I went to Australia 3 years ago, & when I heard her say that her dad is a doctor in the Flying Doctors Service, I cheered, because I salute these doctors, nurses & other health care workers, who help rural people for free. My family bought a souvenir Flying Doctors nurse teddy bear, that we display every holiday season in the living room.

Ben Simmons has an American dad and moved to Florida for high school to play ball so you can understand it completely. The US accent tends to be a lot stronger. He does AUS interviews and it's suddenly a lot more Australian with an American twinge. Katherine Langford's accent kinda being confused makes sense I guess.
Some people are like that, if I go to a new country or am around people who speak a certain way for a while, I start speaking like them and adopt their accent without even trying. I guess it's worse for her because she had to speak in an American accent.
I think it has something to do with the fact that all of her jobs have been playing American characters
Some people are like a sponge with surrounding accents, some people aren't. Not only has she spent years in the states, it's been years where she's had to consistently learn how to speak in another accent naturally.
I hope she gets more roles! Her spot in Knives out was fantastic, really looking forward to her in the future!

Terrible interview Jimmy, you made it SUPER awkward. Meanwhile re Flying Doctors - yes it's real. They're used for rural towns as Katherine said, and have been a really highly respected service in our country for 90 YEARS, founded in 1928. The doctors often have reduced salaries (given its also non-profit), so its a very humanitarian-based organisation. That her Dad is part of it is a VERY big deal.

I just love katherine she is so real and so striaghtforward. She is goofy , kind nervous type and i love that type of person because everyone expects actors to be confident but when i see person like that i feel relatable and i know when she speaks she speaks her heart and not just to gain attention and the fact that she is a private person its a cherry on cake . I usually enjoy Kimmel’s interviews but this was just bad. Katherine was clearly uncomfortable and I didn’t really appreciate his “joke” about bringing Hannah back. There will be no resurrection like Jon Snow. When someone commits suicide unfortunately there is no going back and that’s just not something you joke about.

So many silly absurd questions. Would have preferred to hear her take on the show, etc or about her new movie 'Love Simon' . Much prefer Thallon's interview. Katherine is very attractive, with a very gregarious personality. Perfectly cast alongside Dylan Minette in the shared lead role. I've just started watching season 2 and I hope they don't lose the plot.

American English was the OG English when you compared it to “England” English. The British literally changed their accent to what it is today. The rich wanted to separate themselves from the poor so they came up with the British accent. (:
And also, Australian accents aren’t OG either. The Australian accent developed through a process known as levelling - when speakers of different accents and dialects come together, major differences in the way they speak gradually disappear and the speech sounds which are most common among them become characteristic of their accents. Also, some people say that some of it comes from a drunken slur, but take that with a grain of sand.
American English is literally the closest to the original Old English “accent.” So, yes. American English is “regular English.” I would never actually put it that way like Kimmel did, but he’s technically correct. What he should have said was “American English” but he wasn’t wrong when he said “regular English.”
