Not only did he come back, but he came back as hilarious/vulgar as when he left, and with one of my favorite topics. The legend has truly returned, hopefully for good.
fr fr!
I swear the only difference between his first videos and his current videos is the mic quality. Absolutely timeless
Not only that but he has 245k likes while only having 180k views
@@evobsm2328 That's just CZcams updating likes more often than they update views
I respect the HELL out of him. He stuck by his word on finishing his studies and and hasn't even TOUCHED the internet for almost 3 years, what a lad.
You've got to believe the second I saw the notification that Sam O'Nella uploaded I dropped everything and clicked as fast as I could lol, the absolute legend is back
I honestly doubted it. Like, I had to double check that it was Sam!
@@Markos_von_Krieg I was still half-sleep and it made me spring from the bed. What a wonderful way of waking up
hope u weren't holding a baby 💀
Same.

As a zoologist, I love that people are learning about the weird naming conventions! My personal favourite is Smaug giganteus, a super cute (and endangered) Southern African lizard named after Smaug (obviously!)
At least Tolkien actually knew Latin and Greek lol, but I doubt those who named that after his character did
DONKEY KONG'S P_____ C_____ O_____ FUCKING G______ serendipitously
@@kargaroc386 umm beside actual Latin majors taxonomists have the best Latin of most modern jobs
*Catholic priests all stare at you with holy fervour*
My favourite one is a Colombian frog, when the biologist that discovered it was asked what species it was he just said "I don't fucking know" and thus Allobates niputidea (nofuckingidea) was named
I’m so glad he’s back, and he hasn’t changed a bit
Just his voice lol
Got a different mic though
@@icantthinkofagoodname7992 he was just waiting for that mic to ship from the middle of bumfuck nowhere to his house
You mean Bitis?
He’s back again
Chi Dane Danes actually look pretty normal and cute compared to most dogs and certainly compared to what you'd imagine they'd look like.
When you mix dogs they usually look better due to genetic diversity iirc
Healthier too
Chi Dane Danes deserve to be a true breeding, uhm, breed. They've got their shit together. xD
That's because it's genetic diversity instead of the forced inbreeding that resulted in the dogs
@@elnico5623 No
Terry's reaction to the Donkey Kong thing was priceless lmao
He was gabbyflasted
I laughed so much my stomach hurt
What filthy bloody word starts with a G? I don’t want to know, don’t tell me, I want to keep whatever innocents I have left.
@@literallya442ndclonetroope5 Goose
Imagine Sam presenting this in Mr Terry’s class
The best of the celebrity ones is _heteropoda davidbowie,_ a huntsman spider that was named after Bowie because it's hairy and bright freaking orange. Like literally Ziggy Stardust's hair orange. Other huntsman spiders are just gray and brown etc., but one decided to be ✨fabulous✨
searched it up and by god is that thing creepy
Bowie? Yeah he's a bit of a creeper.
The speed you got this video up is beyond impressive!
early bird gets the worm
@@MrTerry you were fast on the draw you saw he uploaded and your first thought was to record a reaction... I don't blame you I would've done the same thing.
@@MrTerry I love it but maybe you could give the original author little bit more time so people can't just skip him and go for your video instead?
@@doomsday2_ do you think other people are going to give him time, hell no. I would much rather mr terry be able the jump on it than a trashy CZcamsr.
I do just to make clear though that I sort of agree with you, I think that people probably should wait a while so the original creator but nobody else is going to and so mr terry just wanted to be one of the first and also he might have wanted to watch the video but knew he had to do a video on it so he just got it done.
@@doomsday2_ well? They can decide whether to watch the original video or the mr terry's reaction video first, it's not like he's trying to steal the views or something
So much has changed since I was in school. In the 70's, domains weren't yet a thing but empires were bandied about for Eukaryotes versus Prokaryotes. The systems were changing from 5 kingdoms to 6 kingdoms with the splitting of Prokaryota into separate kingdoms of Bacteria and Archaea. In the Eukaryota, Fungi as a separate kingdom from Plantia, Animalia and Protozoa was becoming the norm, but Chromista hadn't yet been separated from Fungi.
Not to mention that phylum, class, and order are basically useless now. With genetics coming into the fold and cladistics taking over for Linnaeus’ old classification system, basically we’ve had an explosion of clades that puts any simple classification system to shame.
I do not understand what you said
@@3434animal Unbaswd
And now bacteria is kind of shifting to a subdomain of archaea
Man, Mr. Terry jumped on this reaction.
Unless he was HIDING SAM THE WHOLE TIME!!! :O
I will not confirm or deny this.
To be continued….
I love how Terry is just as excited as the rest of us when Sam came back.
Fun Fact the Eastern Copperhead snake has had 26 different scientific names over the years! Also love that Sam is back and mentioned a cryptid in his first new video!
We may have lost Overwatch today, but we regained the true MVP.
Well said man. Well said
It's honestly really impressive that he manages to not only make videos that are always funny, but also accurate and well-cited.
My theory is that Sam travelled the world and attained spiritual enlightenment then saw some random article about animal names, screamed I MUST CZcams THIS NOW, abandoned his quest, and made this video.
T Rex was original Dynamosaurus Imperiosus, then another fossil was found called Tyrannosaurus Rex, and it took a long time to realize they were the same kind, and because T Rex just sounds so much cooler, they bent the rule to keep it over D. Imperiosus.
Both names sound cool as fuck.
How bout Sussy Amongus?
@@blackman5867 That's not a dinosaur
@@maximaldinotrap I know but it does sound cool doesn't it? 😛

My favorite scientific names come from Austrian scientists. At the beginning of the 20th century, a Mr. Werner went from Austria to Australia (sic!) to classify stick insects. This proved to be harder than previously thought. When in 1912, he finally prevailed and was able to pin down the first species, he celebrated it by naming it "Denhama aussa", which is Austrian dialect for "We found him out". Proper German would have been "Den haben wir heraus", but it sounds better in dialect, he? Same goes for Mantispa aphavexelte. The couple U. and H. Aspöck found out that this critter was hitherto wrongly classified and thus put it into the genus Mantispa, which sounds similar, but is quite not Mantix, the same way as the insect does look like a mantix but is not a mantix. And because it was confused at first for the wrong genus, they named it "aphavexelte", which is a funny spelling for "eine verwechselte" (a confused one). Here we go.
And we can improve upon Gorilla gorilla gorilla. The scientific name of the American bison is Bison bison (Bison) bison L. 1758.
(sic)
Lol
Your reaction to the donkey kong part was priceless
2:12
Your horrified expression makes it a hundred times funnier lmao
2:11-2:26 was hilarious watching his face go from happy to *ABSOLUTE DISGUST* then just like, talk in shock for a bit
He’s back! The legend has returned and he’s just as funny as ever. To all those who stayed and waited for his return has earned their degree and for Mr Terry to attend our graduation from Sam O’Nella academy.
I'm just happy the teacher has returned and keep up the good work thanks teach
Fun fact: in German cephalopod means “Kopfüßer” witch is “Kopf” literally means head and “fuß” literally means foot so they are called head-footers.
That was some f a s t editing Terry! Videos been out like an hour.
literally stopped another video i was working on to do this
One take terry
As soon as I saw it I literally fucking PANICKED, I spent a good hour just happy crying
I missed this dude so much
5:41 i love the idea that he's been gone for 2 years just writing that absolute banger
When I first saw the Donkey Kong sene, I brushed out laughing for a couple of minutes. I had to rewatch it few times to claim myself down. It was so out of the blue.
The same exact thing happened to me!
Wasn't Sam in college for some time during the last few videos? With the amount of research that goes into his videos and almost flies right over your head I can imagine both at the same time is a little much
Another fun fact is that Octopuses have 6 arms and 2 legs, no tentacles. Tentacles come in pairs and are described differently than other limbs. Squid and cuttlefish have eight arms plus a pair of feeding tentacles.
I enjoy that this review came out two hours after the original video lol . Genuinely think it’s impressive it was found and reacted to so quickly after 2 years of no videos .
We've been waiting
You did it teach. Unbelievable that he is back.
So now I propose to take Sam, Terry and the goat oversimplified for a pimpin' historical and hysterical podcast. I know the two star pupils are busy af to get to talk to them. But come on guys how cool would that be?
Or something more likely, like a mr Terry character in Sam's or Over's style that just says: nice one.
Greetings from Germany have a good one. :)
"Is that John Green?"
now i will not stop thinking about this
From a competitive standpoint zapdos is technically the best cause articuno and moltres both have a 4x weakness to rock making them ultra vulnerable to the ever present stealth rock threat but I personally love articuno
Potential History also came back the other day with an excellent video about Japan's reason for surrender in WWII that you should definitely check out.
Hey, zapose is my favorite too!
Looking forward to seeingba special on Discovery about the Samosaurus in a few years lol
I really appreciate the fact that you linked the original and told your audience to go see it
I watch these after watching the original just to see what other people think but it's really nice to see reaction channels bringing attention back to the content they're reacting on
I think naming things after either real life or fictional characters will confuse the fuck out of people in the future.
The mnemonic device I always use for taxonomy is Large Dangerous Kangaroos Punching Children On Family Game Shows. You always start with Life because things like viruses exist. As said here though, in every taxonomic level we have suites of characteristics. The Domaine Eukarya for example is defined by large cells, a true nucleus and membrane bound organelles among other things.
In taxonomy, the levels of life are:
Domain
Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
Family
Genus
Species
All animals follow this, but it's slightly different for various other types of life. What about us? Well Humans are:
Domaine- Eukarya
Kingdom- Animalia
Phylum- Chordata
Class- Mammalia
Order- Primate
Family- Hominidae
Genus- Homo
Species- sapien
There are various other levels within these levels also said here. You have Super, Sub, Parv and Infra which are the most common you'll see. There are also Clades and Tribes. Primates for example have two extant Suborders, Haplorhini and Strepsirrhini. We are Haplorhines. Within the Suborder Haplorhini we have two Infraorders, Tarsiiformes and Simiiformes. We are Simiiformes. So in reality we can describe humans in much more detail like this.
We are Eukaryotes, organisms made of one or more nucleated cells. We are Animals as we can't produce our own energy and have cell membranes instead of cell walls. We are Chordates because we have nerve chords. We are Vertebrates because our spinal chord is protected by our vertebrae and we are Mammals because we are covered in body hair, females of our species can produce milk and we have a four chambered heart. We are Eutherians because we have a bellybutton, indicative of our ability to give birth to live young. We are Primates as we have large brains relative to our body size, we have dexterous hands, flexible shoulders, and binocular color vision. We are Haplorhines, because we can't synthesize our own vitamin C, we have dry noses rather than wet, and we also don't have split lips although we do have the remnants of it. We are Simiiformes, anthropoid primates with complex social systems with which we communicate with others and we also have unique structures with regard our hind feet, teeth, orbits and an even larger brain to body ratio. We are Catarrhinis as we have nostrils pointing down, we have a 2-1-2-3 dental format, and we lack a prehensile tails. We are also Hominids as we have a Y shaped molar pattern, even more reduced caudal vertebrae, and an increased ability for bipedality. Now we reach Hominines. Hominins use tools. We all have a proto culture in which we teach tool use to our young, we all have these long gestational periods of 8-9 months and long parental care periods to nurture our big brains. Of the Hominins, we are of course the genus Homo, and we are the species sapien. I could explain all of these in far more detail as they are all defined by suites of characteristics, but I think you get the point.
All of these levels have suites of characteristics that define them. I recomend a video by Gutsick Gibbon where she walks you through how Nested Hierarchies work.
Mr. Terry right on the button with this one. Sam's video hasn't even been up 2 hours yet.
I love the fact that he returned in full form, like he never left. He didn't change a single thing in his format
I am so happy, your and his content are some of my favorites and with sam cpming back i get some of tbe best videos + some of the best reactions + w
Absolutely worth it. He's still got it.
I like that it wasn't even 2 HOURS after Sam posted again that you had this up!
Funny story: My older brother was playing Pokemon Leaf Green and got to the League. He got through Lorelei, but hit a brick wall with Bruno. He hands me his GBA and says "Do something". I had Onix, Machamp, and Hitmonlee to go through and only Zapdos to do it. Somehow, I beat Bruno and hand the GBA back to Chris, who says "Thank you, Ebi, O Great Escape Artist". Only for Agitha to pulverize him. He didn't properly stock up on potions and revives. To this day, he calls me Ebi or Houdini, in honor of that moment.
The return of the king in all his glory. also youre response time is impeccable lmao
I see Sam O'Nella's return as one of the more significant events that's happened
Wow, this was fast, I'm glad he is okay and a force of chaos just like last time we saw him. Btw there was a flying prehistoric animal called Aerodactyl due to Aerodactyl the Pokemon, which it was always funny to me
So get this: Same went on his short break to focus on school, just to finish it, and comeback to continue working on his own "School". Truly, Sam is a man of the Highest of Educations!
Writing a song and figuring out what music to do it with and figuring out how to match the beat of the song is a much better excuse for a late video than whatever the hell Oversimplified’s been up to for half a year with his latest video
I got way more emotional about his upload than I thought I would.
Yayyyy glad you are reacting to this immediately thought of you when i saw his vid in the feed
Thanks for thinking of me!
love a bit of sam onella! great to see him back on form
A new Sam O'Nella video is nice and all but its even better when its history-related so Mr. Terry can give historical context to it.
I think the best part of the Donkey Kong joke is your reaction to it, because it seems like YOU censored it and not Sam.
10/10 stars. ❤
It's great to have Sam back! A shame you missed the joke at the end though.
Funnily enough mixing Chihuahua and great Dane just gets you a normal looking and sized dog just wiþ pointier ears
The exaggerated traits kinda even out
the video came out like 2 hours ago and you already made a reaction video, you're pretty fast.
i'm gonna watch this tommorow though since it's already 11 PM in northern Brazil
I took years of college level biology in high school . We had to memorize Latin prefixes and suffixes we learned 200 of them.
Damn you were fast with this upload. Must be super excited to see a video from him.
For fun i've been thinking of all crazy, hypothetically possible names Zoologist would have to come up with if a bunch of Mythical creates turned out to be real. Like if Dragons turned out to actually be real tomorrow, in exactly the same manner as they are portrayed in Fantasy full stop, what would their name(s) be? Since there already is a genus of real flying lizards that have that name.
Are we talking European or Far eastern dragons here?
I was just scrolling on my phone and saw a Sam O'Nella video and thought it might be fun to take a little trip down memory lane. Only... wait... I don't recognize that thumbnail. Glad that Sam is back!
Sam did a special after credit scene too! Lots of effort in this video
At this point we need a mr terry and sam on nella collab
Wow a new Sam Onella and then Mr. Terry is on it within two hours!
I saw him it made me scream when I saw his video
You hopped on real quick like everyone else 🤣 I love it
Was it worth the wait?
yes
WORTH
Absolutely
Idk. I’m a cat, why you askin’ me?
Depends if he keeps making videos
My favourite "celebrity" named creature is the Psephophorus terrypratchetti, an extinct species of leatherback sea turtle named after the author Sir Terry Pratchett who's fantasy novel series Discworld focuses on a world that drifts through space on the back of a giant turtle
One of my favourite double names is Homo Sapiens Sapiens, our subspecies, which literally means "the smart smart human", whereas the Neanderthals are Homo Sapiens Neandethaliensis, "the smart human from the Neander valley". Kind of goes to show the fundamental tendency we have towards thinking of ourselves as the smartest thing that ever lived even though we don't know for certain.
Holy cow! Brother, you are fast on that record button!
Holy crap, you're on top of this!
He dropped another one today!!! When!!! Its time!! I cant wait
Mr terry your a true history legend
Fun fact, the double naming thing happened with my favorite branch of Owl species, the Tytos! Aka the Barn Owls, because there’s 16 different types, like greater and lesser sooty owls and my ultra favorite, masked owls, and yet when it comes to the one with Tyto Alba as it’s scientific name… That’s a Barn owl. In a family.. already known as barn owls lol
The fact that latin isn't used by anyone in their actual lives is exactly the reason biologist use it. Live languages change all the time to the point where the same word just a few decades apart might have meant something different if not opposite. Latin as a dead language that was wildly spread already due to the influence of Rome and Christianity ( and was already considered the language of the educated people since middle ages) was perfect to ensure that a certain word or name will still mean the same in a few decades to avoid confusion
Yay! Sam O'Nella isn't dead! I was kind of worried about him.
My dog is a German Shepherd Chow-Chow mix. The way she is able to move her ears and eyebrows makes her face so expressive, you can almost hear what she is thinking.
You missed the post credits scene. By far the funniest part of the video.
oooomg I remember watching this guy react to Sam back in the day.. memories
The Legend Has Returned!
Mr. Terry, You should check out some of Overly Sarcastic Productions (OSP) stuff. One half does myths and tropes (Red) and the other various history topics (Blue).
I was waiting for your reaction to this, it’s been a long 2 years since his last video.
So good to have him back! Hopefully, he doesn't overwhelm himself!🙏💖
bro it's one video in 3 years, if this is overwhelming him he needs a new career path.
@@astrofish6163 He literally stopped because he had no time and had to focus on his studies, the "overwhelm" bit is very much justified
My personal favorite is Strigiphilus garylarsoni, a louse named after the discover's favorite cartoonist, Gary Larson of The Far Side fame.
After oversimplified did the french revolution and teased the napoleonic wars, I had to wait quite long for it to actually happen. With Sam O'Nella, that video would be the asssasination of McKinley by Leon Gzolgosz(spelling improvised)
1:w0 Like that one guy said "there are decades where nothing happens, and years where decades happen" or something along those lines
If a Chihuahua breeds with a great Dane, the outcome is an athletic Chihuahua
HOLY SHIT HE'S BACK, THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER
We outa control with these names now.
Pikachu also has, I believe, a protein named after it called pikachurin that deals with bioelectricity
Another example of using the first name to be publicized is the Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus. In this case though things turned out differently because they eventually figured out it was in fact two different dinosaurs, but for a time the name Brontosaurus was considered incorrect since they thought it was the same dinosaur as the Apatosaurus who's name came first.
Mr. Terry, I know you said not to use it, but now I'm definitely going to remember Domain-Kingdom-Phylum-Class-Order-Family-Genus-Species thanks to "Donkey Kong's P------ C-------- O------ Fucking G----- Serendipitously".
(Hint: only the "F" is the actual swear word here, lol.)
As sam said himself " with enough harassment you can achieve anything"
You rock Mr T
Man came back strong!
I've found one YT channel, which should be written on your list of channels to go to, when not having any idea, what to watch.
I mean the channel Setarko. His videos about anything Russian are of excellent quality and the best of them all is about Victory Day. You have to watch it, no matter your opinions on Russia.
I believe in mr Terry and Sam o Nella supremacy
The return of the king!
The king is back
What's crazy, is that historical things in the modern era can be recorded so much easier than previous eras. The advent of technology essentially all but got rid of the job of "Official Record-Taker", or at least the necessity of it. Nowadays when a war breaks out, or a significant/influential person dies in any form, its known instantaneously, before (say 1700's) it would take days or even weeks for it to be known by anyone outside of the town/city where it occurred. In the 1700's we essentially had to take peoples word for it, now we (quite literally) have proof-of-history in our pockets. Plus, without a form of "proof-of-history", all we have is word of mouth, which is most likely why a fair amount of history is up in the air on legitimacy. Going even further, we are experiencing it first hand.
Back then, they did experience it first hand, but had to tell others via paper mail and or word of mouth, which would have taken quite some time. Today, when can take a video or photo, then post it, livesteam it, text it to a friend, etc. We have a "Historic Advantage" in terms of recording history.
