    I don’t understand how these videos don’t get more upvotes! The entire series is a comprehensive breakdown of how to be an efficient two-handed bowler. The best bowling videos I’ve come across yet. I’m very grateful for your approach and for posting these excellent videos here. The drills are money in the bank if you want to become better. Thank you!

    Excellent stuff! I think this is the most important thing when switching from one to two handed. The first thing I noticed, beyond the hand positioning causing the cupped wrist to break early if you don't support the ball correctly, is how much slower the ball gets thrown.
    I had to move my approach nearly 2 full steps back as well as start the push-away a full step later, much similar to Troup's approach. I'm not a fan of the crow/hop step as I can't recreate it the same every time, so I've been trying to emulate more of Troup/Vai's style. Starting the ball a tad lower and really pushing it out on the plant of that second foot, in the 5 step approach, makes all the difference for both the timing as well as overall speed of delivery. It also helps you stay behind the ball longer in that strong position and get a good slide instead of planting.
    At first, I was also using the support hand to help rotate the ball at release, but I find that affects the tilt and overall speed of the delivery if you do anything extra with the supporting hand. This super slo-mo video of Troup really helped me realize my mistake and combine all of your tip videos into one and mentally build the picture of what I need to be doing through the whole approach and delivery and it's helped immensely.
    czcams.com/video/ff4gJ9Y01Us/video.html
    Thanks again for all the tips as there aren't many channels combining this information in a digestible way. I know there's no right way to really do it, but taking the best parts of the one-handed approach and combining them with the benefits of two handed bowling is a game changer for me.

    could you please make a vid about how to straighten your arms on downswing..?

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I can try, but this part is hard to teach.
      Check out this video:
      czcams.com/video/cPn6RY5hM7w/video.htmlsi=hchLBSLDTEhQowP7
      It's a feeling that you have to develop over time. Try thinking of your arms as the chains on a swing set at a playground. When you are coming up high in a swing, the chains go loose but as you come down, they tighten as gravity pulls your butt into the seat.
      In the same way your bowling ball acts this way as long as you focus on allowing gravity to do its part in the downswing. You have to feel the weight of the ball in the downswing.

  • @Flstudiog-d
    @Flstudiog-d Před rokem +1

    I have a question about acceleration. After bringing the ball back, do you completely relax your arms and only right before you are about to release the ball you accelerate with your hand? (If so just one?).
    Thanks in advance. These videos look super helpful. Cant wait to try out the tips. I started getting pain in my left knee when I bowl now. I think I’m maybe twisting or something maybe you have an idea about that too 😊

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler  Před rokem

      Yes that is the idea. If there is tension in the arms on the downswing it affects energy transfer to the ball and will greatly affect ball speed.

      @lionmartian9046 Před rokem +1

      @@BigSkyBowler to be honest I'm not exactly sure I believe 5 steps, yes right handed,
      I used to take my first step with the left foot but took 3 ridiculous steps and couldn't mentality put more in. Now my first step is with the right and I've created more steps in my approach.
      What do you thank of this?

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler  Před rokem +1

      @@lionmartian9046 I would need to see a video first, or at least get a step count before I can really answer.
      If your taking an even number of steps and starting things off with your right foot, that is perfectly fine. If your taking an odd number of steps and starting with your right foot, that's where you can run into issues with timing, balance and swing.

    I like this channel, but timing is NOT determined on the pushaway. At least not in its entirety or even what we believe timing in bowling to be. It's determined at the release. If the ball is above your hips at the release point, you're late. If it is underneath, you're early. Pretty sure this goes for two handed and one handed bowlers.
    Pushaway determines is if you are STARTING late or early, that's it. One of my biggest issues as a one-handed bowler was that I would start late but then finish early, it's why, up until I fixed it, I was not only INCREDIBLY speed dominant (18 MPH, under 200 RPMs), but I would double dribble the ball every other shot.

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler  Před rokem

      No matter if your one handed or two, the timing throughout the swing is directly determined by the start of the push away and the consistency of that push away. That is why the push away is so important.
      If you move the ball at the same time but have a longer push away than your previous approach, your timing will be late. If you move the ball at the same time but have a shorter push than your previous approach, your timing will be early.
      The only difference between the two games is the timing points.
