate that flavor! Anyhoo...hope you and your family are doing good & thanks for this vid, New Hope is the cutest lil town!

generally every town mostly smaller ones do not have a 1st Street. This is because in most cases at some point in time these they were reamed to Main Street. Chances are Main st. is the most used name fior what wa once 1st. Street.
My hometown, it’s such a cool place.
