    The Blissey / Chansey trick reminds me so much of my time with Omega Ruby, when you could find secret bases online and there was one I'm pretty sure on a Mirage island w a full team of blisseys to fight. A strange bit of nostalgia but something I remember fondly from the game.

    This is my strategy, including something this video didn't mention:
    Zigzagoon and Linoone have the ability Pickup. Starting at level 41, there is a 10 percent chance of picking up a rare candy. Linoone captured on routes 119 and 120 are between levels 22-25. You can either catch 5 and level all of them up, or catch 1, level it up, and then clone it four times. For Pickup to trigger, you need to catch or defeat the opponent Pokemon in a trainer or random battle.

    • @MankeyMite
      @MankeyMite  Před 2 lety +48

      Yes! I forgot about that! Leveling up your pokemon with one of the methods from the video while having 5 zigzagoons with pickup would be pushing it to the limit for sure!:)

      @@MankeyMite I think, if you want to get to lvl 100, this is by far the fastest way to do it. Just grind against random low level wilds with a high pp pokemon, and check every after every x battles. The interesting thing would be to find the optimal number of battles x after which you check for picked up items. Once your pokemon reaches a certain level, it may even be better to just deposit it (in the daycare), and start defeating low lvl stuff with a 6th linoone.

    • @MankeyMite
      @MankeyMite  Před 2 lety +16

      @@tiemen9095 I tried it, but you get rare candies way too rare for it to be viable, 10% chance for item after battle and 10% for rare candies, and you waste some seconds checking items too, but for high levels you get more value from it:)

      @tiemen9095 Před 2 lety +24

      @@MankeyMite I still think it is the most efficient at high levels. Another efficient way (also to EV train btw): go to desert underpass. Bring a high lvl pokemon like Rayquaza and look for ditto. Switch to the Rayquaza and OHKO it with dragon claw or so. You get the xp and EV as though you just defeated rayquaza. Many other pokemon can be used. Also, for any wild encounter strat: place a fainted pokemon with the ability Hustle, Pressure or Vital Spirit in the lead of your party to get a 50% chance for the wild encounter to be at its max possible lvl for that area.

    Another good way to level up in this game is to rematch all the trainers near Mauville City and Route 117. Cycle back and forth a lot of times between Mauville City and Verdanturf Town (just like he does 0:50). Eventually, most of the trainers in the area will battle you again. Once you defeat all of them, start cycling again. They will be ready to battle you yet again.
    Their pokemon also level up each time until they peak. This is the best way to level up in this game until you can sweep Elite Four easily with Exp Share.

    I remember there being a great trick in Ruby/Sapphire (not Emerald unfortunately) that allowed you to afk grind using the Day Care and the Acro Bike with a mudslide. Basically you'd deposit a pair of any Pokémon, go to a mudslide with the Acro Bike and then just hold the up button. In RS when you attempt to go up a mudslide it will count as a step, even if you don't actually go up it (I believe this was fixed in Emerald). You can use any method of movement (Acro Bike, Mach Bike, or feet) but the Acro Bike is the fastest and most efficient way to grind. You'll have to use something to hold the up button, such as a weight or tape, but if you're able to get it to go up on its own then your golden. I actually used this trick a lot to complete my Sapphire's National Dex

    One leveling strat I always read about was putting a Pokemon in the Daycare, then biking to the Desert and getting yourself stuck on one of those sand slides that you need the Mach Bike to cross. If you tape down the D-pad, you can continuously get steps counted while you do something else, provided you don't let your GBA run out of battery. Never tried it, because I hate the idea of leaving a console on overnight, but I imagine it would be smooth sailing on a sped-up emulator.

    The fastest method is rebattling the trainers on the route of the daycare. I usually spend around 2-4 hours to level 100 there depending on the pokemon. Its roughly 6k exp per breeder battle, 3000 per double battle, and 1200 per sports guy... Thats around 17000 exp every run, which costs you around 3 minutes every time + 2 minutes of recharging the battles by walking back and forth between city and route on a bike. Since these trainers all stay on a pretty low level, you can start training your pokemon without an exp share pretty quickly to get the full exp.

    There is a method with Ditto'd Blissey you can use too.
    The ditto method is also the best method for EV training too in Emerald, so you can gain a ton of EXP while getting EVs up with high exp yield pokemon like Kyogre who also give 3 base EVs for Special Attack for instance.
    However for raw EXP, you want to use a Blissey. You train it offensively, and teach it Brick Break, should be a +Atk nature as well to guarantee the 1HKO on the level 45 ditto even if it has max defense IVs and a favorable +Def nature
    Desert Underpass has the Dittos.
    Here is the showdown formatted Blissey setup:
    Choice Band to increase attack, Attack and Speed EVs to guarantee going first no matter what and having extra power, Brick Break to 1HKO the Ditto, and Teleport to return to pokemon center. The HP Fighting is optional.
    Blissey (F) @ Choice Band
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Hidden Power [Fighting]
    - Brick Break
    - Teleport
    Hidden Power Fighting is optional(since it requires exact IVs), but prolongs your stay in the cave. Although 24 uses of brick break assuming PP max is used is still pretty decent. (15 PP is still alright)
    Steps:
    Optional: Use White Flute to increase encounter rate to 1.5x
    1. Have the Pokemon you want to train 2nd lead of your party, have a fainted Pokemon with Illuminate at the lead
    2. Turn 1 switch to your level 100 Blissey, which Ditto will Transform into
    3. Click Brick Break
    4. Repeat until all PP is exhausted. This will yield around ~1k EXP per battle.
    5. Use Teleport on Blissey(or another pokemon like Abra in your party) to go back to the Pokemon Center
    6. Use the PC box (do not heal at the counter!)
    7. Deposit your Blissey into your PC and then Withdraw it. This will 100% heal it and restore its PP
    8. Return to Desert Underpass and start from step 1
    I believe this will be less painful than the Elite 4 Method as it does not require intentional wiping which relies on AI Trainer RNG.

    1 extra tip is that zigzagoon (or any other pokemon with the ability pickup like phanpy, meowth,aipom.teddiursa and linoone) has a 10% chance of "picking up" an item after a battle as long as it is in your party(dont even need to actually use it in battle).
    in ruby and sapphire they always have a 10% chance when picking up an item for that item to be a rare candy.
    in emerald it is a bit harder as they will need to be level 21 for you to have a 4% chance for the picked up item to be a rare candy luckily it is easy to get a pickup pokemon of that level since most can be found in the wild that high (zigzagoon and linoone on route 118 and 119. phanpy in the safari zone(need acro bike). teddiursa and aipom in the pokemon emerald safari zone extension in their 30s(!). and meowth who you can get by trading a skitty at the battle frontier, he gets pay day too). and in emerald only the chance of picking up rare candies becomes 10% at level 41 and the chances and ability to get other useful items also goes up the higher level the pick up pokemon (go to bulbapedia for a full list)
    so next time you are trying to grind up a pokemon consider putting some pokemon with pickup in the back of your party for extra rare candies and other items you might be able to use or sell for money, you can have up to 4 if you are grinding with the exp share and up to 5 if you are grinding the pokemon by letting it fight themself or using a pickup pokemon to ko the enemies (high level meowth with pay day wink wink)

    When I was young, I played Pokémon Rubis / Sapphire. Not Emerald, and the way I XPed my Girafarig and Rayquaza to the Lvl 100 was to battle a lot of Pokémon (Victory road for exemple) and have 5 Zigzagoon/Linoone with pick up. In RS, the odds to have a rare candy was 10% every time, in Emerald, it's 10% only from the lvl 41 and more (5% lvl 31-40, 3% lvl 21-30 and nothing before)
    It's 10% each battle to pick up a new item, and 10% the Rare candy. So it's 1% each linoone to have the item at the end of the battle. If there are 5 linoone, it's ~ 4,90% to have the candy, so every ~20 battles you have can have a new LVL ! It could save a lot of fights and you just have to wait the moment when you can finish the XP of your Pokémon with all this Candys !

    The fastest and EASIEST way by far is to use the day care and use the mach bike, but if you go the desert, there's a mud hill that when attempting to go up, will instantly move you back down. If you use a Gameboy SP, (like the one I had when I was 12 years old), find an object that can keep the button pressed down, then close the SP. Then simply plug it in, so the battery doesn't run out, then leave it. After waking up the next day, the pokemon in the day care will be at level 100.

    Ok regarding gabby and Ty somethings I have experienced with them:
    1) I didn't need too much to get through them. Elite four seems more like a chore than fun.
    2) don't give interviews and only battle or they won't battle again until u watch the TV.
    3) don't know if it's a bug or something but I battled them enough number of times their movement got bugged or something or if they just stopped cause they got stuck at the route above lavender. So it was really easy to farm them.
    4) if you want to do xp per minute u need to eliminate the whole explosion thing. Changing pokemon, more pokemon fainting (4 bars instead of 2) and the pokemon centre visits can really make it a lot more time consuming. Instead get a pokemon with decent level and the move surf. It's easy to comeby and it helped me a lot. They're a double battle so if your other pokemon reaches 100 and the other one has exp share it is really good exp and the battle winds really fast if your faster and can one hit them.

    • @MankeyMite
      @MankeyMite  Před 2 lety +1

      The explosion tactic is more time consuming, but you get more exp from the explosion tactic than surf, since the surf user would also get it's share of exp, even if it's level 100. Difference is small after having to heal, but still. I've recently heard about this bug where they end up not moving after many battles, and if that's the case it would probably be a good idea to use the surf tactic instead, as you could just bike up and down between routes and rematch seconds later. I might have to make another video testing this, haha!

      hmm, I don't think you will ever have a problem with buying your daycare pokemon back, but not the best method anyways.(unless u use an emulator and go fast forward) sweet scent encounter will be much slower, I tried comparing it before making the video, for caves at least, not faster. Yea exp.share method is easier for most people, but explosion tactic gives a little more as it doesn't split the exp between both your pokemon:)

    Theres also efficient way to level up.
    Go to the cave of Battle Frontier which level 40-50 Smeargle always spawn.

      if Smeargle had a higher exp rate it would be great for sure!

    I always trained in Victory Road with Lucky Egg and always worked for me i gained 937 xp points to 2011 xp points doing this method. That's a clue if you want level up your pokes faster.
