I noticed everyone saying the interviewer wasn't good but I thought she worked well with the young lady to make her feel comfortable, which is important because we saw what happens when she gets tensed or uncomfortable. God bless this young lady either way, she did go threw a lot to be so young.

The interviewer is really disconnected from reality and she's in need of therapy herself. She's acting like the girl just got back from an Alaskan Adventure. She went through a significant trauma that is going to affect her for the rest of her life. The sad thing about it is that with most victims of traumatic trauma especially ongoing it often takes years before they realize the effects that it has upon them. It's like the layers of an onion being peeled away slowly and meticulously. Ask me how I know. This young lady is going to need years of therapy to even get some semblance of healing once it begins to really set in on her what took place. Just her going on iyanla was just a small peek into what happened but even from then she still hasn't really gotten it. That was kind of just to turn the lights on. But ongoing therapy as another person commented is absolutely needed. This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen in modern day. Additionally, This entire interview was tragic and it should have never happened. Some people don't need to have these types of jobs this is a complete disgrace.

I don't think she's angry. I think this interview focused more on the positivity and accepting the fact that she wants to be connected to the mother who raised her. Iyanla got the business because she forced the point of you need to choose one identity over another and one family over another. A forced choice would make the adults comfortable and safe but would rip her whole life and identity apart. If everyone truly has her best interest at heart they should just let her be and settle into accepting herself and the people she's connected to. That's the best way to facilitate healing and I think we see that in this interview.

That's enough to cause the most adult person to fall apart. The best way to deal with it is to allow her to come to grips with it in her own time and decide who she wants to be. It should be up to Alexis Kamiyah to decide. She can choose to be both because she is both. To choose Kamiyah would be to erase who she had grown up identifying herself as and leaving no foundation to fall back on. I think she is on the right tract in merging both sides of herself into one, her past life and her future life.

I do understand the loyalty to the mother she has always known as mom, it is a hard thing for her mother to bear. Give her time, space, love and allow her to grow into the person she will be. I had many traumas during my childhood and no one ever knew what was going on with me. I spent all of my childhood acting just like her. I was cheerful and positive and fun to be around. I was swallowing every real emotion I had in response to the trauma and living with my violators daily. No one ever knew that I was going through anything. But if, for my benefit, someone wanted me to get in touch with my true feelings and wouldn't let me get away with pretending I was fine all that came out of her would have come out of me. Of course she is angry, hurt, confused, broken but that's not who she is it's what she has to do to keep from loosing her mind. She can't do it alone and her birth family is doing her a disservice by pretending everything is ok. She's in deep trauma and needs lots of professional help and a family that are willing to do their hard work and support her through her hard work. You're going to lose her. Emotionally or even physically.
@@standdown4929 Her "counselor" deliberately pushed her buttons telling her her bf and father were given an "assignment" not to take her calls and she was supposed to stay overnight in the "womb." She needed one of them to drive her home and she had a major hissy fit because she didn't want to stay the night. I doubt she suffers. from deep trauma because during her formative years she had a loving mother and father and only at age 18 did she learn she was kidnapped by her non-biological mother. She did suffer some trauma after learning her parents were not her biological parents, but not anything that will stop her from succeeding in life.

It saddens me that the biological mother is going through so much pain. I wish Kamiyah and the biological father could understand that mom's role was replaced for 18 years, not dad's and it's heartbreaking to see Kamiyah praise Gloria over her biological mom. That's why the relationship is so rocky. They ALL need individual counseling because so many emotions are hidden that needs to come out. It's my hope that the biological parents can one day be thankful that Gloria did a good job raising Kamiyah and not make her feel bad for still wanting to keep that relationship.

In 2019, Gloria Williams appealed to have her sentence reduced, according to First Coast News. She self-filed the appeal and called the 18 years "cruel and unusual punishment" that was "disproportionate" to the crime she committed. Her appeal was denied. The nerve of this wicked woman.

The interviewer is really disconnected from reality and she's in need of therapy herself. She's acting like the girl just got back from an Alaskan Adventure. She went through a significant trauma that is going to affect her for the rest of her life. The sad thing about it is that with most victims of traumatic trauma especially ongoing it often takes years before they realize the effects that it has upon them. It's like the layers of an onion being peeled away slowly and meticulously. Ask me how I know. This young lady is going to need years of therapy to even get some semblance of healing once it begins to really set in on her what took place. Just her going on iyanla was just a small peek into what happened but even from then she still hasn't really gotten it. That was kind of just to turn the lights on. But ongoing therapy as another person commented is absolutely needed. This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen in modern day. Additionally, This entire interview was tragic and it should have never happened. Some people don't need to have these types of jobs this is a complete disgrace.

I don't think she's angry. I think this interview focused more on the positivity and accepting the fact that she wants to be connected to the mother who raised her. Iyanla got the business because she forced the point of you need to choose one identity over another and one family over another. A forced choice would make the adults comfortable and safe but would rip her whole life and identity apart. If everyone truly has her best interest at heart they should just let her be and settle into accepting herself and the people she's connected to. That's the best way to facilitate healing and I think we see that in this interview.

It's what Oprah used to do on local news BEFORE she went into the substantive stuff of her show. Huge difference in intent and, therefore, outcomes.

I had many traumas during my childhood and no one ever knew what was going on with me. I spent all of my childhood acting just like her. I was cheerful and positive and fun to be around. I was swallowing every real emotion I had in response to the trauma and living with my violators daily. No one ever knew that I was going through anything. But if, for my benefit, someone wanted me to get in touch with my true feelings and wouldn't let me get away with pretending I was fine all that came out of her would have come out of me. Of course she is angry, hurt, confused, broken but that's not who she is it's what she has to do to keep from loosing her mind. She can't do it alone and her birth family is doing her a disservice by pretending everything is ok. She's in deep trauma and needs lots of professional help and a family that are willing to do their hard work and support her through her hard work. You're going to lose her. Emotionally or even physically.
Her counselor walked away after her brutal outburst. There is a whole other side to her and it isn't pretty.

She needed one of them to drive her home and she had a major hissy fit because she didn't want to stay the night. I doubt she suffers. from deep trauma because during her formative years she had a loving mother and father and only at age 18 did she learn she was kidnapped by her non-biological mother. She did suffer some trauma after learning her parents were not her biological parents, but not anything that will stop her from succeeding in life.

A time will come when this young lady has a child of her own and realizes what her kidnaper did and that will be the day she doesn’t call her mom. She may have been well cared for by the kidnapper but that doesn’t change the fact she stole so many years from her. I’m glad she got as many years as she did in prison. She deserved more. She took advantage of a 16yr old teenager and forever changed her life. Kamiya has a bright future ahead of her but before she succeeds she’s gonna have to confront her kidnapper and get angry with her. She’s gonna have to to move forward and truly have healing.
