You cant play as a high pressing team with a centre forward who doesnt press. You could see Harry Kane clearly wasnt fit and whenever Simon had the ball he was able to pass it easily to a defender and kane was just statuesque. When Ollie Watkins came on he was much more effective and for about 10-15 minutes Spain were rattled but once Palmer got his goal we just sat back again and let Spain dictate. It was mainly hopeful long balls which would just end up coming back and that eventually led to Spains winning goal. We had some good moments but overall we werent good enough
Foden and Kane did a good job of limiting Rodri in the first half when Spain had the ball. Portugal played better than England with CR7 upfront who doesnt press at all. They had to deal with massive ego of CR7 who scolds his teammates if they passed the ball foot away from him.
