The 1994-1996 Fleetwoods were awesome! The LT1 motor was the icing on the cake that made them legendary in my opinion. And it has to be the Brougham with the padded roof!
my grandfather gave my grandmother this car brand new for a valentines day gift. metallic blue with all the bells and whistles......we still have it but its lost its luster after 22 years....but I still love that big blue behemoth.
WAQWBrentwood Did you forget the Eldorado and Toronado being the first cars to be FWD?? The DTS is a true Cadillac for the modern era. Sure the Fleetwood was the last GM built on a frame but not for Ford....it was the Lincoln Town Car that was the true last car built on a frame.
Braking in only 125 for such a large car and that long ago is actually incredible, these didn't even have full discs, they had drums in the rear. Most much smaller cars today can't even make that number.
+stevehislop I weighed my 93 on a public truck scale. Mine weighed in at 4880 lbs with a half tank of fuel and a lone 200 lb driver. So when I filled the tank up and rode 3 or 4 of my family members with cargo in the trunk it was barreling down the road at 6000 lbs. These were some very well made cars.
That 4-note horn, always reminded me of my dad's big BUICKS, growing up. Buick Riviera G.S. if you wait ed til the next year, you were enchanted with the LT1, detuned to 260sae-ponies. It made a BIG DIFFERENCE. The LAST OF THE GREAT CADDIES.
@@ChevyBM the lt1 was so nice in this car, but I quite like the L05 featured in the 93, that engine uses no oil and burns cleaner than bleached papers. My dad's 93 is at 330k miles rn and still kicks butt. My 96 is at 191k and also has no real issues. It just needs spark plugs and that's about the extent of the engine issues.
My 93 Fleetwood was best year....no optispark to worry about, no 4L60 to cry about either. Plenty of power from 5.7 350 and plenty of grace from Brougham package. Mine is Firemist Red Tintcoat with Black Simcon roof and Burgundy leather.
That car was the last real true Cadillac ever made. Full frame large wheelbase gave you the security of being in your living room. Today's Cadillac with exception to the Escalade is what I call throw away cars. Once they get into an accident unless it's a minor fender bender you toss the car away into the junk yard and insurance company gives you another one
Timothy Evans I disagree, the last good year was the 1992. This body came out in 1993 and I thought it was horrendous when I first saw it...ugly just like today's cars. However, it did ride nice like the older ones. I own a 1968 Cad Convertible with the 472 with almost 400hp and original front disc brakes. I love it!
Love my gorgeous 1993 Fleetwood Brougham, exact same color with the vinyl top as in the video. Slightly different wheels. All this poppycock talk about the LT1 versus the 5.7L V8. I'm perfectly content with my 1993 as it marks the first year of the, in my opinion, gorgeous change of the body style and reintroduction of the Fleetwood Brougham. If you want a car to go faster, buy a Corvette. The 5.7L V8 has plenty of power for the Fleetwood Brougham! Plus, nowadays she's a collector and quite frankly a cruiser. So, the LT1 versus 5.7L V8 debate should really be moot. To end, any Fleetwood Brougham 1993 to 1996 is better than a lot of the junk that's out today, also own a newer Cadillac, which I love but it's two different animals!
They're both 5.7l v8s just the 93 has the Chevy L05 which is essentially an engine for Chevy trucks at the time. Super good engine but the lt1 has some more horsepower.
The LT1 engines in the 1994-1996 were much more reliable than those junk Cadillac Northstar engines of the day that blew up at well under 100k miles. But I will give you credit for the styling of the late 1990's Cadillac Seville and Eldorado though, you have a solid point there.
jsciarri Ah no they were not junk at all. The Cadillac Northstar never blew up. Your thinking of the old 4.1L engines. The Northstar engines are very reliable engines which is why they are still Cadillac's most successful production V8 and made the longest. The OHV engines like the LT1 also would have issues and reliability problems when not maintained right either.
lol Is that comment a joke? Look up anywhere on the internet, and the early Cadillac Northstar motors made anytime during the 1990s were some of the worst engines ever made by any manufacturer. That's why the mid or late 1990s Cadillac are for sale so cheap today; because the car is worthless with that POS engine installed. And you obviously know nothing about the LT1. First off they're not OHV as you suggested, and contain pushrods. These engines were installed into many cars during the 1990's, such as the B & D bodies and were known for the simplicity and durability, especially in the taxi and police departments. These engines have plenty of potential since they were also installed into the Corvette & F-Bodies of the day, and now are being sought after. The Northstar nightmare has, and will continue to be forgotten about.
jsciarri I am very aware of the Lt1 engines. The LT1 is an OHV pushrod engine and do suffer with problems and issues from poor maintenance just like any other engine. Cadillac's, Lincoln's, Mercedes, Buick's, Chevrolet's and everything else are all cheap right now. The market changed towards trucks and SUV's. The Northstar Cadillac's are some excellent drivelines that last a long tme which proper maintenance. And a lot of online sources are incorrect with Cadillac's and many other vehicle's out there. The Northstar will never be forgotten about as they are very popular and was used in many applications just like the LS engines from GM. And most of those so called problems that you may be reading about are all maintenance related and nothing more.
Fwd sucks. Handles like shit on the highway and around curves. The fleetwood brougham has a much smoother ride than fwd cadillacs at the time like the el dorado.
+ftffighter I don't really agree with them saying the Caddy was better in this test. I think the Lincoln was better in other areas including body style.
These Fleetwood are the best cause they have chevrolet 350 engines and the 94-96 Fleetwood got the LT1 350 thats the same engine that came in the corvette and the SS camaro and Z28 the only difference is the heads and cam, corvette and camaroSS got the aluminum angle plug head that where for performance other than that they are the same engine to people that don't know shit about GM.just look at what they are doing now ,CTS-V has the new chevrolet LT4 small block V8 that has 650 HP that can run with any European car u can think of but for a fraction of the cost.Chevy V8 are the best.
The Lincoln Town Car of the same years was a much better looking car being its domestic rival. This one has to be the ugliest looking for a Cadillac. I think the Lincoln won on several more areas and one is better body style! The Lincoln was much more advanced and were much stronger sellers than this newer Fleetwood Brougham. The previous Fleetwood Brougham was much better in many ways and were much stronger sellers. These were not strong sellers which is why they were discontinued after 1996, same mistake just like the Cimarron. The Northstar V8 Eldorado, Seville and Deville were the best Cadillac's for the 90s era.
jsciarri The Eldorado and Seville are my favorite of the 90's Cadillac's but what made Cadillac back on the map was the Northstar V8. They really are one of the best V8 engines ever put into Cadillac's. They do not self implode at all unless there is a fuel rupture somewhere as it can happen on any engines. They only reason a 40k engine may have had problems is that the coolant turned acidic from sitting which happened a lot on many GM vehicles running Dexcool antifreeze after 1997. They are not garbage at all but are some excellent well built high performance engines.
These cars were discontinued because of a growing demand for SUVs which offered greater seating capacity, in many cases along with off-roading ability.
texan903 Yes they were discontinued because of the growing demand for off road SUV's, but also there were several other better selling GM sedans that were much more exciting, more advanced and having more available options. Even the Ford, Lincoln's and Mercury's were much popular and selling better than these GM Rwd sedans.
I thought this was when Cadillac finally lost it's way and sold out. This car was butt ugly and rounded just like today's ugly junkers on the road. The last pretty true Cadillac was the 1992 Brougham. Cadillac styling finally ended with this ugly heap!
UGLY UGLY UGLY junk car!!! owned two of them myself and were very cheap. They make for a perfect demo derby car! The previous broughams are the best ones.
I disagree. I like the way these behemoths float down the road in near silence and accelerate so quick and smooth and the engine is so quiet. The heated seats with driver memory and 3 position lumbar, speed sensitive steering, oil life indicator, fluid monitors, dual airbags, front and rear cup holders, front and rear lighted vanity mirrors, rear door power lock buttons, pass key starter immobilizer to prevent theft, 6 speaker stereo with 2- 8" rear deck speakers. Old Broughams aint got shit on these.
dstarks80 Its still an ugly car man. I inherited one like this and a deville same years and they were both the same thing. They have nice options and ride nice but they are ugly cars. The previous chrome tail lights Brougham's were the best looking ones, not this. also these broughams do not have speed sensitive steering or oil life monitors...that was the Deville that had that. This car was very outdated. im glad they ended them.
+Bigluxurycar 69 I had a 93 and yes it had an oil life monitor. It was a crude version of an oil life monitor which simply reminded you to "change oil" via a dash light. mine came on between 2700-3700 miles depending on how the vehicle was driven. speed sensitive (variable ratio) steering was standard on all RWD cads beginning in 1991 and is controlled by the vehicle speed sensor.
dstarks80 i still do not like them. they are very outdated and old. nice seats but thats about it. they really didnt ride any better than the newer devilles. and the newer devilles are much much nicer and better. the northstar v8 really makes the difference.
The 1994-1996 Fleetwoods were awesome! The LT1 motor was the icing on the cake that made them legendary in my opinion. And it has to be the Brougham with the padded roof!

Never to late to restore this classic. Found me a 94
Give it a new dress 👗
The last of the real Cadillacs...
+CEOkiller The last of the real GM cars period were built on this platform. Today, they're junk that falls apart and rots by 100K.
Yep,While I like the older 80-92 Version (for styling), these 93-96s ARE the last real Cadillacs.
+CEOkiller The last of the REAL Cadillac's is the DTS that ended in 2011 with the 2011 Lincoln Town Car for Ford as the last REAL Lincoln.
AMCNorthstar 93 DTS was "Cadillacish" but to me a real Cadillac is BOF and RWD.

eots44 Probably because 2 tons of car are pressing down onto the wheels...but I love that era of Cadillac.
I love that era as well, I'd buy a 94-96 though with the LT1, my favorite is the 00-05 Devilles, I miss cars like that!

+eots44 If you like that era Deville, You should try a 2006-2011 DTS. They are great cars too.
+dstarks80 you can't even say deville and fleetwood in the same sentence. that's like saying you want fried chicken and get crow.
