  • Alex Payne and James Haskell are joined by one of the greatest players of a generation - David Pocock - for an amazing and wide-ranging Good Bad Rugby conversation.
The trio talk bird books, walking away from the game, escaping the horrors of Zimbabwe, and the obsession that leads to the very top of the game. In an incredible episode, the former Australian captain opens up for the very first time on what drove him on, and what happens when you're prepared to sacrifice everything you've worked for because of what you believe in. From 450 sit ups a day to PTSD, World Cup Final disappointments to THAT tackle in Brisbane, it's one of the very best episodes of GBR, with a very special guest.

As a Zimbabwean, hearing Pocock talk about how much Zimbabwe means to him is great to hear. Also enjoyed watching him play, especially during the 2015 RWC. In my opinion Pocock, McCaw and Dusautoir are the best loosefowards to play the game.

I have to say this has to be one of my favourite episodes you guys have ever done. I've always admired Pocock as a player but never realised the depth of the man, his interests, and his principles. A huge amount of respect has been gained, and I'm 100% behind him in any future campaigns. Keep doing what you're doing David, you can see how much it all means to you 👏👏👏

I wonder if younger players appreciate what an amazing resource this podcast and those like it are. Previously we had to rely on great print journalists to tease this stuff out, and even then you’d be getting an edited version. To get such detail and hear such honesty directly from players that I’ve previously only seen butting heads on TV is breathtakingly refreshing

Greetings from the US (as embarrassed as I am right now) (this isn't who we are!). As a relative newcomer to the fabulous sport of rugby, I love how this podcast introduces me to the person before I see the athlete. Obviously I've missed the greatness of a vast number of rugby legends. But I am thoroughly enjoying the current version of the sport & it's players. Don't let rugby turn into the total clown show that is American football! If allowed, I'd like to start the bidding for the signed Haskell/Pocock jerseys at $1000.00 USD.
