The movie and the story helped me come out to my mom. I saw the movie with her. Then a couple weeks later I came out to her. Then I read the book and watched it with her again. I’m very lucky to have such an accepting group of people. My mom and my friends are absolutely amazing and I love the story and the message of this book. I cried watching the movie and reading the book
