- We’ve all been worrying about the weather and to be completely honest, I figured Whistler Blackcomb’s kickoff to the 23/24 ski season would be way below average. My expectations were absolutely smashed and I had the best Whistler Blackcomb opening day EVER. @@riseandalpine I am going to ghet the insta 360 3x and I was wondering should I get accidental damage protection cuz I don't want to fall and break it. And how fragile is it if it gets hit by a tree or I fall?
@@Denizz._ The lens is fragile, Go Pros can handle way more rough housing. I've scratched the lens on my X2 and X3 lenses each season. Damage protection could be a smart option if they offer lens replacement or lens scratches no questions asked. I've never really looked into it.

Fingers crossed for some big storm cycles over the next month, but with the alpine chairs not open yet. In bounds touring up Peak/Harmony/Spankys/Glacier is so fun, easy short skin tracks for epic descents with no competition.
Such an epic hack that beats mega touring days anywhere else

I remember revelstoke in 2015. I was the firt in line i planted the tent at noon the day prior to opening what a day. 4m50 in the alpine for opening.

dang buddy got after it opening day! saw you at the peak and in the creekside underground like 6:30am. sorry i couldn't hang in whis bowl (i'm not technically allowed to ski until april - only 4 months out of 5 consecutive knee surgeries within 16 months...since i blew them both...again). that was such a fun opening day! love your stoke!! sad i missed the hot sauce was getting something from my jeep x

What a sick day. The harmony lines at the end looked epic - the boarder looked as stoked as you did! Skiing pretty well for early season (I'll pretend we didn't see the butterfail haha).
Such an epic start... Low tides compared to previous seasons but it still delivered the goodness!

Unfortunately, I cracked these Nordica's last season and it's unfixable. Thanks to the two sheets of metal they aren't breaking very easily which is amazing! Nordica noticed my love for the enforcer line and is helping me out with skis which is beyond exciting. That's why I'm transitioning the 115's to rock skis since they prob aren't all that structurally safe for long term hard charging. I'll be pulling out some other twigs when the snow pack get's deeper!

I know its mentioned in some other videos and theres hints here, but do you have any advice on what time to get in line at the various base lifts? Not necessarily to be first chair, but to get on the lift in the first couple mins once they start spinning. Maybe a topic for the next wb guide?

Totally depends on the day, time of year and the amount of snowfall. Some days you roll up at 8:15 and are only a few rows back and others it's stacked at 7:00... Since I need to get a parking spot I usually aim to get there early enough I can park and use the facilities hahaha. Sorry I don't have a straight answer.
Lol all good! I know it's not straightforward but knowing all the factors def helps. I remember last year I went outside to get a coffee and there were like 4 people so I took my time getting ready and 20 mins later the line went to the other end of creekside 😂

My only opening day video ended with my 2nd ACL and MCL tear to the same knee. For doing what you did too and hit a rock while turning under the pow. Snow Summit CA

is there no avalanche danger skiing those zones early season? Since patrol doesn't do any control, or is it cause its low tide so no risk?
Hey Vincent! There is always avalanche danger when it's not controlled so it is up to everyone to make all terrain calls, check forecasts and bring the appropriate gear.

Is there a reason you split you skis on the gondy? Are the tails too big?
With the width and rocker the skis only fit into the 2 extra wide ski slots which were already taken. Since I know Whistler's gondola's well I know when I'll need to split them. It's always such a gong show at new hills when you're trying to squeeze them in and they don't fit 😂😂😂😂
