More of this. Please.
Arturo Is a TREASURE.
Jon Batiste You are becoming a Legend.
What an amazing man. Thank you for the introduction John!! Thank you Arturo for your beautiful music - you are both a gift to us all!!
Does this ever make it to the normal TV programming? It should! Amazing interview.
youtube is "normal tv'" Haven't you heard?
I love Arturo! He was one of the first Trumpeter's I ever listened too. Man is a legend, and his music is amazing.
man a living jazz legend talking real music. keep up with these segments!
This stuff needs to be incorporated more into the late show, I feel like John doesn't get as much credit as he should- like he always seems like hes tryin to be comedic, intentional or not, but when he is talkin music, makes me want to sit down at my piano and play some stuff
I do wish we were able to watch all the outtakes Jon and Stay Human do during commercial breaks. Maybe they're all being recorded for release some day.

Batiste podcasts! PLEASE!
Batiste knows exactly what questions to ask!!
jon is one smooth cat.
He is. It's a shame so many fools type shit about him in the comments sections.
To be fair he's so great here and in his own videos,, but his comedic improv during the show is so lacking
Oh, I understand completely. I'm not saying "fuck people who have an opposing view to mine" or anything like that. It's just a shame that others don't like him like I do. The first first time I read complaints about the guy I was a bit take aback is all. I actually like his off-kilter reactions to Stephen.
Jon*
He's really no different in that respect than Ed McMahon, Carson's sidekick. But sidekick sycophancy was McMahon's highest accomplishment; with Jon, it's just being a loud audience member. My mom was like that as an audience member: always interjecting, always loud: it's like some call and response thing.
I got no problem at all with Jon doing that, and apparently neither does Coal Bear.
When I was about 7 yrs old, my neighbor began a weekly meeting in his garage for all the kids in the neighborhood, he handed out flyers that read about a gathering to enjoy cake and ice cream and candy and cartoons.......he called it " The Good News Club". We went and he explained to us that these club meetings are only for happy positive delicious things and that all our friends are welcome. My parents were surprised someone went out of their way in their personal life putting aside their time to give his all to make even for an hour or 2 a bunch of us kids laugh and participate in everything fun. Arturo is right ! In today's stressful wacky world it would be awesome to create a GNC for all of us with a more positive outlook towards our little time we have here in this world.✌🏼😀✌🏼
Blues and Jazz musicians just have this really cool vibe!
thanks
This is amazing, could be a podcast or radio piece too. Great interview, John!
Oh yeah. I'd be all over a pod of Jon speaking with musicians.
Wonderful! Thank you to everyone who brought this to us, especially Jon and Arturo. And to the Late Show! Keepin' the light shining in these dark times.
Love the John Batiste segments
Batiste is such a claasy guy, and what a pianist!
This fella plays the brass off his trumpet. Amazing.
One of the absolute legends. Tumbaito is one of my all-time records. A true musician.
man I love Jon Batiste, such a sweet guy!
As a music lover, seeing John outside of Colberts show is amazing! This interview is great
No matter how many times I watch this interview, I learn more and more from Señor Arturo Sandoval. Its a masterclass from a living legend.
He listens to him speak, as intensely as he listens to him play. Feeling it.
"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain"
~Bradley Knowles~ Sublime~
Wow, Mr. Sandoval is awesome. Makes me wish I lived in NYC so I could go to the Blue Note Club and listen to his music!!!!
I've never clicked on anything so fast
This is fantastic, more of these segments please!
Excellent interview!
Why should someone thumb down this segment. Even if you are not a music man, the whole thing is cool.
Great video, but honestly I'm just as blown away by the consistently positive comments! Good job people!
The hell? _This_ was incredible! More please :)
Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval first met Dizzy Gillespie in Havana in 1977, when the American jazzman came to Cuba to play a concert. Sandoval showed him around the city ...That night, Sandoval managed to play his trumpet for Gillespie - and blew him away.
and the rest is history
Best music interview I've heard! Great words to live by not just for musicians. A.Sandoval is inspirational. J Baptiste is so talented and humble.
These segments are great, Batiste talking about what he knows extremely well rather than trying to be comedic.
themadbatter He never tried to be funny though. He's always been a musician.
Jon may not be a comedian but he is humorous and does come out with some good quips sometimes. He's also a sweetheart.
I like him too when he's trying to be comedic.
Stephen always puts him in the spot tho... love john batiste, I remember seeing his videos playing harmonica down in the subway way back
Sarah Bearheart I guess I didn't mean he couldn't be funny. Just that he doesn't make it his job to be. Hopefully we all have a bit of a funny bone inside. It's what makes us human.
I love these, keep em coming. That Batiste love is infectious.
This was great, thank you.
Man..that was cool
thumbs up Mr Batiste. this will be written in history someday. thank you for that
I'd give just about anything to see Arturo live. How can you NOT want to gravitate towards this guy?!
A lot of wisdom in what his guest Arturo Sandoval says...
Great interview Jon. A great trumpeter and a fascinating man. Thank you.
Good News Channel is genius. Only if that would exist somewhere... Cool interview!
More of this please (maybe on his own channel)?
Roni Archi +++ yes!
I got shivers as he spoke!
... when he played i had tears
you have me hope man!
Thank you Jon and Arturo. Keep these coming Jon! Love this stuff...
I saw Arturo's live show about a decade ago. To this day I'd have to rate it as one of the top 2 or 3 concerts I've seen over 50 years. Now I'm going to have to check out Jon.
Such a great conversation!! I still remember all these years later of Arturo describing his morning,
"The important thing for me, i swear to God, the first thing I so is get up and go to the piano. "
" I call that the first encounter with the day. "
love this ' session with ...
' mini series.
Love to hear them play together sometime. I love Cuban music.
I cannot even express how full of joy I am that Stephen is promoting stuff like this! People need to start appreciating jazz again as it's a beautiful way of expressing ourselves!
I loved playing this guys music in high school jazz!
Well done John! Good interview.
Arturo describing his relationship with Dizzy is one of true love - maybe not romantic, but true nonetheless.
Arturo is such a legend. The pure embodiment of music. It's so cool he digs John and the band.
That is how true artists sound like.
I REALLY enjoyed watching this interview. The way Arturo expresses himself reminds me of my father. Really brought a huge smile to my face.
This is great. I needed those words Sandoval spoke.
Enchantment!
Thanks, Jon. Your questions really got to the heart of Sandoval’s thinking. What a great player. No matter what comes out, it has a Cuban no-sé-qué. Awesome.
Really enjoyed this, is there more like this?
One of the best Arturo Sandoval love he's way of all ways thanking God for another day thank you for making music for the soul to fine the good of this world.
Love this spotlight on Sandoval. Please bring more jazz artists on here!
Arturo Sandoval is a legend!
Yes, but ask him and he'll tell you Jon Batiste is headed to even more. Not a musician anywhere doesn't get how freakin' great Jon is.
I got to see Arturo in Edmonds, Washington in 2012ihs. Best concert ever. He blew the lid off the joint. Videos do NOT do this man justice.
This is wonderful! Thank you!
I feel stupid for never hearing about this guy before. But I'm gonna make up for it in the next few days I promise. Very inspiring man and inspiring music.
many thanks to Jon and the Late Show for creating and sharing this straight-up gift to us all
The first time I heard Sandoval played was on the Dave Grusin's All Star tribute for the Beetles. He played "Black Bird"...the tone was unreal. It's like he's singing with the trumpet
Absolutely love you guys. Such talent... such the attitude we should all have. And yes, music heals the soul and rebuilds the broken heart.
Jon, so looking forward to your continuing this series with other musicians. And of course your improvisations with them as well as interviews. You are shining such light on making and BEING musical. And naturally we all have that in our blood.
This is great, need more of this to complement The Late Show. What a cool guy & Batiste is a class act as always. Really enjoyed & would enjoy seeing this more often!
More of this, please!
Love this.
Thank you guys... hard to express... memories of past loved ones... my Dad's old jazz albums.... wonderful talk
Fantastic video. Keep em coming
Jon is such a cool cat...I love his Cajun accent
Deebo Molina
the accent is Creole!😁😁
Yea, Jon is from Nawlins n they is creole!
Now I’m from Lafayette and got that Cajun accent.
We need more of this!
great interview, and what a talent! as a music lover, who doesn't play any instrument at all, I completely get what Arturo says about FEELING the music... and I love to know that feeling is shared!
Great interview! Well done. Fascinating. Thank you.
This video was everything to me. I'm very thankful for these two outstanding musicians.
Fantastic ! Keep it going please !
This needs to be a weekly thing!
Great stuff. Insightful and enlightening. I've listened to a lot of jazz but for some random reason, never gotten to listen to Arturo Sandoval's music more than some bits and pieces here and there. It's a really nive way to get to know this artist a little bit through this interview and I'm sure to check some albums of his soon. Especially the one mentioned that was recorded in Finland made me rather curious.
I loved this! What a great interview. More of this, please!
Loved this. More, please!
This is great. More Batiste Sessions!
Please do more !
I love this. Keep producing more, please. Anything by Sandoval always perks my ears up.
these segments are great! it's good to see Batiste doing what he is passionate about :) and i learn a lot about music that may not be instantly accessible!
