Bridal Dance: Argentine Tango

- Daniel suggested that we do the Argentine Tango for our bridal dance. I originally wanted the Rhumba or Cha Cha because I had a little bit of latin dancing experience in my uni days but Daniel never danced before. Neither of us have learnt the tango before, so he argues that this will mean we'll be starting on an even keel.
So after a month of 2 or beginner group classes, we engaged a private dance instructor to choreograph this piece for our wedding day. Our dancing is abit rusty as beginners but thanks everyone for your constructive comments and support, we're so humbled and overwhelmed by this video's viewership.

Ah this is so beautiful, as an Argentinian it would make me really happy if my boyfriend wants to dance tango in our wedding day. It truly express the passion, love, suffering all in once, like in a real and stable relationship
I agree with you 100%. Argentinian tango is very unique, the most expressive from all the "ball dances" and going beyond the ball dance. That is why I decided to learn it with my girlfriend, it expresses feelings. No other dance can do it.

Yes. I commend them for trying this. Usually argentine tango is more risky than say a waltz, so people avoid it. It takes a bit more courage to attempt this on your wedding day :)

pfft it's my favorite dance. I would choose it. @alison and @JJ that's why you practice for idk a one in a lifetime event... most of the people I see come into the studio are not serious at all. It's usually for a one off event. maybe they should be more serious about the dance for their own wedding and practice for several months. I mean..my god they have a dance partner...for life at that

You picked a good dance for a wedding dance. The dance itself was good but as others have said, need the passion, connection, whilst having fluid movements.
Tango is not about how it looks ( looked technically ok to me), rather it's about how it feels and the portrayal of those feelings to the viewer ( and hence some of the comments below about no emotional connection portrayed).
However, I understand you both have been only doing this for a limited time and you both did very well in the time you had to learn it.
The things I talk about above ( eg connection, intensity, playful sensuality, graceful movements etc. take a long time and countless hours of practice to develop.
My suggestion is to stick to it and continue this wonderful dance.
Agree. Good job for a wedding dance. I am sure the dance was highly appreciated by your guests. It does take time, a mind switch and effort for the tango they write about. Still working on this. But it is true when you can feel that intimate ... conversation between the two, it makes such a difference. Good job anyway!

This happens, when asian trying all with their "Perfection" Thing. Dancing is not just technique. Dancing is Emotion, is Heart. You can be good in technique, but without emotion it will never reach the highest Level.
And especially Dances like Tango live by the feeling, the temperament and the Fire of the Heart.

Asians aren't known for heat and passion... they lack the criteria for love and romance. Even the Russians has taken this dance from the Argentinians and perfected it, just like they took the Italian/French ballet and perfected that.
